I went to Katz Dermatology for an appointment scheduled with Alexa Toohey. Alexa was very attentive and thorough with my examination. She also did well addressing my concerns. Her assistant was also very nice and helpful.

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Katz. As a new patient I got a total of two minutes of his time. He did not let me speak and he did not check my skin. He mistook a wart for a cyst and then when I disagreed he said: "it doesn't matter, I just freeze it with liquid nitrogen anyway". Then he pointed the freezer spray at me while cutting me off in the middle of a sentence. He was extremely unprofessional and uncaring. I'm suspicious of all the good reviews he has online. I can't imagine other people finding this type of treatment acceptable. I’m posting this review again because the one I posted a few months back has mysteriously disappeared.

Dr. Katz has always been amazing. He is clear and direct and will think of good options if you’re open. The nurse that was in with him (did not get her name) was one of the best I’ve had there over the years. This nurse in particular took VERY detailed notes, left me feeling confident in her efforts to help me get what I needed with ease. Both Dr. Katz and the nurse made me feel at ease and I trusted I they had my best interest at heart! I will not change dermatologists any time soon.

This was my 1st visit to Katz Dermatology. Very satisfied so far. Full body inspection. Had several basal cells frozen. Had a suspect growth excised and sent for biopsy. Parking was plentiful. Arrived 15 minutes early and was seen at scheduled time. The Dr was friendly, informative, thorough, and painless. I have no complaints.

I had a great experience with Dr Katz. I had visited him 10 years ago for hair loss problem and he was able to diagnose me perfectly and fixe my issue. I started recently experiencing again extreme hair shedding and decided to go back to him after being misdiagnosed by my current dermatologist. Dr Katz took his time explaining the possible diagnosis, recommended me to do a scalp biopsy to get the most accurate one so he can treat me the best way possible. He was extremely patient with me and took his time answering my numerous questions so I can put my mind at ease and try to understand my condition . He’s a very knowledgeable doctor with many years of experience and I would recommend him in a heartbeat. After the second visit I can see why some people have given this place a one star. The guy is completely rude and maybe even racist. The blonde nurse was the same. He was completely dismissive of my problems and would not let me ask questions. When I finally did get a question through his answers were dismissive. Went to go see him for hair-loss and first thing he said was that he “didn’t see it.” How are you going to completely dismiss someone’s concerns without even trying? He was in a hurry to get in and get out. I really hate playing the race card but after seeing some of the other reviews I see why some people felt that way. Not sure how he is with other concerns but if you’re suffering with hair-loss don’t go here, at this point I’m not sure if dermatologists are really even the specialists to see concerning this issue. I don't remember who I saw at the practice but I debated writing a review. The process of scheduling was very easy, and the doctor was very fast and knew exactly how to treat me which I appreciated it. However, the assistant (possibly CNA or nursing student?) and him had a conversation about me directly outside the door which I think should have been conducted either in private or in front of me and he was a little patronizing in the room with me. I'm a primary care physician (I didn't mention that in the appointment) but I'm also a young looking female with olive skin that wears sweatpants on my days off so I definitely don't look like a stereotypical physician. In school they really emphasized how important it is to not be patronizing towards patients (especially young/old/female/individuals of color) and I think that could be improved upon here. I only took 1 star off though because medically I received excellent service. I don't remember who I saw at the practice but I debated writing a review. I took my 11 year old granddaughter to Dr. Katz. She has a rash on her scalp and neck. This is the third doctor we visited for this issue in 7 weeks. The office was efficient and personal. His assistant was knowledgeable and friendly which put my granddaughter at ease. The rash is clearing up nicely. We are very appreciative of his expertise. This Dermatologist is horrible !!!! He didn't even touch my scalp to examine me. He just dismissed me and told me there wasn't any help for me. I left the office in tears. Very very Disappointed in this practice ! You dont treat patients like that. It can destroy someone life.
