Mr. Matthew B Massey

Have been meaning to give this review for a long time now but here it is finally. I ruptured both Achilles tendons at the same time about 3 years ago. A couple friends of mine told me about Dr. Massey and I'm so thankful they did. He was phenomenal and repaired each tendon on both legs during the same surgery. Because of his procedure the healing process was much faster and I am currently 100 percent and as strong as ever! Thank you Dr. Massey!!!

I found Dr. Massey to be very friendly. He explained what was going to happen in layman's terms. I was confident in his knowledge and experience based on what he told me in our meetings. After the procedure my knee felt really well except soreness from the surgery. My appointment with him after the surgery was excellent. He examined the knee and showed me pictures of my knee explaining what he did and what I could expect in the days following my surgery. He did tell me that I have arthritis in the knee and helped me understand that I would have that.. Appreciated his honesty. He also gave me a lists of the type of exercises I should do for my PT. I'm writing this about two weeks after the surgery and am very pleased with the results. Thanks Doc.

Dr. Massey was a pleasant, passionate, and caring doctor. He made the surgery fairly easy for me. Even after my surgery I was able to recover fast because he did such a great job. Thank you Dr. Massey!

Saw Dr. Massey for a ruptured Achilles, which he surgically repaired. My surgery went great and he was very personable, informative, and engaged throughout my surgery and rehab. I’ve had zero issues since and am now back to 100%. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience with him as well as everyone at Southeastern Sports Med. I very highly recommend Dr. Massey. Followup to bone repair surgery

Excellent physician! He listens to you regarding your issues and is supportive throughout the entire surgery and recovery process. So thankful my GP referred me to him specifically.

Dr. Massey did an outstanding job repairing my Achilles in August 2021. I had the same surgery, by a different orthopedic care team, four years before and I had a lot of complications from the surgery and recovery. Experiencing that made me very apprehensive about surgery; however, Dr. Massey explained the entire process and managed my care from start to finish. His surgical technique had me up and walking in less than 8 weeks with no complications. I would, 10 out of 10, recommend his services to my family and friends. Dr. Massey was very pleasant & knowledgeable about the procedure needed to alleviate the pain in my knee. Surgery appears to be successful & hoping for a speedy recovery.

I didn't realize that I had a negative experience until seeing a few other physicians who assessed my injury much more effectively from a cost and recovery standpoint. At Southeastern Sports Medicine and Orthopedics Dr. Massey immediately suggested an MRI, leading to a costly bill and an undiagnosed injury. The PT staff at SSMO were very knowledgable, but I only was recommended to see them after the MRI. I would recommend looking into other options for hospitals/physicians prior to visiting SSMO. Truly one of the best physicians I have ever seen. Kind, compassionate, and truly caring. I had a broken and disclocated toe, which had to be put back in place. This was my first time seeing Dr. Massey, he came highly recommended by my own orthopaedic doctor. My first appointment he made me feel at ease, great bedside manner. My surgery was the following week, the procedure involved repairing hammertoe and bunion repair. I have alot of medical problems, one of them being I can't take pain meds. He saw to it I was given altering meds. From the first night I had very little pain. Throughout the 5 week recovery time my pain level was minor, if any. Today week 5 with pin removal, did not feel him remove it. Best doctor ever!!! Highly recommend him, if you need foot or ankle surgery. I was referred to Dr. Massey by my neighbor, who is a physical therapist. She said Dr. Massey's patient's seemed to recover faster and have less pain. I was extremely happy with my result.

He got me fat cos I had to sit 8 weeks but he was well worth it!! I was treated better there than at mission hospital. Pardee Dr Massey is the best thing Since boiled crawfish ??! He’s a keeper y’all lucky dawgs !!!!!!

Just wanted to say thank you so very much to Dr. Matthew Massey, MD! I broke my right pinkie toe at an impossible angle & was worried that it would heal back crooked or be sticking out to the side. My toe was x-rayed to find out where the breaks were, gently put back in place, buddy taped & I was given an orthopedic shoe for comfort. Dr. Massey was very thorough during my exams to make sure that I was healing back correctly/straight & explained/walked me through my healing process to where I could understand everything we were doing for my little guy! Thank you Sir for making this such an easy & pleasant experience, considering!

Dr. Massey one of the best doctors I have had. Great bedside manner, and each time I visited he explained every aspect of what to expect. My surgery was repairing hammertoe and bunion. He is rude jumps to his conclusion vs listening to your concerns. when his conclusion is ruled out than there's just nothing wrong with you. High and mighty attitude that your concerns are irrelevant because he's the doctor and you are not. He might be good for a already known issue but not good in actually examining, evaluating and finding out the cause of a problem. I got better informed about the problem from a physical therapist knowing body tissue connectivity better than Massey. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR!!

Worst Doctor I Ever Been. He didn’t have my note from my previous doctors. He could open my CT Scan Very On professional.

This rude and condescending so called doctor was barely in the exam room for 30 seconds. Did not even give us a chance to speak. Told us what he was going to do and left the room. Would NOT recommend to my worst enemy.

I am so grateful for Dr. Massey replacing my ankle. I was in misery every step that I took. I was also standing 5 to 6 hours working which made my ankle even more painful. My surgery was In October and it was a journey to get back to walking but, it was worth the time it took. I am able to do anything I was before having a problem. THANK YOU!

Dr Massey is an outstanding doctor. He was so kind and understanding and answered all my questions. He did surgery on my big toe and the next toe to it. My big toe was standing nearly straight up when I went to him. I had already had 3 surgery’s on it without good results. When he took off my bandage I was so happy I nearly cried. My toe was lying completely flat. Dr Massey was so compassionate and was very happy that I was so pleased. I had suffered so long I could not find words to tell him how grateful I was. I was also very satisfied with his staff who were always very kind and was truly concerned about me.

Takes time great personality,treats you like family and knows what he’s doing. He is an excellent Doctor that is very caring and is interested in the lives of his patients and I would recommend him to anyone with foot, knee, and toe problems. I'm proud to know him as time goes on and have him on my list of care providers. May God Bless him and all the patients that he cares for!

Dr Massey is top flight professional. He took time to listen, use technology available, and the properly diagnose the problem [bone chip floating in left ankle], and then perform the necessary procedure to correct the problem. He is a no nonsense, orderly doctor who is recognized by his peers "as one of the best" to do difficult procedures. Thank you Dr. Massey.

We cannot thank Dr. Massey enough for the care he has given my daughter. She suffered a traumatic tri-malleolar fracture with dislocation, which require surgery and hardware to repair. He was the second opinion we went for and my thirteen year old picked him because "he seems confident without being arrogant and he gets athletes and will help get me back to playing sports again." He has a matter of fact demeanor but is very kind and has taken awesome care of her. I was worried how the scar would look and prayed it would not look butchered (like some I have seen). Her scar is beautiful and will barely be visible. We cannot say enough good things about him through this experience.

I had a fractured great toe that a podiatrist had "watched" for three months. That toe was resting on the two adjacent toes, while I walked 5 miles a day and over cobblestone walkways throughout Normandy, Giverney, and Paris, France. The adjacent toes were very painful. The podiatrist offered me the option of amputating my second toe as a solution. I made an appointment with Dr, Massey and he fused this great toe in order to straighten it. That was on 28 May. I kept it elevated and rested it for three weeks but walked without bearing weight on it and best of all no pain post operatively.. I have been walking two miles a day without bearing weight on my forefoot for 6 weeks and today I started walking bearing weight on it for 2 1/2 miles, straight toe and NO pain. I am an 80 year old diabetic. KUDOES to Dr. Massey

Dr. Massey took the time to listen to me and seemed genuinely concerned with my well-being. He communicated his diagnoses and recommendations very clearly. He was knowledgeable, relatable, and has an excellent supporting staff.

He has taken real good care of me! He did a wonderful job on my foot! Will highly recommend!

Dr. Massey was very attentive to my ankle injury and to my questions and concerns leading up to the surgery. Dr. Massey explained in detail the surgical process, after care and what to expect as I went through Physical Therapy. My only regret is that I wish that I had sought out Dr. Massey's expertise sooner. My ankle is now as strong if not stronger than it's ever been. I now have peace of mind by having a stable ankle as I had suffered many years with a very unstable ankle due to numerous previous injuries. I would easily recommend Dr. Massey for any foot/ankle concerns you may have.

Bone spur removed and I am back to pain free walking!

I came to Dr. Massey with chronic ankle instability in my right ankle that was causing severe pain. He concluded I needed to have what he called an "internal brace" put in after repairs were done to hold my ankle together more permanently to prevent anymore damage/instability in the future. This was, by far, the fastest recovery I have had for a surgery like this. I can't express how happy I am with the results on this surgery and everything Dr. Massey did for me!

I am a 56 year old woman. I broke 3 bones in my ankle. I was seen by Dr Massey. He is a wonderful surgeon with a great bedside manner. I am healing better than expected and views of my xrays online get exemplary comments on how well he repaired the breaks. I am extremely happy with my choice in Dr Massey! I would send my own mother to him!

It was back in September, day after surgery he was up walking like nothing ever happened. He healed very fast and has been on the go every since. We were sent to Dr. Massey when my 12 year old had a bad ankle break and sprain. We went to the Turtle Creek office and every visit was quick and easy, and Dr Massey was very personable. He and the staff made my son feel very comfortable. We would definitely recommend him.

From answering questions, the surgery performed, and every visit, Dr. Massey and his staff have set the standard in medical care. My daughter, who is also a medical provider, referred me to Dr. Massey after I injured my knee playing tennis. She is a runner and had also been examined and advised by Dr. Massey. I had surgery and followup physical therapy. Both Dr. Massey and the PT listened to me, became familiar with my lifestyle, and worked with me to get me back to doing all the activities that I enjoy doing. From my first visit with Dr. Massey, I felt very confident that I had the right Doctor. Doctor Massey was very clear on how he would treat my torn meniscus. My surgery went very well and my follow up therapy sessions enabled me regain my firm footing.

I'm a physical therapist who had the misfortune of sustaining an ankle fx/dislocation. I was blessed to have had someone recommend Dr. Massey to be while I was in the ER. He is an exceptional, highly skilled physician who made me feel confident that I would achieve the outcomes I wanted. He's very progressive with his post-op protocol which allowed me to have the physical capability to return to work without restrictions short of 3 months post -op. I recommend him highly without any reservation!

Dr. Massey provided the utmost care to me following an ER visit that turned directly to a hospital stay and surgery all in the same day. For me, he has the combination that I would look for in a physician and was lucky he was working the weekend shift at Mission Hospital when I arrived in the morning with severe hip pain. Dr. Massey fused my big toe because of arthritis. I followed Dr. Massey’s recovery instructions exactly. Within 4-5 months I was wearing my normal shoes and I have zero pain. Do not let the name of his practice stop you from using Dr. Massey for foot and knee issues. He is very talented, well educated, he listens and shows that he cares. He was very attentive to my questions. Foot surgery is horrible and I found the best doctor to provide my care.

Dr. Massey was able to see me within a few days of my develping a swollen left knee and schedule an MRI to pinpoint my problem. He was able to diagnose my torn meniscus and do outpatient surgery quickly. He was clear, concise, and compassionate with care and followup. I understood the expectations of physical therapy and what to expect postoperatively. I suffered from a torn meniscus and Dr. Massey performed surgery in July. Great experience and results. I completed a 7+ mile hike in the mountains last Saturday and suffered no ill effects. Woke up Sunday morning completely pain free. I can't say enough about the wonderful experience I had using Dr. Massey.

PARS is minimally invasive cutting down on infection and recovery time. Also, my scar is only 3 cm compared to the open surgery that leaves a huge scar and has high risk of infection. I was scheduled for the open surgery but luckily I found Dr Massey and have been very happy with the results. He explained the process thoroughly and has stayed on top of my recovery. I am 3 months out of surgery and have started back to some athletic activities. Can't image having done it any other way or with any other doctor. Go to Dr Massey.
