Dr. Matthew Stephen Mckillop

BRILLIANT, SKILLED, COMPASSIONATE, ONE OF A KIND! I had a defibrillator placed at a local hospital after surviving a VF cardiac arrest, but after multiple defib shocks I was off of work, and denied disabiilty pay without a definite diagnosis. I was taken to the VA ER in Gainesville on a late Saturday night after another defib shock. A tall friendly doc walked in after about 5 min. and asked if I had been seen yet. Told him 'I'm still waiting for the cardiologist'. He said 'that's me, I'm on weekend duty'. He had never met me, yet showed a sense of urgency to take on my case and help me in a situation where work disability was being denied due lack of diagnosis. Shortly after he was able to diagnose my rare cardiomyopathy, did an EP study that was able to provide clear diagnosis, and ablations despite very unstable arrhythmia. Greatly skilled at procedures - I had several full defib shocks overall before the ablations and defib replacement he did and have NONE since. You will not find a more talented and congenial doc. Even the pressures of cardiology and emergencies don't change his manner. As anyone with severe cardiomyopathy and arrhythmias knows, when something happens you do not know where it will end or how to stop it. It was a great blessing to have a doc that had the intuition, surgical skill, and calming influence to get me through and still going strong today- A heart of gold and hands inspired by God . Dr. McKillop's professional knowledge has definitely been a lifesaver! When nervous about unexpected diagnosis of needing an ICD implant, he explained disease & recommended treatment in detail. Prior to implant, he answered questions and took addl' measures to ensure my trust in understanding options. LESS THAN ACCEPTABLE- Dr. or Nurse...DO NOT return your callS after procedure if you need follow up questions answered. You are ALONE with monitoring device & any issues w paperwork for employer!

Dr. McKillop was my cardio doc on electrophysiologic study which found a greatly concealed case of ARVC. His ablation procedure prevented another huge storm of defib VF/VT shocks. With the severity of my case, I would not be alive today 3 years later without Dr. McKillop's intuition about my problem, skill in EP and ablation, and support in my recovery. He's in an extremely busy surgery/EP group, yet always took time to discuss options, then results with me. THANKS DOC! 6 stars all the way

I have AFib. No one has been able to keep it under control. I saw Dr McKillop and we talked and decided the best course of action was an ablation. I had had an ablation in 2010 by a different Dr. and it did not work and made it worst.Dr. McKillop did an ablation fourteen months ago and have not gone out of rhythm since. I believe Dr. McKillop is a great doctor and recommend him to anyone.
