I had an anterior -he’s a specialist- total hip replacement. He was perfect. I highly recommend Dr. Stewart.

Last July after much suffering with a worn out hip at 75 years old I went to Dr Stewart and it was determined I needed a FULL HIP REPLACEMENT. I was uneasy about the operation because I knew it was pretty extensive but Dr Stewart gave me hope of pain relief so I had it replaced. To my surprise it was or seemed to be one of the easiest things I have ever went through. The hospital was excellent, Dr Stewart was excellent and from the day after till now I have not had a "single" pain in that hip, using no pain killers after 1st day! I could not believe it! I would HIGHLY refer anyone to the care of Dr Stewart and staff! (eight months later and enjoying my new hip with no pain) Thank you Dr Stewart for everything! PS---I had the ANTERIOR type surgery, everyone tells me it is far better in recovery time than the POSTERIOR surgery, and it was indeed for me!

This review is focused on my recent total hip replacement, the second hip and third replacement Dr Stewart has done for me at Hughston Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, AL. The first hip and ankle went so well, over the last decade or so, that there was no question that we would choose Dr Stewart and the Hughston Clinic again, even though it is several hours away. The experience and the results again validated my trust in Dr Stewart and the team in Phenix city. The work of everyone there was amazing, and the recovery was rapid. It has already restored a great deal of mobility. Eight weeks out, there is very little remaining deficit, and I'm able to do reasonable sessions of walking and recumbent exercise bike--up to an hour. It helped a lot that there is a local Hughston therapy shop with a great staff. I would (and have) recommend Hughston and Dr Stewart to family and friends.

Dr. Stewart was able to quickly diagnose and treat my persistently aching hip. I got an appointment with Dr. Stewart fairly quickly. Everything from check-in to triage to x-ray was done quickly by friendly professionals. My wait time was minimal. I know that when I have to go to the Hughston Clinic for a problem that I will receive the best care and treatment. Because my problem was my hip, Dr. Stewart was new to me but he met the same high level of care that I have experienced from my other doctors at Hughston Clinic. I will go no where else for my orthopedic problems.

I wound up needing a complete right hip replacement. Spoke to Dr. Stewart at the practice site. Extremely nice, quick assessment of the situation. I had already seen an associate at the practice who would be there at the surgery and recommended him highly. Dr. Stewart came in the day of surgery, reassuring my husband and myself that things would be fine, and there would be after care. He always answered any questions, no matter what they were. I would highly recommend him as an orthopedic surgeon.

Dr was friendly, introduced himself, answered questions, made me feel important to him.

Dr. Stewart was very professional and concern about my knee. He explain what we would do everything to make sure I don’t have a whole lot of pain.

Dr. Stewart is amazing! He did a right total knee replacement for me on 11/09/2021. Even on the office visits he took his time with me and he answered all my questions. Very professional and very courteous.

Dr. Stewart explains everything and more. Very patient with all my questions.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Dr. Stewart was thorough and took his time to make sure I understood what he was saying and he would stop and ask every now and then if I had any questions or concerns about what he was saying or the pain or other issues I was having with my hip and how it was affecting my day to day activities. He explained options that I could try before surgery but, I unfortunately had already tried those options and they did not do anything to help.

Dr Stewart was very kind, knowledgeable, and , ultimately, helpful.

I fell and was taken to La grange clinic. I was told I had a fractured hip and taken to surgery. they operated on me and for one year i suffered pain then this wonderful surgeon who checked my hip by x-ray and I was told I need a total hip replacement I will forever be grateful for Dr. Matthew Stewart, he not only is a great surgeon he is a wonderful person, Thank you Dr. Stewart I can walk again.

Dr Stewart just replaced my left knee. My surgery was performed outpatient. The first night at home was the only real difficult day. Each day has been better with only minor pain. I am recovering very well after 2 weeks. He is a great doctor. Has a very good bedside manner, listens to his patient, and must be a very good surgeon since my recovery has been much much easier than what people had told me to expect.

Dr. Stewart was very professional and did a great job with my surgery and after care. He took the time to explain everything he did and always answered all my questions. I would recommend him highly to anyone needing an orthopedic Doctor . especially in the foot or ankle area. Thanks Dr. Stewart for a job well done.

Dr. Matthew Stewart totally replaced one of my ankles. I was very apprehensive because this is a relatively new procedure. I couldn’t have asked for better care and professionalism from any doctor. I highly recommend him.

I would recommend Dr. Stewart to anyone needing an orthopedic procedure. Although his specialty is feet and ankles, he did an excellent job with mu husband's recent hip replacement. As an RN with years of experience, I was impressed with his excellent communication skills and his caring attitude. I was also impressed that he covered all bases on discharge by prescribing medications for post op pain, nerve pain and muscle pain. The entire experience from admission to discharge was a wonderful experience, as surgery was performed at Jack Hughston Hospital. From the friendly knowledgeable staff to the cleanliness of the hospital, we were no less than very impressed.

Dr Stewart was in a big hurry the day of my appointment. When I picked up a copy of the x-ray so I could get a second opinion, there were several pages on false documentation included. The documents stated that he had examined both of my hips which he did not do. He never touched me. I never let my chair. It also stated I had a “normal gait” which is false. I have a very noticeable limp. Several other false statements. I went to him to get a baseline for my hip. I got a falsified report which doesn’t help me. It will be interesting to see what he reports to the insurance company.

Dr. Stewart did an awesome job on my knee replacement. He is always kind and listens to you , with a caring attitude! I certainly will recommend him to others.

Dr Stewart is very knowledgeable and knows how to set his patient's mind at ease. Because of his confidence with his craft, and his kind, caring manner, I never hesitated to put myself in his care. I needed a total hip replacement and, because of his skill, I have had no problems with recovery....walking without walker and cane aide only 4 days following surgery!!

I had my bunions and a nerve removed from both my feet in November. Best decision I ever made. I feet are healing and have less pain than before. The staff in the office were amazing and Dr. Stewart gave me all the information I needed to understand the procedure and post surgery recovery would be like. My recovery has been slow but steady and I am thrilled that my feet are no longer a constant source of pain.

I was able to get an appt the same day I called because I believed my ankle was broken. It was broken and surgery was next day. Thankful Dr Stewart was able to see me so quickly.

Had a total Rupture of Achilles tendon and needed surgery, I was real apprehensive about doing it. Dr. Stewart did a great job and 5 weeks into recovery all is going great.

Dr. Stewart replaced my left hip in Feb of this year and replaced my wife's right ankle in Nov 2017. Both events were life changing for us. Cannot say enough about the great personal and professional care we were given. Hughston Clinic, Dr. Stewart and his staff were outstanding.

I was recommended to the Hughston Clinic by another orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Stewart performed my bunion surgery a little over 3 weeks ago. He is detailed oriented and informative before, during and after. I would have him operate on me again without hesitation and recommend him to anyone who may need this or any other procedure.

I underwent a anterior hip replacement on my left hip. I was up and walking the next day. I mostly used a walker for the nest week and a half but did walk short distances without any assistance. It is now 4 weeks after the surgery and I have used a walker only once or twice (I admit I overdid things on those days). I've had very little pain and am down to one NSAID in the morning and will likely quit it soon. I never took anything stronger. PT team is very good and I strongly recommend it.

Dr. Stewart took the time to answer all of my questions. He then gave me my best options for treatment and explained them until I understood my options.

Dr. Stewart and his staff went above and beyond for me! Dr. Stewart even called me in the evening with the results of a MRI to ease my mind and to discuss my options. As a medical professional myself, this type of care is rare and he exceeded my expectations! First class care in my book!!
