The doctor was rushing to give prescription without even looking at the issue I had. I can totally relate to the review by "Mallorie M" here.

I got laser tattoo treatment here, and it left me scarred, was $500 per treatment. The doctor also kept bragging about how much money he made in front of me. Also, I had minimal outbreaks on my face and he gave me an ointment that made my face very puffy and react bad to it. I don’t recommend this place.

Dr. Coverman is a life saver. ( literally speaking) I had been seeing him for checkups due to my fair skin and he diagnosed and treated me for some small benign moles. During one of my check ups he noticed a peculiar mole and did a biopsy. it was melanoma cancer. I was so lucky because he caught it before it spread and I am fine now! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! he also charged me less once because I had no insurance. He cares and he is good! Dr. Coverman is a life saver. He thought that the lipoma I had was “bone related”, completely wrong diagnostic. He wasn’t accurate about his diagnostic, he had to ask for support who actually realized that his diagnostic was wrong. Then he proposed to realize an unnecessary surgery, I got other 2 other doctor opinions who didn’t recommend the surgery. Also he make me exams that didn’t apply to my case

I was told that my insurance covers my expenses and they didn't charge me at that time. Mails were flooding me afterwards saying I owe them this and that money and cost me a lot of money for a treatment that never worked. The doc saw my skin and offered me 3 types of treatments which I have no idea on and asked me which one I'd like to use. And he was giving me discount coupons for one of them and I had no option but to take it and spend my money and my skin condition got even worsen. I had to wait about a year and went to another doctor and with no if and or buts the treatment worked with my insurance covering it in full. This place is nothing but you'd trash your money for nothing. I was told that my insurance covers my expenses and they didn't charge me at that time. When I say that Dr. Michael Coverman is a miracle worker, believe me he is. As a person with severe to extreme eczema I was hopeless and went to him as my last hope. 10+ years ago today my mother took me to him for medication and it worked miracles on me. Now, when my eczema has spread throughout my entire body, Dr. Coverman gave me medication which provided relief in a matter of a few hours. It’s definitely worth paying a visit to a completely knowledgeable dermatologist, and Dr. Coverman is that dermatologist. When I say that Dr. Michael Coverman is a miracle worker, believe me he is. I, have seen Dr. Coverman for several years. He and his nurse are so kind hearted, not to mention the excellent care. I had a spot on my face that he delicately removed, and cosmetic procedures like fillers and Botox. Please read! I don't want someone else to go through what I have gone through. Do not schedule an appointment with Dr. Coverman. I am very surprised Westlake wants a doctor like this on their staff. I made an appointment to have some spots looked at. I have moles and wanted to make sure they were doing okay. I waited an excessive amount of time before I was seen. When I finally get into the room his nurse told me to undress to my underwear and wait. Around 10 min later doctor Coverman comes in and ask me what is going on. Before I could even point out spots or explain my concerns he interrupts me and asks me to stand so he can look over my body. As I'm still trying to talk to him he tells me to sit down, grabs a marker and starts marking numbers on my skin next to moles on my body. One on my upper arm, one on my leg, and one on my face. I ask him what's going on, and he says, "these are too dark, so we are going to remove those". I let him know they haven’t gotten any darker since the last doctor looked at them and if he saw something in particular. He was talking to his nurse at that point to get a camera and take pictures of the ones he marked. I tried to ask him about dry skin and pointed to a couple of areas on my body and he quickly said, "we'll get you cream". In all of my years seeing doctors I've never felt so rushed, especially for something that is permanent and likely to leave scarring. He started telling me he was going to let his nurse prep me and he would be back. I had to jump in and tell him I didn't want the one removed on my face as I know it's deep and it will likely scar really bad. He said whatever he does, they can always come back later and try to fix it either with skin lightening treatments or cosmetic surgery. I should have stopped right there and left. His nurse prepped/numbed the other two locations and got the tools ready to remove them. He comes back in, puts on gloves (doesn't even wash his hands) and walks over to the little table the tools are laid on, grabs a (unknown to me) a regular razor blade and heads for the mole on my leg. To let everyone know, I've had moles removed before. The dermatologist used a cylindrical blade just the diameter of the mole, cut around it, lifted it slightly, then with a razor blade removed it at the bottom. This creates the smallest, symmetrical scar. This man grabbed a finger-full of my skin and went to hacking. The slice he made on my leg was jagged and 4 times as big as the mole. I of course have my eyes closed. He didn't speak to me throughout any of this. He then moves up to the one on my arm and until now, I think he is doing everything correctly. He grabs my skin with his thumb and index finger and starts slicing again. He cut a misshapen hole in my arm three times as big as my mole. When I look down and see what he had done I was so stunned I couldn't say anything. He quickly said, you're good to go, and left. His nurse put band aids on the cuts and started picking up after the procedure. I HAD TO ASK FOR POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS! They didn’t seem interested in filling me in. I started tearing up and felt all I could do is put on my clothes and leave. I didn't have the courage then to say anything. When I got home, I emailed several law firms for advice, but of course do to the small claim my case wasn't accepted. Which is fine. My main goal is to let everyone I can know about the terrible experience I had and hope that you take this into consideration when booking an appointment. I don't want anyone or anyone's kids to end up with terrible scars. Even now, months later, I have not worn any tank tops, skirts or shorts, and won't be doing so this summer as a result of this man's hand. Please read! I'm so glad I found Dr. Coverman. He has changed my life! After suffering through a strange itchy rash covering my entire body for 6 months last year with other doctors not running any real tests to see what was wrong with me and keeping me on unnecessary steroids that caused bad side effects, Dr. Coverman gave me the attention I deserved. He not only listened to my story about how the rash started and the other treatments other doctors had tried, he also ran a series of tests to figure out what the cause was of anything he thought it could be. Because of Dr. Coverman, I finally had an answer for my condition, lichen planus. It's a condition I will have to deal with off and on for the rest of my life, but he came up with a treatment plan that doesn't involve me being on any long term steroids that cause any bad side effects and my rash has basically gone away. He really made me feel like he cares what is going on with me and is there for me whenever I need him. I highly recommend him and Westlake Dermatology for anyone out there searching for answers when no one seems to be listening. I'm so glad I found Dr. Coverman. He has changed my life! Dr. Coverman lasered two blood vessels (one on each eye) but very close to the eyes themselves that two Washington DC oculoplastic surgeons told me could not be removed without irreparable damage. He also corrected an upper lip scar from teenage acne (and again, other doctors told me could not be repaired). He was confident about the procedures and vanished these two issues in only a few minutes. It is great to not see these in the mirror and I recommend him highly.

On paper, he did what I paid money for. But I did not have a good experience with him overall. Literally every appointment I tried to gather info, ask questions and point things out that would be of relevance to my situation (like.. it's MY body, and I'M paying for these services) and he always is in a hurry to get out the door. He'd look at me like I'm crazy or harassing him when I'd do what I previously stated. Like at one of my appointments when he was in his usual hurry to get out the door, I blatantly asked "well dr., can I talk to you for a second?" He replies "Well, what do you want to talk about?" In a very exasperated, confused way. And this last appointment, the procedure finishes I say something about scheduling a follow up, he says "no, you don't need to come back. Good luck." walks out the door. Very peculiar person. He rubbed me the wrong way. On paper, he did what I paid money for. But I did not have a good experience with him overall. I was 17 when my medical disease started while living at Bergstrom Air Force Base. Bergstrom did not have the services I needed and I was allowed to seek a private dermatologist and I was relieved and pleased to see that Dr.Coverman was in private practice here in Austin after his time in the Air Force where I met him many years earlier and that he decided to open a practice in Austin. He treated me with the most advanced treatments at the time and I was able to lead a more comfortable life and learned a great deal about my disease which has no cure from him. I am now once again his patient all these many years later as my disease process is proving to be rather resistant to the most advanced treatments available. Yet he hasn't and won't give up when a patient presents a challenging case. His office is comfortable, inviting, and feels like entering a very nice living room. His entire staff is personable, friendly, efficient, and very professional. They make you feel comfortable and are as compassionate about your health care needs as Dr. Coverman himself. They greet you with a smile, and work quickly to let Dr. Coverman know you are there and are seen quickly. This is not an office like some others with a row of 6 or 7 rooms where the doctor makes his way down the rooms, spends four or five minutes with you, then leaves to go to the next room. When Dr. Coverman comes into the room, he is polite, calming, and it's very clear you have his undivided attention. You are his primary focus for as long as you need to speak to him. He is a textbook of dermatological medicine who speaks "patient speak" and doesn't make you uneasy by using medical terminology that you won't understand. He carefully explains his thought process in diagnosing your condition and immediately knows the most up to date, most modern treatments available and explains what he's prescribing, what the medication does, what you can expect from the medication, and will allow you the time you need to ask any questions you may have and will make certain you understand his treatment plan and instructions. Also being board certified in internal medicine, he has spotted other medical conditions that concerned him and he has many colleagues who practice in different specialties. He knows them personally and professionally and consults with them on a regular basis in case I need to be referred to a specialist for something he determines needs further investigation outside of my dermatological problems. He is soft spoken, knowledgeable, empathetic, and and concerned about your TOTAL well being and you feel like you're just talking to very good friend. Whether you see him for simple dermatological conditions, or stubborn, resistant conditions like mine, your visit doesn't end when you leave his office. He stays current reading the most up to date medical journals , and attends frequent conferences. If your condition is particularly challenging such as mine, keeping my personal information private, he will consult with other specialists at these conferences and will seek advice and guidance from fellow dermatologists to see if there's something else he can do for you that other doctors might be trying There have been many times at my follow up visits he will tell me that he spoke to other dermatologists, or pharmaceutical representatives or read new research and will tell me, that "There's something else I learned we might consider trying" or "I spoke to a pharmaceutical company and learned that there are more advanced treatments in the final stages of testing so as they are released, we can try those". He also understands the psychological problems associated with certain dermatological conditions and will ask how I'm coping and will suggest seeking help for those struggles if I'm having difficulties. Not only does he treat me, he coordinates with my other doctors I'm seeing for other medical issues, he refers me to other specialists when he becomes concerned about other medical problems, and I can't imagine going to any other dermatologist. I went to see Dr. Coverman to be treated for a suspicious spot above my eyebrow. I received treatment and pleased the procedure was performed without leaving a scar. I also began Botox on my forehead area, and love the no more wrinkles look! I began to get comments like "you look tired, or are you mad"? It was time for a Juvederm filler from my nose, down to where the corners of my mouth were turning down. Amazing, I never have felt the needle. He is so great to explain before each procedure and during, exactly what he is doing. I really appreciate the professional and respectful attitude of the entire staff. Dr. Coverman is so intelligent, and has a wonderful chair-side manner. I retired early from the medical field, and in my opinion this office is for sure a 5 star rated medical practice. I feel comfortable asking any question and have never felt preasured into doing a procedure I wasn't sure about. I have been with Dr. Coverman for about 10 years, during which time I have come to believe in his knowledge of medicine, the carefulness of his thought processes and positive outcomes of his decisions and procedures. In solving a recent problem with a foot condition, Dr. Coverman distributed pictures to some 50 of his colleagues (with my permission!) to see where any of them might have experiences with the issue. Several times, he has reached out to me by phone to review his findings. I initially thought Dr. Coverman a bit arrogant in his claims, but was so wrong. He has not overstated his abilities or experience. By contrast, he isproven a wonderful, capable professional. If you seek a dermatologist, it will be worth your time to check him out. He has chosen his staff well and they have become like family. I rather wish Google had more stars, lol.
