Michael Charles Neuenschwander

This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a doctor's office. Condescending and snide come to mind. Literally told me that 58 year old women don't get sinus infections. Haven't been able to breathe for almost three months now, but there's nothing wrong. After a sinus picture, my right eye started hurting and pouring water. His response? "Take her blood pressure". Won't get another dime from me.

Dr. Neuenschwander was very thorough. He spent time discussing my health concerns. He performed surgery on me in November. He is an excellent surgeon. I’m feeling so much better. I highly recommend him.

I am very pleased with the visit I had recently with Dr. Neuenschwander. He was very professional and he and his staff treated me very, very well.

He is a very good listener and personable. I could see him problem solving the whole time. He came up with a solution that was remarkable and solved all my problems. I highly recommend.

I recently had surgery (a parathyroidectomy) and found Dr. N., who was recommended to me by 2 other doctors, to be highly professional in that he took time to explain every detail of the surgical procedure as well as what to possibly expect post-op. In addition, he, when questioned, had very good explanations why he followed certain procedures over alternative methods. He is definitely a surgeon I would trust. He was extremely condescending and sent me away claiming "it just doesn't work that way" when I described my symptoms. 3 years later I am finally diagnosed with mycetoma fungal sinusitis, or fungus balls in my sphenoid and frontal sinuses. I tried to tell him it was a fungal infection at the time. I gave him all the clues a qualified Otolaryngologist should need to perform a correct diagnosis, but I was told to go back to my primary care doctor and that he couldn't help me. He didn't even order any tests. No cultures, no biopsies, no CT scan. None of the things that could lead to a proper diagnosis. He simply wrote me off. If an ENT can't diagnose and remove fungus balls from the sinuses, who can? This guy is a joke.

He was very helpful and took time to answer my questions.

My 90 year old mother was referred to Dr Neuenschwander for biopsy of the temporal artery which runs up the side of the head. When he called with the results he stated that he had biopsied a VEIN instead of the artery and would have to do it again. If it is necessary to have this biopsy repeated, it will not be by him. My sweet mother had the stress of waiting for the procedure, having her head shaved and then waiting for the results. At her age any medical procedure is a risk and he did a biopsy of the wrong thing. Very knowledgeable and to the point. I didn’t get the feeling that he was there to gab and make small talk but he took time to answer my questions and explain my situation. As a voice teacher an professional singer I was very happy with my experience. I visited many ENTs over the years and it was refreshing to speak with someone who had knowledge of the singer’s experience. I refer all my students to him and they have also been pleased. I will definitely return although I hope I don’t have to! Very knowledgeable and to the point. In 2006 Dr. Neuenschwander saved my life and went to war with my insurance company who tried to deny my claim and within one week the insurance company approved my claim all because of Dr. Neuenschwander. He went well beyond the call of duty. I had a lump in my neck which turned out to be head and neck cancer. He immediately sent me to have an biopsy at the Atlanta cancer institute. The first ear nose and throat doctor I went to gave me a prescription of pills and told me it should take care of my problem. I left the office and immediately contacted ENT of Georgia and that's how I met my gaurdian angel. I'm currently a 12 and a half year cancer survivor and if it weren't for the exceptional care and due diligence of Dr. Neuenschwander, I assure you I wouldn't be here today. I'm ashamed that I haven't reached out to him in the past 12 and a half years to thank him. Well that's all changing. I just found out that he works in Henderson, North Carolina now and I called his office to personally thank him. In my opinion Dr. Neuenschwander is the best in the industry. I have 3 daughter's ages 33, 23 and 13. Subtract 12 and a half years from my daughter's ages and you'll see just how truly blessed I am to still be alive and to watch my daughter's turn in to beautiful young women. He is wonderful. He has helped so much. He is extremely knowledgeable and is willing to sit down with you and discuss all options. He is not pushy and you can tell that he cares about his patients.

I was actually looking for Dr. Neuenschwander for my daughter as he was such a great doctor for me 11 years when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's. He did the surgical biopsy on my neck and was so good that my scar is not visible at all. When the biopsy results were in, he called me at work himself to deliver the news. I came back with my son who was experiencing loss of smell and congestion. He also performed the surgery to remove his adenoids. He is a great doctor and surgeon. Wish he were still in GA so I could bring my daughter to him! I was referred by another doctor. Dr. Neuenschwander examined my need, reviewed the tests and gave me options. My choice was surgery and he did an outstanding job. My wife meet with him following my surgery and he was very positive. His explanation of the procedure was given in detail with relational examples. I personally felt good about how he explained the need I have, what could be done, what the negatives were but what he felt it would resolve. He is highly professional. His confidence gave me assurance and I'd not hesitate to trust his judgement and recommendations. He is a gifted surgeon and I'm grateful to him and his staff for how they've cared for me. Dr Neuenswander was amazing! He got me on the right treatment path!

I have chronic sinus problems with multiple surgeries over 20+ years. I have seen several ENT doctors in the area looking for help. Dr. Neuenschwander laid out a course of treatment that included medications and surgeries. He was very informative and spent time discussing my case and options. During surgery he found my sinus problems were more severe that originally estimated and instead of closing up and subjecting me to another surgery he spent the additional time to correct the problems he found then and there. Dr. Neuenschwander Is a results driven doctor with the experience and education to back it up. I have the utmost faith in him. I have chronic sinus problems with multiple surgeries over 20+ years. I saw this doctor for voice issues. He said that I had no polyps/nodules - just some muscle tension. I saw the speech therapist he recommended who worked with me for a few weeks and then suggested I get a copy of my images. The next visit she showed me them - on it was a circled polyp! Called the doctor and asked him to clarify, and he said he had told me I had a polyp. (No he hadn't.) After months of therapy I got a second opinion at Cedars-Sinai. I never had a polyp to begin with. Avoid him.

Dr. N. was awful. First, He was condescending, even though I've been living with & learning about my condition for years. He insisted on tests I told him in advance I couldn't afford & didn't need, and I'd brought images from a recent laryngoscopy instead. I went in to the appt seeking a PT rfrl, which my speech therapist and another laryngologist had recommended. Dr. N recommended voice surgery after the scope. It was upsetting and dangerously incorrect. Overall, a terrible doctor.

Terrible bed side manner. He made me feel really nervous to be there. He did a nasal endoscopy and still didn't know what was wrong with me. The endoscopy was over $900 for less than 2 minutes looking in my nose. Definitely do NOT recommend this Dr.

My 3 year old had an earring back stuck in her earlobe and we were referred to see Dr. Neuenschwander this morning. After he came in the room and we talked a minute he didn't even look at her ear! He felt it with his fingers for 2 seconds (literally) and decided she needed anesthesia the next morning (even mentioned an IV!) to have it surgically removed. The pediatrician ALMOST got it out in the office with just numbing cream so I was assuming he would try that and possibly worst case a numbing shot or laughing gas. Disappointed it was a waste of my time. I did ask him if it was possible with just numbing it in the office and he shot that idea down (again, WITHOUT LOOKING!) It is not in personality to say "Are you going to LOOK at her ear, doctor?" Instead I sat there thinking 'if he isn't going to look at her ear maybe this isn't the doctor for us'. Maybe he was having an off day he is after all, human, but I thought he was so extreme to quickly offer up my 3 year old for anesthesia when he did not look at the back of her ear where the stuck earring is visible. (Would post picture if I could.) Dr. Neuenschwander, please take the time to try next time. **Update** I got it out myself. No numbing cream, no tylenol, not even a single tear!It was not an earring back just a tiny ball of gunk. To know he was going to send my daughter for anesthesia when he could've gotten it out in 2 minutes... a little infuriating. I give him a huge thumbs down for wanting more money by putting my daughter through unnecessary surgery.
