Michael A. Rawlings

Dr. Rawlings and the IU Health in Mooresville office are excellent. He listened to my concerns and addressed each one one at a time, either giving me advice, medicine, or making referrals for each concern. I didn't wait long to be seen, but my appointment didn't feel rushed at all. I love that the lab is onsite. He's a great GP!

Pros: - Easy to schedule - Limited wait time - Lab + X-Ray on site - Dr. is personable - Dr. performed physical examination - Dr. explained anatomy and why he was ordering different tests/prescribing medications - Dr. readily ordered labs and radiology - Dr. readily prescribed medications Cons: - Made assumptions based on privilege, rather than facts. Assumed prenatal care that didn't exist, assumed medication was for chronic pain when it was for substance abuse disorder, assumed patient had established medical care. - Did not ask direct questions or acknowledge needs outside of his range of social or medical reference. Overall, I think that Dr. Rawlings would be a fantastic doctor if your needs are fairly general. Do not expect for him to think outside of the box, but he will be thorough and caring. In a GP that is pretty excellent.

I brought my mom to see Dr Rawlings last week. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist told me that Dr Rawlings was very “prompt”. For some reason, I took that to mean that he wouldn’t take the time to listen to my mother and I (she has ongoing complex medical issues, some of which specialists have not yet figured out). Thankfully, I couldn’t have been more wrong! Dr Rawlings listened to all of our concerns, was very thorough with his exam/recommendations for further treatment, made suggestions about making administering my mom’s meds easier, and, most importantly, he talked mostly TO MY MOM, the PATIENT (even though she has dementia, she’s still very capable of active listening and understanding most of what doctors say)! Most doctors who know about her dementia talk mostly to me and ignore her, which is saddening and demeaning to her. I’m so grateful to have found my mom a wonderful new PCP who MIGHT have finally figured out why she’s having dizzy spells and fainting/blacking out. Sometimes, I feel like you have to go back to square one and find a thorough PCP...the specialists in their respective fields sometimes can’t seem to see past the confines of their specialties. Very personable and takes time to explain everything. The staff is very nice too. 5 Stars

Dr. Rawlings is a good doctor, the reason for the low rating is due to the poor performance of the office staff. They are very nice but getting action on a referral is painful, the first referral sat for a week before any action was taken and I had to call the office in order to get action on it. The second referral has been sitting there now for about three weeks, so far I have called four times about this one and still no referral. I can't think of one valid reason for this to occur except that the "referral department" has no sense of urgency. A referral is generated because the issue isj beyond the doctors range of expertise, if one is in pain, waiting for three weeks for an escalation is unforgivable. Dr. Rawlings is a good doctor, the reason for the low rating is due to the poor performance of the office staff. Dr. Rawlings is a pretty good doctor and his nurse is very good. The issue is with the office staff, although friendly and usually helpful, the "referral" department is lousy, there is no sense of urgency, you have to call them repeatedly to get them working on your referral and sometimes that does not work. Been waiting for about three weeks now and despite promises of action, am still waiting to hear from them. Very disappointed.

Dr. Rawlings is a fantastic doctor. He stands out for the right reasons in a field thats become more about money than patient care. There is little or no wait time which is unheard of in pediatrics.
