Dr. Michael Scott Willens

Dr Willens treated me with lower back injections after my car accident and did wonders for my well being. It has been 15 years since he treated me and I am still doing well. I would definitely request and trust him Highly Recommended

I was referred to Dr. Willins by & through the Mayo clinic. I had explained to them my situation, they had no openings and gave me Dr. Willins Information. I’ve had many surgeries after a terrible car accident in 2008 where a truck ran a stop sign and literally crushed the car I was in. I’ve had multiple shoulder and back surgeries with both hips replaced with titanium with multiple titanium rods and screws in my spine. 13.5 years later life has not been what I would have liked. Meeting Dr. Willins gave me a new hope. He was truly after my success & some relief of pain. He was not the typical, here’s a prescription see you in 30 days. No, he truly wanted more for me. It’s all over his office of which he has a wonderful staff. It’s all over his practice , he wants to help. Of the 2 dozen doctors I’ve been under, he’s the best I’ve met. I recently relocated from New York a few months ago and was looking for a good pain management Dr. Based on the great online reviews I made an appointment with Dr Willens today and was very pleased. He actually took the time to sit and talk about my issues and didn’t rush through the visit. He was very pleasant & knowledgeable. Dr Willens has always seen to it, that i feel better than when i arrive. That's no easy feat. From my first visit, i think its going on over 5 years now. Dr Willens has treated me better than the VA, the fact that the VA cut us off with not even another doctor to go to. It was sorry your getting no more meds from us. I have been a patient of Dr. Willens for 2 years. Him and his staff are caring and always make sure you feel cared for. I have suffered from several herniated discs and have had multiple surgeries. Dr.Willens is very Disrespectful @ it's finest this man Abandoned me while I was laying on the table getting ready for my procedure (Ablation) November 28th 2021 (Recently ) Dr.Willens was about to start the procedure telling me he was gonna burn my nerves on the Left side of my body , so I asked him "why would you burn my nerves on the left side of my body when all my pain is on the Right side of my body? He stormed out the room like a child didn't explain why & didn't proceed with my procedure that day very unprofessional , so his nurse who was in the room with him & I told me "Dr. Willens doesn't want you coming back in the office all because .. I have the right to ask anything that I felt I wasn't comfortable with or maybe needed him to explain reason of.. but that didn't happen. I've been a loyal patient & spent thousands didn't deserve to be treated like that nor Abandoned by a doctor I thought I could trust. Absolute best Pain Mgmt doc I've had in 20+ years! Dr Willens is smart, personable, kind and works with you to alleviate your specific pain. He provides all kinds of treatments/procedures in house and has physical therapy there too. Staff is professional & caring. I definitely recommend them.

Dr. Willens is one of the kindest and most professional doctors I’ve ever met, he listens, asks the right questions, takes his time and is honest. I have suffered from three failed back surgeries and undergone several procedures over the last six years. Living with chronic pain is tough and it is been difficult journey finding a doctor that will take the time to listen and help me manage my pain. Dr. Willens is a godsend. The best pain Dr I've ever been to. Every time I go he gives me trigger point injections to help relax my muscles, which help tremendously! It's refreshing to find a physician who will help me in other ways besides prescribing medications. Everyone on his staff is great and so nice!

Dr Willens has taken me out of pain and returned the quality of my life without any use of opioids. I have spinal stenosis and at one time could hardly walk without pain in my lower back 2 years ago. I can say by following his directions of mindful back brace support when doing strenuous activities and supportive exercise I still enjoy a quality of life I didn’t think I would enjoy! Edited to add comment: The care and treatment I have received from Dr. Willens has allowed me to have a quality of life I was afraid was out of reach. He has always left the last say on treatments up to me, making sure I understand all of my options. Without exaggeration, I had lost most hope on staying mobile until I went to see him. Both my husband and myself have gone to Dr. Willens for several years. My aches are primarily old age related, but my husbands are nerve related and had been having less success with other doctors. Dr. Willens has helped him with steady , consistent help. The doctor assistants and clerical help are always quick to help and appointments are on time with no delays. We are very satisfied with his care and follow through.

Very poor experience ...had a appt to get shots in my hip..it was at 3. on Tues.9th Oct ..the office called me 8.03 am monday prior to appt..i asked if I could reschedule ..she said sure ..that at my next appt I could reschedule 3 days later I get a bill for 200 dollars for no show..was sure it was mistake cause I had just spoke to the office on Mon and they said I could reschedule..nothing mention it would cost me 200..my husband was to have been there for my procedure ..told me I had to have a driver..he wascalled out for storm damage in Tallahassee..if I had been told it was 200 fee i could have tried to get someone else to drive me....so now I owe them 200 for only giving them 31 hr notice not 48 hrs...and the office clerk was asked if I could reschedule prior to actually canceling my appt..I am furious..I feel they should have told me "" if you change your appt it will cost you"" . They cancelled an appointment after they claim to have not been able to reach us to collect a $50 reschedule fee after we had already paid $200 to book the appointment. Ultimately they did fit us in and got the treatment for my friend. Note to management Patients are already going through a tough time in life before coming here. This is my first experience with pain management. I experience pain every day. When i said I was going to a pain clinic others told me all they would do is give me pills. Not so with Dr. Willens. After an in-depth discussion of your pain, he suggests different ways your pain can be treated, not just pills. Dr. Willens is using a couple different treatments for my pain and I have experienced some easing of the pain. Pain management is not an easy quick fix I really appreciate the kindness and patience that Not only Dr. Willens shows but the compassion of his staff on a routine basis.

Dr. Willens is a compassionate doctor with a real desire to make his patients well. Instead of just writing scripts and showing you the door he solicits your input on prior treatment, why or why not it might have worked and is there a particular path you might want him to incorporate in his treatment plan.

I have been seeing Dr. Willens for the past year and he is very compassionate and caring about giving the best care to the patient. I was impressed with his knowledge on my first visit. I have had chronic pain for the last 18 years from a bad accident. We moved here from Michigan 2 years ago and it took me over a year to find a good doctor. In my opinion, Dr. Willens is a fantastic, caring doctor. I would highly recommend him to anyone who has bad pain issues. He is the best!

I have been through many doctors before Dr. Willens, I was and am still completely amazed every time I have an appointment or simply call his office. The staff are always friendly and willing to help and do help unlike other offices I’ve dealt with. Dr. Willens is always concerned about my wellbeing and making sure my quality of life is the best it can be!

What a cocky jerk! Won’t let you speak, just shoots you up with an unidentifiable substance while you try to eek out questions. Drops patients if they are depressed. Gets you hooked on all kinds of pills and then is so disrespectful if he doesn’t like the outcome he drops you after years of this abuse- through some office paperwork that they don’t want you to read, just sign it. And he never reappears. Complete waste of time money and stress.

Every appointment that i had with Dr. Willens ended with me still having questions for him while he was exiting the room. It is like he has an allotted amount of minutes for each patient and when that time is up you are out of luck if you are not not finished talking with him. There are no exceptions to this, this happened every single time. Dr. Willens really needs to work on that. Outside of that he is a really nice guy, and very knowledgeable.

After relocating from Fort Myers, Florida to Fleming Island, Florida I conducted research on pain management specialists. I was being treated for severe back pain due to herniated discs and arthritis. Dr. Michael Willens was highly recommended by my specialist in Fort Myers. Previous treatments only helped reduce the pain on a temporary basis. Dr. Willens diagnosis gave me hope that I could be treated in a way that would lead me to long term relief and resume a normal life style.

Dr. Willens and his staff are cordial, efficient, Professional. My husband is seeing him, and getting very good results.

I saw dr Willens several times. He said a procedure that involved a needle and medication in my neck would help my wrist. It was broken severely ovr a year ago and now i have chronic pain syndrome in it, which will get worse over time. After canceling on me several times and ordering me a seditive, we did the procedure. It was painful. When i went from the table to the chair, my throat closed. I couldn't talk right, swallow and i had a rough cough all night. The next morning (today) , i am in sever pain. I feel like my left tonsil has been removed. I had that surgery yrs ago so i know that pain. Feel like a knife has cut my throat. My shoulder and chest hurt. Im dizxy, and i have had a headache all day. I dont know how my wrist feels because the rest of me feels like pure hell. I called and asked for help and was told he wasnt comfortable giving me pills for 2 days, til i felt ok. ...very uncompashionate. Only wants to experiment on patients with painful risky procedures that hurt and will csuse u lotsa down time. I dont recommend him at all....the best at what? Not givin a flip is what hes best at. Dr. Willens is knowledgable patient and kind. He is the kind of Dr. who, after 3 years, continues to look for solutions and ways to improve my care and quality of life. When I showed up in his office in Dec 2012 I was 29 and in such great pain I could barely function. I feared I would end up on disability eventually. I had already seen 3 others doctors with lil to no improvement. It turns out I have a rare pain condition and Dr. Willens diagnosed me properly. When you know what your up against you can fight fair with the right treatment plan. It took time and was a team effort but my pain score on a daily basis is dramatically lower, I function great, and am enjoying life again. Disability is not sight. Dr. Willens and staff are very knowledgeable in the field of pain relief. It is true that you must be your own advocate when it comes to health care. Ask questions! When I asked Dr. Willens questions, he gave me direct and informative answers. This is the first time I felt that I was getting the best health care available, the first time I was treated like I was more than a number or a office payment (thank you Jennifer for all your kindness). Dr. Willens even has a physical therapist on site (Stephanie) and she informed me immediately that she was going to work "with me" so I could be successful in the management of my medical goals! Dr. Willens and his staff have brought me from thinking of disability to being able to continue working, his demeanor along with his skills make every appointment very relaxing. He also has a great physical therapist who is very knowledgeable and also every bit the professional that Dr. Willens is. My husband is a patient of Dr Willens. When he first started going to him, he had so much back pain that he had to be taken into the office in a wheel chair. He had even stopped driving. Now he only uses a cane when he is outdoors for balance and has been living a normal life style. Great experience. Very professional. Took a lot of time with me and answered all my questions. Was referred by my neurosurgeon after the surgery didn't work to dr willens. Glad I did. I'm much better and starting physical therapy soon

I wanted to thank Dr. Willens for helping me. I had really bad back and neck pain after a car accident in January. I got sent to him from my doctor when I wasn't getting better. I am really glad I did because I am a lot better. He explained everything to me so that I could understand and showed me the MRI and what he was going to do help. The procedures helped a lot and now I am doing physical therapy getting stronger and in a lot less pain. As a Navy Hospital Corpsman I had the opportunity to work with and observe literally hundreds of physicians and their staffs. Some were exceptionally good and others... well... not so much. I have come to expect the physicians and his/her staffs that I choose to patronize to be competent, compassionate, professional, and to respect my time as much as I respect theirs. I have found all that and much more with Dr. Willens and the staff at Advanced Pain Management Clinic. Dr. Willens makes certain I understand the what, why, and how of what he is recommending at every step of the way. He uses visual aids to make complex medical subjects understandable for his patients. I selected Advanced Pain Management Clinic for several reasons. It turned out to be an excellent choice.
