I want to rate no stars but there was no option. This so called doctor is horrible. He is rude, obnoxious, dismissive, a disgusting person. He needs to return to medical school. His diagnosis was way wrong and his treatment was to put a glove on it. His PA sucked too. Hit the books “doctor.” I don’t recommend him to anyone. Don’t waste your time. Go to a real doctor. Couldn't figure out the problem with my wrist so he just sent me to Physical Therapy for a long time. I was misdiagnosed and he didn't treat me with the most care. I will only give him two stars though instead of one because his skills as a surgeon are impressive. Deceptive insurance practices. I called to make an appt. to see the doctor. I needed hand surgery. I told Kelly what health insurance coverage I a had. They made an appt. for me. Then it was time to schedule the surgery. The office knew what insurance I had (Atena). After the surgery, I find out that Dr. Hochwald did not accept my health insurance. He was out of network. It is the OFFICE responsibility to inform a patient when he calls to make an appt., to inform the patient that the doctor DOES or DOESN'T accept the patient's health insurance. I went back and forth over a bill with this woman in the office that spun me into the ground. She acted like I was the first patient to bring this HUGE issue up !!! SHAME ON YOU DOCTOR !!!

Great experience. Dr. Hochwald is a very knowledgeable surgeon, extremely professional and empathetic. I had two fractures in my wrist and my thumb and he completed surgery within 24 hours of my accident and was very successful. His staff is super friendly and nice. Overall experience here was great. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. Definitely recommend him and his staff. Great experience. Very professional office, accommodating staff for appointments. No wait time in waiting room. Dr Hochwald is very knowledgeable professional and pleasant

Called his office for an appointment and they told me he could see me right away. Was seen within minutes of arrival, diagnosed my condition through x-ray as well as set up the procedure for 2 days later all within an hour of just calling to see if he had availability for me to be seen. Most pleasant experience I’ve had at any doctors office never mind an orthopedic surgeon. Did not waste any time getting right to the source of my problem. Dr. Hockwald is amazing. He performed surgery on my hand and it was better instantly. I was in so much pain, he took me right away and all testing and surgery was done within a week’s time. I can’t believe people would give a negative review because of waiting 40 minutes without knowing the circumstances. I’m sure he wasn’t sitting in the office doing nothing cuz he felt like making you wait. However, I bet they waited to be seated at a restaurant and said how great it was, either that or they feel entitled. Good things come to those who wait, better things come to those who are patient. Dr Hockwald is an excellent surgeon. He saved my hand after a fall on glass and severed an artery and tendons. Larry in PT helped me gain feeling and strength back. All of the office staff were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Dr Hockwald and his team.

He is one of the worse doctors I have seen since my car accident. I was referred to him from my attorney. I went into his office after waiting a half hour for him, he only spent 10 minutes with me. He told me there was nothing wrong with my hand, after having a diagnosis of carpel tunnel and he saw the MRI showed there was a tear in my wrist. I took off my brace to show him the discoloration around my wrist and that my left hand had tingling, numbness and a tint color of blue and grey. You know what he told me ? He told me nothing was wrong and to leave off my brace & to come back to him within 2 months if I’m still having pain. WELL, I went to Dr. Durant who was my orthopedist since the accident happened. I told him everything and he had already diagnosed me with tendinitis. I was in so much pain for 4 months and he decided to do surgery. I’m 4 days post op and I’m still having minimal pain at the incision site, but the pain I was having before surgery is not as bad as it is after surgery. DO NOT GO TO DOCTOR NEAL, he doesn’t know what he is doing ! Horrible doctor. Since this accident I’ve since multiple doctors in all different fields. HE IS THE ONLY ONE IVE ENCOUNTERED WITH HORRIBLE BED SIDE MANNERS AND LACK OF KNOWLEDGE! Save your time, go see Dr. Christopher Durant ! When I saw Dr hochwald in the ER, I really liked him. Unfortunately when i went for my follow up appointment I waited over 40 minutes to be seen. I decided to leave as I had another appointment. I don't like how they told me that I would be seen next after waiting 20 minutes. Then was told at the 30 Minute mark that I was next, but someone else was seen, who had arrived after me. This office has to become more organized. Be prepared to wait, and if you think its worth a 40 minute or more wait, than go ahead. Very Disappointing. and a waist of my time. Dr. Hochwald treated me after I nearly severed part of my finger. I can't say enough nice things about my experience. He did a beautiful precise repair and was incredibly kind and gentle. I am so grateful to him and would highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Hochwald saved my dying hand and fingers. He was the doctor on call at Huntington hospital’s ER when I was rushed in with three damaged fingers on my left hand. My nerves and tendons were entirely severed. He was immediately knowledgable and comforting. He worked to keep me calm during the extremely stressful situation. During the first surgery, he took the extra time to save as much of my hand as possible. He has done two more follow-up surgeries since the accident in July 2016 and has kept a close eye on my hand ever since. Every visit he has given me more hope and worked patiently with me through the last three years to make my hand come back to life as much as possible. I am truly lucky and blessed to have gotten him as my surgeon the day of the accident. He saved my hand and in turn gave me a chance to have a normal life again. I owe him a ton of gratitude. When I lost my job due to the accident, he was very understanding and cared for the hardships I was facing. He is truly a wonderful surgeon and I recommend him and his expertise a 110%. I HAD to see Dr Hochwald for an IME for Workers Comp. I will NEVER recommend this doctor to anyone. Not even to remove a splinter . He is rude and condescending . He wrote the most disturbing things and lied on his report . His unprofessionalism is astonishing. When asked about my pain , he laughed and rolled his eyes at me . Thankfully my fiancé was a front row witness and will be a witness for me as I take this case further . As a nurse , it is painfully obvious his lack of empathy .

Recently, I have used the L.I. Hand Center for a badly broken arm at the top of the humerus. Dr. Hochwald advised me to use a sling for 5 weeks. After that I started months of p.t. with the office physical therapists. The arm healed beautifully under the careful, watchful eye of Dr. Hochwald. My range of motion was excellent. Next was a successful carpal tunnel release surgery. Dr. Hochwald has always been supportive, compassionate and helpful in his dealings with me. Highly recommended.

Dr Hochwald is one of the most genuine, warm, compassionate and skillful surgeons I've had in my life. I've experienced at least five different surgeries over the past twenty years. However, the high level of treatment and care that I received from Dr Hochwald and his staff were exceptional! He is truly an outstanding human being and surgeon. I'd recommend him to my closest family and friends... which, by the way, I have. All of whom have expressed similar wonderful experiences.

I was his patient for over a month, i had gotten hurt at work so i was a workers comp case. he treated me like i was faking my injury and would hurt me every time i was in his office. he told me multiple times it was just a bruise and a sprain, but my finger stayed swollen the entire time i was his patient. he never sent me for an MRI or any testing other then x-rays in his office. and then proceeded to tell me i could return to work full duty when i can’t even bend my thumb. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and saw another dr who sent me for an MRI my first visit. turns out my ligaments are torn, so not only did i get treated like garbage, i also got misdiagnosed. i would never recommend anyone to go to him, he doesn’t care about you if he’s not getting paid enough, and that’s very wrong in my opinion. every patient should be treated the same no matter how much money he’s making off of them. Was amazing in the hospital, but in the office he was rude and not compassionate at all with my 7 year old. I truly believe this is a money issue, my children are on United Healthcare Community Plan (which we pay full price for) and his office made it a point to let me know he does not get paid a lot from them. He has to continue post care for 45 days, even though he doesn't accept my insurance, because he saw my son in the emergency room. I am convinced that we were treated poorly and spoken down to in hopes that we would find another doctor to follow up with. Sad world we live in! As small business owners we have to pay a small mortgage every month just for health insurance and then are treated like trash because if it! THE WORST!!! EVER!! If you care about your health and looking to get good treatment RUN!! a simple google search will yield you a better course of treatment then seeing DR Hochwald . pathetic really 3 visits this guy his story changes every time doesn't even remember what he said to me or hes a liar. Hows this guy have his name outside on a sign with 2 other Drs? I wouldn't put his name next mine if it was my business. Went to a real DR who confirmed for me i was not being treated properly .

I did not choose this doctor. I broke my wrist and he was assigned to me in the ER. When the cast came off he said nothing about rehab exercises. Told me to apply heat to a badly swollen wrist. It remained swollen and painful. Second opinion doc was shocked at that. Said to ICE it and gave me rehab exercises. Failed to provide me with common sense aftercare. Terrible.

Dr Hochwald is a wonderful hand and shoulder specialist .His bedside manners are amazing. He really cares about his patients well being and painless recovery. The entire Staff is wonderful his front desk is friendly helpful accommodating and get all your paperwork done ASAP . If you need a appointment even last minute they will try every way possible to fit you in and help you with your injury . Thank you Dr Hochwald you a rare find. His facility is super clean sterile they way it should be.
