He is not a good Doctor. He is rude and got a rude awaking when my Sister-in-law tore into him for not doing the proper protocol. If you get him in E.R. just ask for a Doctor that really cares. He is not the one

I have, unfortunately had several bad experiences at Porter Regional whenever my Grandmother has to be admitted. I have, on multiple occasions had to report MDs and RNs for improper protocol or lack of attention to some MAJOR health factors. But today, when my sweet Grandma had to be taken by ambulance to the ER, we were Blessed enough to have the amazing Dr. Shaffer! He explained everything and addressed all of our concerns, including calling both her Dialysis Center, speaking to the Nephrologist and calling her Cardiologist (not just sending her home with Instructions to follow up!) He got her in and out in a timely manner and I couldn't be more grateful to you Dr. Shaffer and to the RNs who drew blood from her IV vs stabbing her and bruising her up any more then she already is... I have, on multiple occasions had to report MDs and RNs for improper protocol or lack of attention to some MAJOR health factors. Best doctor ever

In the e/r for chest discomfort. Dr. Shaffer listened to symptoms and asked questions. He was empathetic, understanding and knowledgeable.

I had been battling extreme pain in my side and my family doctor was unable to diagnose my problem. As I had a major pain attack, I found myself in the er and was blessed to have Dr. Shaffer in charge of my care. He did the appropriate tests and blood work and found the source of my problem. I had surgery a week later and I've never been more grateful!

Dr. Shaffer was fast and efficient. He took the time to explain the procedures he was performing.

Dr. Schaffer recognized that the bite on my hand was dangerous and got me treatment right away which saved my hand.
