Dr. Nelson W Lum

I went to Dr. Lum for a second opinion about a diagnosis for a rare disease. When I went to my appointment, Dr. Lum was very honest about never diagnosing my condition before and only having seen one case of it in his career. He told me he could continue to monitor my symptoms or I could try to go to a research hospital to see a specialist. I really appreciated his candor and I told him I wanted to go to a research hospital. Since then, he and his office have run updated tests to send to the hospital and have helped me get referrals for out-of-network care. Overall, he and his office have been patient, kind, and thorough.

I WENT TO HIM FOR TWO YEARS AND ALL I EVER HEARD COME OUT OF HIS MOUTH IS "I DON'T KNOW"

The rudeness and unhelpfulness of office staff is unlike anything I have ever experienced. They clearly don't care about patients and have no understanding of Type 1 diabetes. Do not trust this practice with your health.

My encounter with Dr. Lum was the worst experience I've ever had with a physician. He never looked at me during our appointment, and he dismissed my questions and concerns. After ordering a thyroid biopsy and indicating that the results were troubling, he was going to make me wait for a month to discuss the results and future treatment. When I finally insisted on learning the results, he dropped me as a patient by sending a cryptic letter that I needed medical follow-up as soon as possible.
