I am quite appalled at the treatment my mother received at the Aurora Urgent Care. My mother had a migraine for 7 days and after attempting home treatment with a prescription (non-narcotic) mediation to no avail she asked me to drive her in as her headache was too severe for her to drive. We made it to the Urgent Care where the nurse came out and asked my mother in the lobby, not in an exam room, what her symptoms were and why she was there, which, to my cursory understanding of HIPPA, would constitute a violation. After my mother explained the weeklong suffering and desire to be assessed by a physician, the nurse informed her, "We don't have any drugs here for you." Recall that my mother did not ask for drugs, she asked to see the physician. The nurse went back and told the doctor who knows what, and returned repeating that "there are no drugs here for you. The ER is a better place for you." I asked if perhaps my mother could speak with the physician herself, seeing as she wanted to be assessed by a doctor and not treated like a narcotics-seeker. The nurse said, "I am just trying to save you time because there is nothing we can do for you here." Thank god my mother wasn't having a stroke or a brain bleed, though we wouldn't have known if she were since we were turned away for lack of drugs that she never asked for without ever having been seen by the doctor. For the record, my mother does not take narcotic drugs, prescription or otherwise, and simple hoped that she could be prescribed something for migraine relief. I have gotten better care at inner-city Brooklyn hospitals than what was provided here. Avoid if you can. I am quite appalled at the treatment my mother received at the Aurora Urgent Care.
