We just had our final check up with Dr. Kelley. He provided a reconstructive surgery on our son’s skull when he was just 10 months old. He is a fantastic surgeon and his bedside manner is fantastic. We have seen him every couple of years since then and today was our last scheduled regular checkup. Honestly, we’ll kind of miss seeing him every couple of years, but we hope we have no reason to return. When our son was just 10 months old we handed over our little buddy to him and waited all day to find out how it went. It was one of the scariest days of our lives but he was in great hands. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Kelley and his team for their work to allow our sons brain to grow and develop normally.

If it was just Dr. Kelley and his assistant Kati, I would rate a 5 stars. The organization itself is lacking quality admin and patient coordination with primary care physicians in obtaining referral and authorization docs. They expect the patient to handle it all and will cancel your appointment in a heartbeat if they can't find what they are needing even if its been done. I’m actually pretty frustrated about my experience. My infant has a small cyst. I was referred to Dr. Kelly from a dermatologist who recommended getting it removed sooner than later because the after care is much easier when they are less than a year old. We decided that when my child was around 6m+ we would look at surgical options with dr. Kelly. I get a call stating that we need to schedule an appointment and I brought up to the receptionist that I didn’t plan on doing anything for at least several months and asked if they still needed us to come in before then. They said yes and we planned the appointment for 2-3 weeks after that call. Before doing so I even asked if a virtual appointment was an option as I knew we were in no rush, but this was not an option according to the receptionist. I drove 45 minutes in a pandemic with my infant to this appointment because I am doing what is medically advised for us at this point. When I get there, the staff was very kind, but I also had to talk to 3 nurses who asked the same triage questions each time. so I had to repeat myself over and over. By the time Dr. Kelly came in he touched my child’s cyst and told me that it’s too small to be a cyst but not abnormal enough to be considered cancerous. So now I’m completely confused about what it even is. I was under the assumption I was coming to him for a surgical treatment not a diagnosis.. He then recommended we wait 6 months before making any decisions on removing it. Basically not giving me any new information. The time I had with him was legitimately 3 minutes. I didn’t even sit down. He didn’t even ask my name. I don’t want to make it sound like I’m hating on him as a doctor, I’m sure he does wonderful things for patients and has likely saved many lives. But this appointment cost me time and money in the middle of a pandemic. The whole appointment was embarrassing and i felt like an idiot for being there taking care of my son when I’m sure he has more serious patients. I’m not exactly sure where the problem started, if it was my dermatologist for sending in the referral too early, the receptionist for booking the appointment, or the appointment itself. But, if anyone who is a part of this office is reading this, please consider people’s time and money. I spent 3 minutes with him and it’s likely going to cost me hundred of dollars and we haven’t made any progress on getting this cyst (or now we don’t know what it is??) off of my child. By far the most skilled and reassuring surgeon I have had, especially when dealing with multiple cranial surgeries and the issues surrounding them. He is honest and straightforward with his plan, and does not entertain the idea of any unfeasible outcomes. You have a realistic picture of what can be done and what to expect. I am lucky to have had him operate on me, and could not have asked for a more satisfying outcome.

Dr Kelley performed surgery on me in October 2018 to remove metal wiring from my jaw. He assured me it would be a simple procedure, one that he has done hundreds of times. A month after the surgery, a cyst started forming on the right side of my jaw. He advised me to get a CT scan and other tests done, just to tell me he had no idea what it was and that he would need to re-operate. It turned out that he had not properly cleaned out the wound, and had left bone fragments from the previous surgery. Now, 5 months later, the scar has opened up again and is infected! When I called Dr. Kelley to schedule an emergency appointment due to the high fevers that the infection was causing me, he just referred me out. No one deserves to go through the unnecessary pain and amount of money spent that this man caused, not to mention the unnecessary scar left on my face and deformed jaw bone, or to be treated so condescendingly and dismissively. Dr. Kelley and team were so AMAZING!!! It took a little while to get in for our first appointment but it was well worth the wait. He is very professional & personable and put my family’s mind at ease. My daughter had a cyst removed from the outer edge of her eye and there is barely a scar. In order to be honest I have to say that dr Kelley,md clearly was not knowledgeable of the procedure called an “IVRO” which he performed on me on may 23, 2017. I had done extensive research into the vertical cut of the jaw bone which will allow the jaw to go back into its original alignment. Dr Kelley assured me with great confidence that this procedure was one that he could successfully perform. During the surgery he cut an artery which bled into my lungs resulting in pneumonia. The pneumonia prevented Dr Kelley from adequately wiring closed my mouth. Therefore the procedure was a complete and dangerous failure. After having a CT 3D image from the San Antonio dental school two months later of the actual sawing direction , it was very clear that Dr Kelley’s cut of my jaw bone was not vertical as it should have been . Therefore I have half the ability to open my mouth and twice the daily unbearable pain. I have had three oral maxillofacial surgeons who have told me to have the procedure redone correctly...since dr Kelley works in a teaching hospital , he is not liable for any mistakes and may have student who have little knowledge of the procedure. I would not recommend him for any surgical procedure. He probably needs to stay in pediatrics . Incredible post-op results of a major cranial surgery. There was a warming level of comfort meeting and working with Dr. Kelley. The only hesitation that emerged was immediately following the surgery since I form keloids (raised scars), and for the first time in my life I did not form a keloid. This is especially important because the scarring is on my face. Dr. Kelley is precise and careful — feel comfortable and confident knowing that you are in gentle hands. After searching for a surgeon with many dead ends; Dr. Kelley, Dr. George and their team were willing to help. They carefully planned every detail over several months and came up with a plan that was successful! After a bicycle crash where I did a serious face plant and broke several bones around my eye and cheek bone, I searched for the best Facial Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon in town. Dr. Kelley's name came up. I was glad I went to him. He explained everything he was going to do, answered my numerous questions and put me at ease. He was professional and calming before and after the surgery with a little bit of wit (he has a great sense of humor). I am very pleased with the results.

We visited Dr. Kelley (based on a favorable referral from our pediatrician) and had an extremely easy and enjoyable experience. We would definitely refer him and his great team to anyone!

We LOVE Dr. Kelley! He's great with our son, very realistic and down to earth, and he exceeded expectations in fixing our son's unilateral cleft lip and palate. Because he was almost two years old at the time of surgery and had just come home from an international adoption and a neglect situation, we expected many more procedures than we've had to get to his current state. The repair was so outstanding that he doesn't have any speech difficulties and was removed from speech therapy at age 5!

Dr. Kelley, his colleagues and staff were amazing. A "cranial vault remodel" is a very scary term for any parent to hear! However, after meeting with Dr Kelley, I felt comfortable (as comfortable as any mother could) handing him off for skull surgery at 8 months old. We just had our second annual checkup today and thankfully everything looks great! I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kelley.

Dr Kelly and team have been awesome. Very good care. Staff were great on follow ups and check in during hospital stay. Post hospital made sure I had a plan to recover and manage off pain medications. Back to running, biking and the gym.
