Doctor Kwong was very good to us and very knowledgeable. The staff was very helpful and kind.

Took my son to rule out a major skin problem. When I asked this so-called doctor for natural remedies that even a pediatrician can recommend, she sarcastically replied that if I wanted natural I should have gone to see another type of doctor, not her. However when she gave me the prescription it was for a pharmacy called Hill Derm, a privately own pharmacy (family member or family business, who knows) which does not accept insurance of any kind, only cash. Questionable and suspicious medical practice right there, also the energy of this place is something else, hostile environment maybe I don't know. Believed the 1 star reviews.She might be a great " Doctor" to others, but for me she is a money making machine and nothing else.Bedside manners and professionalism are lacking here to say the very least, even my 9 years old son said she roasted me and that she does not deserved to be a doctor. I will never return.

Dr. Kwong excised a granuloma from my 10 months old face, right under her eye. She was confident in her abilities and very gentle while working in this sensitive area. The appointment was quick and efficient.

Dr Kwong is oustanding. My son has had eczema since he was born and it took us 4 months to actually find her and we were able to see the results immediately. I cannot describe what a relief it was as we went through a lot. Unfortunately, her front desk staff is the rudest you can imagine. Not professional at all and always with an attitude. Dr Kwong is very knowledgeable but her staff is very unprofessional and rude. When I asked a question about my deductible this big rude white lady got an attitude got an attitude. I nicely said if you do not want to do your job go home because I don’t have time for attitudes when it’s my money. Dr. Kwong is amazing, can’t believe she doesn’t have a 5 star rating. Do not allow these negative reviews to impact your selection, I’m extremely selective and have an infant with skin problems, so I almost let the bad reviews bias me, so glad I didn’t!!!

Unprofessional and rude office staff. Sheryl and Laura I believe at the front desk. Please avoid this place!!!! I came there with my 8months old baby and was told that time of my appointment was two hours ago and that I would have to wait for 1 hour at least for my baby to be seen. I asked if I could leave and come back and they let me know that if I do that they still can’t guarantee how long I ll be waiting when I come back. I made this appointment 4 weeks ago and was very excited to see this doctor. It is a shame that this doctor has such a hostile staff at the front desk. I will be seeking a different place. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Kwong to anyone with a child. When my son was 12 he developed a small red bump on his face. An adult dermatologist at the Beach suggested we just watch it. I was not comfortable with that and immediately scheduled with Dr. Kwong. It turned out to be a malignant tumor. He needed a 4-hour surgery at Nemours. Although he is now in remission...he still sees Dr. Kwong at 22 years old. She knows her stuff and does a thorough all over body check. She is kind, professional and courteous. The office staff is rude and unprofessional. I’ve asked to speak to an office manager or someone in charge of billing three different times on different days and he’s always “out of town”. Dr. Kwong appears to know what she is talking about and I’ve been assured by other dermatologists in the area she is a good doctor. But I was disappointed they made me fill a prescription with an online pharmacy that doesn’t accept insurance instead of trying Publix or cvs first. My kids allergist ironically prescribed the same medication a week later and only then did I find out that it can be filled at a normal pharmacy for $15 w insurance vs the $40 I paid. Again. Office staff rude when I called to address the mix up. I hate that this is the only option for pediatric derm in the area.

We visit Dr Kwong since couple of years as my Daughter has skin rashes issues. Doctor Kwong is really knowledgeable in her expertise and answers promptly our concerns when we visit her. BUT major gap is the communication after visit. There is no way you can hold off to doctor on call or mail or message. No process setup for after visit !! Only call to front desk. NOW for front desk response is your luck !! The ladies at front behavior was not appropriate to us as we are Asian !! I felt discriminated as received rude , cold expression to my questions and then seconds later welcoming behavior to other visitors to the office. Off course they were not Asian patients !! 5 Stars to Doctor but 1 to front office staff. I will continue visiting doctor as I respect her experience and had no issue with the service she provides.

The doctor knows her stuff. But the front office, billing, and overall experience was terrible.

Dr. Kwong is a very knowledgeable doctor, however like other reviews have stated- her office staff are rude, hostile, and unprofessional. I did leave a card on file for the bill which is a requirement to be seen. My card was charged roughly two weeks after the appointment date with ONE phone call/voicemail prior to running it. The receptionist claims to have called and left three voicemails. One of which I got. Come on. It’s 2021 and I have a cell phone with no messages and no missed calls. They don’t mail out any paper bills. Don’t we have 30 days to pay usually? I worked in a doctors office through out college and this is not typical of how offices are ran. I have a bad feeling about what is going on in this office. The other thing that rubbed me the wrong way was Dr. Kwong prescribed a body oil for my daughter and sent it to an online pharmacy that mails it to your house called Hill Derm that does not accept insurance. They called and billed me $40 for the oil. Later that week we saw my daughters allergist who prescribed the same exact oil that was filled at Publix for $15. I will be reporting this to the FL Dept of Health/medicine. I did call to ask what happened and why it wasn’t filled at the pharmacy I listed on my paperwork and Kwong apologized and the pharmacy did give a refund. But the interaction with the pharmacy was not pleasant either. Overall- it’s unfortunate Kwong is the only pediatric dermatologist in Jax that sees infants/toddlers. And it’s unfortunate her office is run so poorly. We will not be going back. I’d rather drive to Orlando or Gainesville until my kids are old enough to be seen at Nemours. Such a skilled and experienced doctor. Dr. Chu does not have the fanciest office, nor the best Google reviews most likely due to non-medical related issues with office staff. The doctor was nice, but there is no answering service and messages go unreturned. I feel sorry for this doctor, that seemed very knowledgeable, but apparently is understaffed or the staff is just ignoring the needs of the patients. We loved Dr. Kwong Pearl Chu, but we could only go one time. When I attempted to make another appointment, no one answered my calls during office hours. My son's rash went undiagnosed for 6 weeks before seeing Dr. Kwong. We had been to several pediatrician and specialist appointments, given him steroids and antibiotics that he didn't need, had his blood drawn and allergies tested....I was beginning to feel helplesa. Dr. Kwong knew right away what was going on. AND they got us an appointment within days when other dermatologists were a 6 week wait. My son is still in treatment but we've already seen major improvement just by being diagnosed and prescribed appropriately. Dr. Kwong was good, but her office help was useless. I needed an updated prescription, but they would never return my calls. I can't use a doctor I can't get in contact with, so I am looking for another doctor.

After visiting with Dr.Kwong office, my son was treated there once. Due to me wanting a second opinion, I requested medical information be sent to another office for review as well. I was never contacted to ask if I would be cancelling my care with Dr.Kwong. It seems as if you can not request a second opinion without having being penalized first. The secretary contacted me back stating the appointment would need to be cancelled because he was seen elsewhere, and this was requested by the MD. I have never met any MD that would penalize a patient because they wanted a second opinion. I would never recommend this office. I’m addition to this, it took a month to even get started on treatment for my son because her nor her medical staff ever contacted me to give me the result of my son specimen. Amazing! My 10 yr old had warts on his knees arms and hands and Dr Kwong was so efficient at getting rid of them! Her staff made him feel as comfortable as possible and got rid of them for good! I have tried numerous dermatologist before her and none did the trick. I felt safe and healthy with Covid and will definitely go back if need be for any future situations! Amazing! After visiting with Dr.Kwong office, my son was treated there once. Due to me wanting a second opinion, I requested medical information be sent to another office for review as well. I was never contacted to ask if I would be cancelling my care with Dr.Kwong. I actually called to schedule his follow up visit as discussed. The secretary then contacted me back within five minutes of scheduling the appointment (after saying the MD was out of town, so she could not accept my call), stating the appointment would need to be cancelled because he was seen elsewhere, and this cancellation was requested by the MD. I have never met any MD that would dismiss a patient and refuse to have them scheduled, because they wanted a second opinion. It seems as if you can not request a second opinion without having being penalized. I would never recommend this office.

Staff is rude. Pearl is nice but didn’t treat my child according to modern research protocols.

The office was requiring that I fill out a payment form to include either my credit card information with CVV code or Debit card information for potential fees uncovered by insurance. I have never been asked to leave this information on paper prior to services being rendered nor do I want my credit card/debit card information in a paper record form. Dr. Pearl is an angel! She is so funny and always helpful!! She was the only dermatologist that helped me with what I wanted! There’s one girl at the front desk that is really rude, in person and through the phone! But the others are so loving and caring!

Dr. Kwong was the ONLY ONE who diagnosed my son properly. She saw his skin condition and immediately knew what he needed. Luckily she prescribed him some medicine and ointment that fixed him right up. Other places, even Nemours, could not properly diagnose my son and it was a complete waste of time and money. Been seeing Dr. Kwong for about a year and a half for my daughter's skin. We had a severe situation and previously tried several doctors + medicines (all costly!). She has been the only one who has offered solutions with almost miraculous results. We follow her guidance closely and are happier than we ever thought we could be. If she says jump, I say how high?! Her office staff has always been helpful in booking appointments for us. When needed, they are always prepared with details about my insurance + deductibles / HSA balance and costs. Upon getting to the office, we sign in and are readily seen. Over time, we have built great rapport. What else could I ask of them? We always leave happy and I am grateful beyond words for Dr. Kwong. As a patient/client it is key to try to work with people and give an honest opinion, no matter what you would like to see changed. I am appalled by some of the reviews I see. My son has had skin irritation and inflammation for months. I went to numerous doctors and specialist and no one... I mean no one helped him. They all gave him bandaid solutions. Dr. Kwong took her time to analyze his skin, explain what was happening to me and prescribe medicine and ointment that had my baby happy in just 10 days and every day since. She is truly a blessing to me and my family! She’s amazing! Also, I've had to make no less than 6 phone calls this week to get my son's prescription filled. They sent it to one pharmacy, that when I called said they never got it. Called back to Dr.'s office and now they sent it to a new pharmacy. Called them and they didn't have it. Forget it, I'll just come pick up the dang prescription. Wait on line for 20 minutes at CVS and they can't fill it b/c they don't have the iPledge number on the prescription. Call back to other Pharmacy and they tell me the same. Doctor Kwong is a wonderful doctor but one person on her staff has NO customer service skills and needs to be let go before she causes more damage to Doctor Kwong’s practice. I will be writing and mailing a formal letter to the doctor to insure she understands how awful one of her staff members is treating her clients. I just called there moments ago to reschedule an appointment for my daughter that we unfortunately missed. I was charged $35 for missing the appointment which I am ok with and more then willing to pay. I never argued or complained about the charge. We had a family emergency that was unavoidable and missed our appointment. But up to this point I have only missed this one appointment in the past 2 to 3 years since I have been going to Doctor Kwong. Also, No money is owed and all bills have been paid on time and at time of service. Again, I am not complaining about the fee for missing my last appointment. It is common practice these days in many doctors offices to charge a fee if an appointment is not kept and I am OK with that. But when I call to reschedule an appointment and the Secratery tells me that I Always Miss ALL of my appointments and that she would not give me an appointment at the times I requested because again she states I Always Miss All of my appointments. That is Not acceptable! I am Not OK with Rude Outspoken Harassing Liars. So I called her out on her statement and her response was to hang up on me. I called back to the doctors office three more times and was hung up on before saying a word. It is a shame that one of her staff members is tarnishing Doctor Kwong’s good reputation in the Jacksonville community. I will share this with all my friends that are doctors and that perhaps know Dr Kwong personally so she knows that one of her Secratery’s is poisoning her practice. No client at any doctors office deserves to be treated like this for missing one appointment. And further more I would never treat another human being like this in the first place. I have seen Dr. Kwong a couple of times as well as my husband and son. Dr. Kwong is very knowledgeable and professional and am always met by friendly staff. Thank you for such great service.

After reading several reviews I was worried about dealing with the office staff. I made an appointment anyways and glad I did. The staff was warm, friendly and went above what I had expected after seeing what people had said. I am glad I did not judge a book by its cover on this one.

So after reading all the comments. I was very sceptical about bringing my daughter to see Dr. Kwong. But after going and seeing/meeting her and her staff. I am convinced that all these comments regarding her front desk girl is solely because she is black and is very direct when she speaks. We saw Dr. Kwong a couple weeks back. Here is an outline of my visit. I walked in with my daughter. Front desk girl says good morning who are we checking in? I told her who. She gives me the paperwork and told me to fill it out and to bring it back when I was done with my ID and my insurance card. Now as I am filling out my paperwork I over hear a gentleman asking about the credit card worksheet to the front desk girl. As she is explaining it to him and the reason why they need it. He gets all huffy puffy and says he's not filling it out. She tells him ok just write refused across the top of it. Then she tells him that without a credit card he will be responsible for the procedures if there are any. Now she's being called rude and he wants to speak to the office manager. I'm sitting here confused because I can't understand why he is mad. The paperwork itself states this and I personally would rather leave my credit card on file than to pay hundreds of dollars that I don't have to pay right then. But hey that's me. I have black friends and asked them to tell me if maybe I am reaching a little too much by assuming people are just being judgemental to the front desk girl because of her race. And they all told me that believe it or not they face this on a daily basis. Now after having an encounter with the girl and I reread these comments I can see right through to what the comments are really about. You people are just really entitled little racists individuals with no soul. She is doing her job and from my point of view is doing it well. My husband and I brought our son in to see Dr. Kwong and she was very sweet to our boy. Her staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. I see alot of bad reviews regarding her staff. But I witness first hand the attitudes some of you possess when you walk in the door. And of course they should have a no show policy. When you don't bring your child in when you're suppose to then you are being selfish to others who really needed to be seen but can't because you wasted an appointment. All of you people with bad reviews need to examine yourselves. Ask your self how you would feel if you had to deal with people like you day in and day out. Dr. Kwong and staff are very nice. We have gone here for my youngest for his port wine stain birthmark and my oldest son for his wart and mole removal. Every time we have visited their office we have never had a problem. She is a great doctor and she works fast. My oldest son freaked out and was crying because he didn't want to get cut or get a shot for both the wart and mole removal. She worked so fast but very gentle that it was already done before my son even realized the procedure was over. I liked that she was able to reassure him that everything was gonna be ok and it wasn't gonna hurt. Dr. Kwong and staff are very nice. Hands down the most knowledgeable dermatologist you can find. She takes her time and is truly concerned about her patients. There is a reason that all of the medical residence in the area come to train under her! They are a busy office but you will always get top notch treatment. Her staff is great and while some say they are rude they are far from it! They are just very efficient and to the point.

I took my son to a rutine skin he needs and mentioned a couple of warts he had. The doctor said that the only thing that could have been done was surgery! Really? She didn’t even tried any other conservative methods first all she wanted was to cut my son’s foot in order for her to make money! I felt something was not right and took him to his pediatrician and she immediately did the freezing method ( cryotherapy) and advise to treat it at home as well and the warts started to dry out almost immediately! I went to this dermatologist many years ago & unfortunately my experience was so horrible that it still haunts me to this day. I went in with an acne problem & before I knew what was happening this doctor was unbuttoning my shorts to see if I had any hair growth down there. The staff was fine.. but Dr. Kwong has the bedside manner of shrew. My poor baby was diagnosed with scabies, and Dr. Kwong prescribed a topical ointment for her. I asked her if she would prescribe this ointment for the rest of the members of the household, as we would all need treated. She told me, I had to make an individual appointment for everyone and she would prescribe them individually. Talk about a blatant, heartless, callous attempt to gouge a family of more money. When I went to the second dermatologist, the first thing she asked was if I needed additional prescriptions for the ointment.. without even being prompted. Our experience was excellent. Friendly staff and the doctor was very professional and nice.

Our daugher is 2 years old now and we have been to Dr. Kwong maybe 4 times so far for a variety of skin issues / rashes / bumps. Dr. Kwong made the correct diagnosis everytime and whatever the problem was that led us to see Dr. Kwong was gone promptly after following her directions. We will continue to use her for Victoria.

One of the best dermatologist you could ask for, she is beyond amazing! She was able to figure out what was going on with our son when others had no clue. I know some people do like her staff but we absolutely love them!

6 month later. My son had a serious case of cradle cap and Eczema to the point is eyes was swollen. Unlike my Pediatrician who recommended organic remedies with worst results. Dr kwong has taken care of my son since he was 2 weeks old. She has always been very accommodating and attentive. As a father, my primary job is to protect and provide for my daughter. My daughter has experienced diminished self-esteem due to a skin condition and Dr. Kwong figured out the cause and cure. A popular chain pharmacy we must use because our insurance commands it told me the cost of the two medicines would cost almost $2000. Yes, almost $2000, per month. I am unable to pay that sum to help my child regain her sense of normalcy and self-esteem. We called the office staff, and they worked relentlessly until they found another pharmacy who could fill both prescriptions for under $100 per month. The medicine will arrive tomorrow morning via fed ex. We are very thankful and fortunate that the medical team at this specialty office cared so much about my daughter’s health and my inability to pay that they researched and discovered an affordable alternative to purchasing the needed medicines at a price I can afford. I have four children (my oldest being 15) and I have used Dr. Kwong for our pediatric dermatology all along. She and her staff have always been extremely professional and efficient. Dr. Kwong has always been effective, patient, and nurturing with me and my children. I will continue to use her as our ped derm doctor as long as she is in practice. I so appreciate this office! My daughter is a 7th grader taking high school courses, so she really can’t miss school. The staff went all out to accommodate our daughter. Truly, we were so impressed with the front office scheduler, we brought her flowers. Dr. Pearl was very knowledgeable and personable; she explained to us in detail my daughter’s new regimen and medications (as what my daughter’s pediatrician prescribed hasn’t been working well enough). I don't know how anyone can say anything bad about Dr. Kwong or her staff. They are awesome!!!!!! My younger daughter adores the front desk girl and her eyeshadow. She always makes my daughter's day when we visit the office. The staff go above and beyond to accommodate all of their patients. I remember years ago my oldest daughter was going to prom but couldn't find anyone to do her makeup at a reasonable price. I was telling the front desk girl about it. The office staff is so caring and “make things happen”-anything from scheduling a time around a child’s schedule to hunting down an affordable pharmacy. Dr. Kwong is “cutting edge.” Our daughter's skin is responding to Dr. Kwong’s expert action plan. We are so grateful!

Dr. Kwong was referred at first by my son’s Pediatrician but we liked her and her office so much that we now our family sees her. She’s funny, thorough, didn’t take any chances with a questionable mole on my young son’s back. I’m sad to see such polar reviews concerning the Dr.’s receptionist; we’ve only ever had pleasant (and also humorous) interactions with her. We highly recommend Dr. Kwong and her office :)

The staff is very rude and not professional. They have very poor people skills. The Doctor is okay but i think she focuses more on pushing Pharmacy prescriptions that instead of worrying about the child care.

When calling to make an appointment the receptionist on the phone had an attitude. Don’t know if the receptionist working was who I spoke with on the phone , but she also had an attitude. When I asked for a receipt I was not given one and told i would have it when she printed it. I contemplated leaving but tried to give the place benefit of the doubt. The waiting room seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Dust everywhere , dirty ceiling fans, and pet hair on the (cloth) chairs that shouldn’t be in any medical office for sanitary purposes. The nurse who took us back to the room was nice, the doctor seemed to be nice but after I told her I came in to get office for a second opinion with my sons skin she made it seem like she knew exactly what the diagnosis was but that she needed to file it in the system for any future medical visits what to and not to give my son... then insisted that we had a biopsy done right then and there (which I did not allow) When I took my son to the bathroom I saw the room they would have down the operation in because the door was open and again didn’t seem to be clean. I have had 2 of my 3 children to Dr Kwong and she is efficient and on point. I have never had a problem with the front desk.

We have been seeing Dr. Kwong for almost 17 years. Started seeing her when she was at Nemours. Took care of my daughter's skin condition when no one else could. Love her and so grateful for how she takes care of my daughter. We are so blessed to have her in our community!!!

Horrible front office staff. Rude, and very unprofessional. Child was wrongly diagnosed and Dr did not thoroughly examine my child. Waste of time and money.

Office staff is so unfriendly and unprofessional! Too many details to list, but you are better off seeing your pediatrician! In addition to the rude staff, Dr Kwong diagnosed my son with two different skin conditions because she didn't know which he had. We will not return!

The office is extreamly rude , they never notified me my daughter needed an appt to refill her prescription and now my poor two year old has to go without medication till she has an appt . I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS DOCTOR JUST BECAUSE OF RUDE STAFF
