I have a family member in the icu at Wayne memorial. It seem that they do not care-the doctors. The nurse are nice and they do their jobs correctly. They only give you 2 option. Either you pull the plug on your love one or put a trachea and feeding tube in their stomach;Then they ship your love one to assisted living. This seem to be the protocol that they tell the family. I try to request a transfer and they say we do the same thing that other hospitals would do. THIS IS A LIE. They never tell you the truth one doctor would say one and the next time another doctor would say something else. I wish I knew who to talk to. All they do is break your hope. I truly hate them and their doctors. Anybody who enter icu ended up with a code blue or in a vegetation state at a living facilities

I would not recommend Dr. Mayo for care during critical situations. He is very rude and does not have a sensitive bone in his body. My family member is in the ICU and we asked to speak with him, and he acted as if it was an issue. He was rude and did not grant our request for a transfer. Unfortunately our family member received poor treatment in the UNC Goldsboro hospital and was not transferred and may not make it. Dr. Mayo needs to work on his communication . I don't care how many years you have, If you are rude to your patients and family members that makes you not respectable. Dr. Mayo needs to work on listening and not yelling at the family members because understanding the grief process is a part of his job.

Dr.Mayo is very nice and so pleasant to talk to,he takes time to explain things to you in words you can understand, this was my first visit with him and I was very well pleased he and his staff were very friendly ,on time and over all just great!!

Dr Mayo is great but his staff, nurse is terrible, call her and she will never call you back

Dr. Mayo is the best pulmonary doctor I've ever had!! He takes time to explain my meds and how to use each one. We were military before and the doctors would just give me Advair and say use this. Actually I believe he is knowledgeable about a lot medical problems!!
