Good and prompt service. my correction has held for at least 6 or 7 years so far.

Our son fell out of a tree and was in severe pain that he couldn't even walk. We knew that it was Dr. Shalow's day off, but he had a willing heart and told us that he would meet us at his office within 30 minutes. He found the problem right away in our son's pelvis and after Dr. Shalow adjusted him, our son was able to walk again. Thank you Dr. Shalow for your healing touch!

I cannot express how much this clinic has helped me. The people are exceptional and provide the best care I've ever experienced in a medical setting. I came in with chronic back pain due to many bone spurs in my neck and severely damaged disks in my lower back. With gentle adjustments that seemed almost non existent my spine straightened. I could stand straight for the first time in literally 40 years. One of the best parts of this treatment- as your adjustments hold you go less and less often. It's amazing.

My daughter encouraged me to try upper cervical care and I’m glad I did. I have responded better than I have previously with other forms of chiropractic care. My neck pain is gone and I have much fewer headaches. The adjustments are extremely gentle and the staff is very friendly.

I first arrived at their practice barely able to walk and suffering from numbing and fast cramps on my feet and hands. It was torture. I learned so much my first day when I saw Dr. Orem. She took her time to explain all that she was going to do to help me feel better and keep my "atlas" aligned. I have been dealing with scoliosis since I was in middle school. My leg, hip and shoulder have been imbalanced for over 35 years. They are now all balanced due to the gentle and pain-free adjustments she does. Dr. Orem is very professional and she really cares for her patients. Dr. Schallow is the best ever. I had never been to a Nucca chiropractor but am convinced it is because of Upper Cervical and Dr. Schallow that I was able to cut my chemotherapy short. A great experience.

Dr. Schalow, Dr. D., & Dr. Orem are the best chiropractors ever. For me, it’s been *worth* the drive 35mins each way for the almost 2 years.

Dr. Schalow and his colleagues do an excellent job of identifying misalignments and readjusting them for each patient. The process involves no pain and makes one feel better immediately. I highly recommend the Upper Cervical Care Center.

Great unique service that many people need and do not know they need it. I was rear ended in 2000, whiplash. Actual migraines started, if I did not take Excedrin When the headache started, I would throw up. One Dr found my atlas off, one adjustment stopped them. So many years later and in another city, they came back and a friend told me about Upper Cervical. I called right away and got in with Dr Orem. This place is amazing!! I used to have these strange phenomenons in my head that would make me feel very disoriented. Ever since I have gone here, they have gone away completely!! The most amazing thing is that they don’t crack your back, like other chiropractors do. They somehow realign your spine with the slightest touch, and it really does work. This type of treatment was new to me. But so very glad a few friends told me about their success so I gave it try. The staff is so kind and helpful. Dr Schalow taught me a lot of important info about our necks & spines. The adjustments are great. I know now what not to do which is key in walking through these conditions that need attention for healing in those areas. I know this is a keeper for me and we will have the best mobility for it. I have struggled with migraines most of my life & nothing seemed to help until I started going here! Since starting treatment, I not only have minimal headaches and migraines, but my overall health seems to have improved drastically. It’s an odd feeling to be pain free after 20+ years of struggling.

I came to Doctor Schalow 12 years ago. I was in bad shape. My Atlas out 4 and three quarters a degree. More than almost any patient three other NUCCA Docs have seen. My body was as stiff as an 80 yr old farmer a friend who was a PT. I could barely walk. Nobody could find out what was wrong accept the NUCCA doctors. Long story short with NUCCA and Alexander treatment from Dr Schalow I am am getting better every week. My mom was diagnosed with Parkisons by 2 doctors. But her DaT scan showed no Parkisons. I have seen a typical chiropractor in the past and was not comfortable with that style, but was desperate to get help for my back, so I was again looking for Chiro care. A friend recommended your practice. I am a believer in Homeopathic options and that the body has tremendous capability to heal itself. So my personal beliefs fit with what I was told at your office. I was, honestly, not convinced that it would work, but it did. I even have personal proof – I came in with a middle back misalignment that I could feel with my fingers. I have used traditional chiropractic before and switched to Nucca. The first adjustment seemed very odd- no twisting, popping, or pain. The next day, my neck and back began popping and adjusting itself as the muscles relaxed after they had corrected the top vertebra. I have relief in my neck, back, and sciatica from the adjustments they do. They are very upfront about how much chiropractic can help, and also how it can't for all people. They are also the only chiropractor I've had that will wean you off the adjustments as your body heals and is able to hold itself in alignment. I came across an article regarding cessation of cyclic vomiting syndrome after upper cervical care. My family and I had previously been seeing chiropractors who forcefully crack the neck and back or use the activator, and our health conditions had not been improving, so I did NOT want that kind of treatment again. Our family practitioner recommended Upper Cervical Care Center/1st step chiropractic. It was 1.5 to 2 hours drive one way to this office, but I still made the appointment and am glad I did. We saw Dr. Orem in May, 2018. She took low dose digital X-rays and went over the X-rays with me. The family member with cyclic vomiting syndrome, (P), had a misalignment that was eleven degrees and Dr. Orem said the typical misalignment is two degrees. The first adjustment was, (thankfully), done the same day as the X-rays. Dr. Orem called the next day to check and see how P was doing. Six days later P experienced a very mild, very brief vomiting episode, and we came back for another adjustment that Friday. P started having hot flashes and insomnia so I drove to Rockford for adjustments twice per week, (and that stopped the insomnia and hot flashes). I noticed that P's bowel movements were becoming more regular and formed, without any dietary changes. We had P adjusted 12 times over a nine week period, and then we just couldn't handle the drive anymore. P is now with a different practitioner, however, we miss everything about Dr. Orem, Dr. Schalow and this practice. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, and Dr. Orem was very patient and calm with pediatric patients, (and a nervous mother). The prices were reasonable as well. I can not recommend this practice enough. For the first time in years, I feel my family has found healing and that is nothing short of a miracle. Our son was diagnosed with scoliosis earlier this year. Dr. Schalow is so thorough, and he's so gentle. Our son's spine is now STRAIGHT and we are very grateful. I highly recommend Dr. Schalow.

Recently I took a misstep on a 2 foot ladder and landed hard on concrete which was causing pain in my left hip radiating to my left knee. At first I thought it was just strained muscles and I gave it some time to heal. No luck! I called Dr. Schalow on Friday (11/23/18) and was seen that Saturday (during Thanksgiving no less). Since I have been a patient of his for a number of years he was able to diagnosis the issue at hand and provided treatment. I will be seeing him for a follow up and continue to do maintenance visits with him. My mistake was not continuing to do maintenance visits. Dr. Schalow is extremely competent Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine with a exceptional bedside manner. and PS. I am feeling relief in my hip and knee. I have gone to Dr. Orem for about three years. She has seen me through my typical health and after a car accident. I know I will feel better after a visit to her office. The care here is patient focused.

Dr. Schalow! He is intuitive and intelligent - a unique combination for a doctor. I came to him after seeing a physical therapist and another upper cervical doctor in Madison, WI. This was so painful, as I was being treated for over two years for a very sore neck. I could not lift a plastic grocery bag into my house. I was so discouraged with the treatment I had prior to seeing him. Nerve pain is the worst... I was skeptical at first as my friend suggested this new doctor.
