Dr. Rajesh Bisnauth

It is with great disappointment that we write this review about Dr. Bisnauth. We strongly caution against seeking care from this physician, as our experience revealed a disturbing lack of concern for his patients. He prioritizes his work with insurance companies above patient needs. Our son has autism and was approved for only 9 hours of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. We requested additional hours as our son began hitting himself and engaging in other self-harm behaviors, but Dr. Bisnauth callously rejected our request. It was clear that he cared more about his own interests, including his moonlighting work with insurance companies, than about the wellbeing of our child and our family. Dr. Bisnauth's rejection of additional therapy for our son resulted in months of appeals, during which our son continued to suffer. We were fortunate that the state of New York intervened and forced insurance to provide the additional hours, but the lost time was critical to our son's progress. We cannot overstate how terrible our experience with Dr. Bisnauth was. His lack of concern for our son and our family is simply unacceptable. We urge others to avoid seeking care from him, and to look for physicians who prioritize the needs of their patients above their own interests.

It is my believe that the bond between parent, child and pediatrician should be special. You should trust your child’s doctor and feel comfortable asking questions and receiving feedback. There is an expectation that the pediatrician will be kind, knowledgeable and caring. Needless to say, excellent bedside manner is a wonderful bonus. That being said, I did not have a good experience with Dr. Bisnauth. My experience left me confused and tearful. We are new to the area and new to the practice. Never having been to the office, I expected the doctor would at least formally introduce himself. I was wrong. He came into the room without an introduction or a hello to either me or my child. No small talk, smiles or welcome to our practice. I am also heavily pregnant and there was no acknowledgment of that either, which is certainly not a requirement for anyone. It just added and defined the tone of the encounter as cold and awkward. By this time my toddler was otherwise engaged with a television show. I promptly turned it off, which any toddler parent will know created a firestorm of tears. Dr. Bisnauth seemed irritated by my child’s tantrum and lack of cooperation. He continued with a very scaled down physical assessment in silence. He then callously asserted that my child seemed to have a language delayed. Mind you, my child was still upset and crying. I asserted that I didn’t have such concerns as my child speaks well. He then sarcastically stated that he hadn’t heard my child talk here. Next, he spoke about my potty training and our lack of potty success while gazing down at my child’s diaper. Lastly, he moved to the computer and asked if I had a concern. I mentioned one and provided documentation. He quickly brushed my concern off and stated that my child needs two vaccines and walked towards the door. There were no follow up questions or discussions regarding my child’s height, weight, BMI and whether they were on target or lacking. No charted plot reviews. No questions on other developmental milestones, learning, nothing. No pleasantries. No nice to meet you. No have a nice day. No nothing. The entire encounter probably lasted less than 10 minutes. I wish I was exaggerating. But, it was 10 minutes. 10 minutes of standoffish verbal and non-verbal behavior. I want to rationalize his behavior. But, I can’t at all. I am also in the healthcare field and would never treat any patient like this. It is my belief that all patients should at least be respected. I understand that offices and staff are busy. There are lots of moving pieces and often days can be unpredictable. But, this is when communication becomes key. My only thought is that perhaps there was some preconceived notion towards us. But, this was my first encounter with the office and I had never spoken to the doctor prior. If there was by some random chance, he should have addressed it with me. I am saddened because I had high hopes as he was recommended to me. As an aside, the nurse was very kind and welcoming as well the front desk. I wouldn’t recommend this doctor. The office is very clean. The staff is very friendly and professional. My kids have been coming to the office for a few years now. The Doctor’s are knowledgeable and caring. The Doctor my boys see is Dr. Bisnauth and he is great. He takes time to listen to any concerns you may have. I recently recommended this office to my friend and she loved it. He has been with our family for 13 years! He is thorough, thoughtful and caring. We continue to see him even though we’ve moved to Connecticut.
