Out standing physician

Dr Hoffman has the bedside manner of a lizard. He does not answer your questions and is rude and uncaring.

Patient involvement in their care and decisions, courtesy, and listening are important to me in my medical care. This is especially true when it involves something as important as my vision! I appreciated that Dr Hoffman was willing to accommodate my medical needs, but it was not worth his dismissive attitude and decision-making without discussion. It does not take extra time to listen & respond courteously about a concern following surgery, and future options. I’ll go elsewhere for further care

First of all, if you are going in for a eye exam, you do not receive a exam from Dr. Hoffman. He has his young staff perform the actual exam. He then enters the room for a few short minutes and exits. Last year he saw a small cataract, when I questioned him this year, he seemed surprised by my question. Also, after two visits, I am not returning. His office has made several mistakes, and as a patient, I deserve better care.

Dr Hoffman implied that the fact that he used the wrong power IOL in both eyes was my fault by saying 'you'll never be satisfied' This was the last straw for me. He now suggests he go back in and replace one of the IOLs. After he has tried and failed once with each eye, I don't want him to do surgery on me again.

Ten minutes after my appointment time, I did see a technician, and after a couple tests was directed to an over-flowing waiting room where I waited for over an hour to see the doctor who spent about three minutes with me. He was not familiar with my chart at all, and needed to ask me what exactly I was there for. He was neither personable nor friendly. The staff seemed harried. My sense is the office over-books; staff said it was usually that busy. I will not return.

The office staff are the absolute worst! Lies deceit and retaliation when you stand up for yourself! What bothers me most, is if this doctor will stand for this behavior, what else is substandard? If they allow an employee who will behave like this who has worked for him for a month, what else will he allow? Take your business to a company who deserves your trust and your business!!!! Refusing to release records is illegal!

I would suggest you to find another doctor. Dr. Hoffman is well qualified, has lots of awards, and diplomas but he is more a robot and will treat you like cattle. He lacks communication and interpersonal skills. He has too many patients, you will wait a long time to get an appointment and finally once you see him, you will be lucky if he spends more than 5 minutes with you. I do not recommend him at all. The staff is not efficient managing medical records either.

Dr. Hoffman & staff are very professional and up to date on the most current research and care. I highly recommend their clinic for anyone who needs any type of eye care. Seeing an ophthamologist that is cutting edge can help you get the best care in Eugene. The reason why there is wait time is dilating drops are often used, testing is done & the physician examines you.

Poor bedside manner. Inappropriate comment to patient about physical appearance. Did not introduce self or meet patient, answered a number of questions with I don't know. Gave conflicting, confusing advice. Walked out of room without a word before patient had clarification on advice. Wait times were 1 1/2 to 2 hours past appointment time both visits.

This guy seems more like surgeon than opthomologist: No patient input at all. You're not aperson, juat a pair of eyes. He's not a person, just a pair of hands. May need therapy.

i agree with the person who gave the 2 star review about lack of communication and bedside manner, but to me Dr. Hoffman's diagnoses and surgical skill were more important. I informed myself via the internet about my options for lens implants - none of the people with whom I compared notes about this knew or cared what kind of IOD they received. It reassured me that Dr. H. has received many awards and invented new procedures and tools.

I'm sure Dr Hoffman is very good technically - however, I would never recommend him to a friend. His office actually TIME when you come in. The doctor spends, at most, 5 minutes with you. He looks in your eye, gives his pronouncements from on high about what he thinks should be done (always the most expensive options first, such as sewing shut your eyelid, when it has been improving with much less invasive procedures), never asks if you have any questions, never gives you any informed consent information about what he's proposing (don't know how he gets away with this), and then waltzes out the door. I have been seeing him and Dr Sims for the last 5 months, and wish I had never switched doctors. At least the other doctor acted like he cared about me.
