Dr. Richard J. Levenberg

This man is a genius. Gives me a reason to live

Dr. Levenberg has performed two surgeries on me, both were for severely herniated discs at L5 S1. One in 2014 and just recently in February 2023. I was in more pain than I can describe in words before the procedures. But after clear and very well-explained appointments, I had a quick date on the calendar for the surgeries. Dr. Levenberg took his time both in office appointments as well as the day of surgery to fully explain and answer all my questions about the surgery, risks and post expectations. I'm pain free now and extremely grateful to have such a talented doctor on my side. I owe him a debt I can never repay. I have my life back. And I can say enough for his staff in the office too. They were great. They treated me with dignity and respect.

I had two appointments thus far. Everyone was polite and conscientious. They run a smooth ship. Dr. Levenberg is very professional and has a warm bedside manner.

Dr Levenberg performed a lamincetomy on L4 L5 after I was in severe left leg pain for 6 months. He said it would instantly take the pain away and it did. He is very professional and explained everything to me. He answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. My previous review was a bit vague n harsh. After meeting with him again he explained to me that he did see me after surgery but I was still out of it from the anesthesia. I see him post op a couple weeks later and I will see him again in a month to discuss a further healing plan. I felt much better about things after seeing him again today. I told him about other issues I had with riddle hospital and he apologized for them. Good man.

I waited for an hour in the office to be seen for consultation and the whole lobby was packed. They didn’t have enough chairs for ppl to sit in. Some complained they’d been there for hours waiting. Levenberg was nice and explained my surgery to me n he’s doing it soon. I feel confident with him and hope it all goes well! Update: I had my back surgery a couple days ago n it went well. Dr Levenberg spoke with me before surgery but that’s the last I seen him. I thought for sure he would talk to me afterwards but he didn’t. Nobody even told me how the surgery went I had to assume it went well. Felt a little abandoned by him.

I was impressed with Dr Levenberg. He is sending me to a neurologist and pain management to access my neck pain. Then he said he'd give me a game plan after my consultations

Dr Levenberg and the whole office was great. He did surgery on my back and I went from 10 plus pain to a 0 after my recovery. Two of my children met him and they couldn’t say enough good things about him. I saw him three times in his Broomall office and he came in to see me before surgery. He was very personable. I would definitely go back if there are any other problems and recommend him to family and friends. You won me over.

Had Dr. Levenberg perform 3 surgeries so far (neck back and carpal) always was caring informative and professional.

Dr. Levenberg, and his team, made my medical experience a positive one with them. From appointment access to assessment to treatment to follow-up care/concerns I was heard. He is professional, knowledgeable, experienced and personable. Yes, RNs and PAs do the initial intake and documentation, but that allows Dr. Levenberg to focus on the patient, clarify & assess the reason for visit versus looking at the computer to document. Yes, focused time may feel short, but he stays until all questions and concerns are answered. I am an RN and was terrified of a possible cervical issue. He listened, tapped on my wrists and smiled stated "Carpral Tunnel", but let's get a few dx studies to be 100% sure. Surgery was the treatment and it was amazing how that corrected the weakness, numbness and tingling that i was living with for months. Yes, I would recommend Dr. Levenberg to others!

From making an appointment, visiting the office, the staff and physician were extremely professional. Questions were answered in a respectful way and did not feel rushed or ignored. They have x-ray services and the surgery scheduling was very easy.

I have seen Dr. Levenberg twice with an extremely positive experience. He was very thorough, asked me what were my questions, wonderful bedside manner, told me to get second opinions if I wanted, and has a kind staff. He performed surgery on my lower back with a successful outcome!

Dr. Levenberg and his staff are totally professional he is warm and concerned. He gave me comfort durning surgery along with his staff of medical professionals. He gave me all the injections and therapy I needed to help me return to my job. In his office they are by far the best run doctors office I have ever seen. Premier physical therapy are also so helpful and caring they worked with me for almost 7 months. I worked hard too. I am thoroughly satisfied with Dr Levenberg he may be my best doctor ever. I have already referred one friend to Dr Levenberg. I am a 66 year old female with a physical job I will recommend Dr Levenberg to anyone I know with a back problem I am confident that he can help them too. Dr. Levenberg was amazing! I had a herniated disc at the L4-5. He performed a laminectomy on me, and it was a great success. Before and after the surgery, Dr. Levenberg was very kind and reassuring about the diagnosis, procedure, and recovery. He made me feel assured that surgery was the right path for me. I highly recommend Dr. Levenberg to anyone who has a similar issue as me.

Dr. Levenberg was my savior after a month of agony from excruciating back pain. My entire life was put on hold as I could barely function without constant assistance from my family. Medication, epidurals, exercise....nothing worked. I was then referred to Dr. Levenberg who immediately diagnosed my issue and scheduled me for surgery just one week after my first visit; at a time when getting timely health care was quite difficult. I was leery about getting back surgery, having no history of back pain prior to this issue. But it seemed like the only solution. And sure enough, the results of the surgery were instant and my life is back to normal. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Levenberg and his team.

Dr Levenberg is my hero! I’ve been going to him for yrs with lower back pain. We’ve tried everything from PT to epidurals & it got to the point nothing worked anymore so we came to the decision it was time to have surgery. I had a laminectomy & discectomy on the L5 S1 2 weeks ago. I’m walking again, I have 0 pain in my leg & recovering nicely! Dr. Levenberg gave me my life back! He’s kind, gentle, & very thorough with explanation during any procedure. His staff is outstanding! Always willing to help, I’ve never had any problems whatsoever. I have had three surgical procedures with Dr. Levenberg. All three have been a full success. The three procedures were focused on the Lumbar spine regions of L3 to L5. Dr Levenberg explains situations very well. He made me feel comfortable at all times. He is courteous and always asks if I have any questions or concerns. He clearly always sought what was best for me. Quite professional.

I felt like the appointment was rushed first. During the appointment I told Mr. Levenberg that I was not interested in one of the procedures that was suggested for my condition. It seemed like he was annoyed with my decision. I felt the attitude after communicating my decision turned into "oh well, live with the pain, and work through it." Maybe he thought about the tone and then spoke to me about some other procedures that could possibly help with my condition. He misunderstood something that I said to him during the appointment. To clear up the misunderstanding I spoke with the assistant and she spoke with the doctor about my concerns. I waited by the door and as he walks past me quickly he answered the assistant very aggressively and looked at me and then walked into his next appointment. In the end I was given a note to return to work without restrictions knowing my condition that HE diagnosed, he did not put me out of work so I did not need that. I also requested my record from this practice, in reading my record I found something else in there that was not discussed with me. There is also a statement in my record saying that I asked for the return to work without restrictions note and that is not true either. It is a shame that this practice is like a revolving door and I'm sure they thrive on accident cases etc... I will be exercising my right to second opinion. Dr. Levenberg and his team did an excellent job taking care of me after a bimalleolar fracture in my right ankle. They were professional, competent, and caring. They treated me like I was a V.I.P. and then I observed that they treated EVERY patient like that! Dr. Levenberg took the time to answer all my questions and explained things in a way that I could understand. I'm six weeks out since my lower back herniated disc surgery. I'm so happy with the results! I was able to stand, walk, and go up and down a flight of steps the same day of the surgery. I no longer have the sciatic nerve pain down my leg and my lower back pain has greatly reduced. I'm excited to see how my healing will continues to improve. His bedside manner is warm, caring, and positive. Willing to answer any questions you might have before and after surgery.

Once it was discovered that I needed surgery on my cervical spine, Dr Levenberg really put my mind at ease. Appointments were always timely and Dr. Levenberg listened to my concerns and addressed all my questions. I had very minimal pain immediately following surgery and any discomfort I did have was expected. He met with me just before surgery to make sure I knew the plans for that day and check if I had any additional questions. He was also there in recovery checking in again. He is extremely professional and I would recommend him to anyone facing spinal surgery.

Dr. Levenberg was regifted my mother's life to her after a terrible compression fracture. She lay on her back in agony and could not perform even the simplest task. Dr. Levenberg's surgery was nothing short of a medical miracle. She was able to walk the day of her surgery (albeit gingerly) and has been increasing her competency slowly and with great care in the past week since. We are grateful to Dr. Levenberg for giving our mother back to us.

It has been two weeks since my lapindectomy. Dr. Levenberg was honest and took the time to explain to me why I needed the surgery. He told me he could fix my back and gave me the confidence I needed to get the surgery. My rating is definitely 5 stars.

It is not the easiest news to hear that you should have your back operated on for a compression fracture. My pain was pretty intense. But meeting with and listening to Dr. Richard Levenberg explain every step of the procedure, definitely put my mind at ease. He was patient, kind and understanding with my questions and concerns. And After hearing everything he shared with me, I decided to put my trust in him and go ahead with the Balloon Kyphoplasty procedure. He and his staff have been so wonderful with my care from the day I met them and through my post op follow ups. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Levenberg to anyone.

I saw Dr. Levenberg in August 2020.... he told me that day "I am 100% confident i can fix your problem .... That's all i wanted to hear ... My first surgery date was postponed and he called and said " I still want to be your Doctor .... That was never a question for me ... I had complete faith In Dr. Levenberg... When the surgery was completed in February 2021 .. everything he told me would happen did .... Just all in all it was a great experience... I feel good ..I have a lot of recovery time to heal ... Dr. Levenberg did a great job for me ... I would highly recommend him to anyone I'm extremely happy with his work ... I really can't say enough ... Dr. Levenberg has treated my mother (93 years old!) for kyphoplasty due to compression fractures in vertebrae. He has performed this procedure three times in the last six years and she had always been relieved of her pain. He is so kind with her and takes all the time you need. His staff is top notch with appointments made, reminders and follow-ups. Truly a well-run office and exceptional care. I might mention he was also recommended by several nurses, which is high praise!

Dr. Levenberg was helpful in understanding my condition and articulated the options without bias for me to consider. Ultimately I sought out surgery and Dr. Levenberg and his team were courteous, professional, and available to answer questions throughout the process.

He even asks about my family which is very important to me. His diagnoses and solutions have provided invaluable relief for my lower back and legs.

Dr. Levenberg was excellent. During my initial appointment he took time to carefully ensure I understood my spinal condition and my options. He explained and then provided reading materials to ensure I could carefully consider whether to proceed with surgery. the surgery went extremely well and when I awoke in recovery I was already free of the radiating pain and numbness I had been experiencing in my legs. The post surgery appointment was again highlighted by clear communication and patience as he described what had been done during surgery and future rehab.

Dr. Levenberg is an outstanding physician. He thoroughly explained the procedure he would be doing. The surgery was completed without any complications and the pain that I was experiencing was gone. He personally took the time to contact my wife before and after my surgery to keep her advised of my condition. His staff was always friendly and professional. I would highly recommend him.

Insurance initially declined and Dr Levenberg and his staff did everything they could to schedule my spinal fusion surgery (L4-L5, L5-S1) in February 2020. I could barely walk without extreme pain, and nine months later, I feel great. I still have some general back pain, but my legs feel great and I am walking ~5 miles a day! Dr Levenberg and Dr Aksu are amazing surgeons!

Dr Richard Levenberg is an exceptional Doctor and Surgeon who made me feel comfortable from the very start. I was very concerned about the diagnosis about having a herniated disc in my neck. I went to PT and then my condition began to worsen and Dr Levenberg stopped the PT. Dr Richard Levenberg then made my surgery a priority as I knew I could not wait any longer due to my symptoms and returning to college in the fall. When talking with Dr Levenberg he always answered all my questions and made me feel well cared for. Even at one point when my symptoms flared up a week before surgery where I became very scared I left a message for him and he called me back even when he was on vacation. He never made me feel as though I was bothering him - I always felt he first concern was my wellbeing. I am grateful that Dr Levenberg went to medical school to be of service to the community. Thank you for caring so much about me. I am two weeks out from my cervical fusion and healing well.

Dr. Levenburg is a very friendly and understanding doctor, and listened well to my concerns. He did my back surgery and i’ve never felt so great in my life. Had severe sciatica pain running down both of my legs from a lumbar disc herniation (L4-L5, L5-S1) and never thought I could live a normal, adult life before my surgery. five star I was 100% comfortable with Dr Levenberg and he diagnosed this right away, as I was misdiagnosed from previous. Decidied the surgeury could not be postponed or put on back burner any longer. Office is completely unorganized.

I had two visits with Dr. Levenberg about the issues going on with my sciatica and maybe spent a total of 3 minutes in the office with the doctor. I didn’t even get to see the results of the MRI and X-rays that we’re required for my follow up. Just felt like they wanted you in and out of office as quickly as possible.

I love sitting in a waiting room for over an hour after my appointment only to not be seen. Dr Birns, just call me with my results so i don't waste any more of my life. My confidence in Dr, Levenberg grew with each visit, his confidence, knowledge, care, and kindest made me feel like I was in the safest of safe places and a Friend not a patient. The team at Premier are excellent and definitely care about their patients. On the day of my surgery I was nervous up until the time Dr Levenberg came in to prep me and from that point on I was ready and had already begun to recover!!! I needed back surgery...couldn't walk for any type of distance, my legs hurt,and I was depressed. I'm diabetic and knew surgery was a risk. Dr. Levenberg listened to me and gave me my options of which surgery was one. He told me the dangers but I need my quality of life to improve. If it worked, I would improve dramatically. It worked. Recovery wasn't easy and it was painful because he had to manipulate the nerves. He had warned me, but I was a bit in doubt. A little over 4 months and now I know he was right about everything. He did a fantastic job and I'm so much better...I feel like I can live my life again - walking distance is not a problem. He's excellent and his staff is exceptional. Everyone who I came in contact told me I had the best doctor for what I needed done. I am a believer. Thank you, Dr. Levenberg for giving me my life back.

Dr. Levenberg is a wonderful Dr. After a few months of being in severe pain an MRI was ordered. I ended up needing an ACDF surgery. I was worried about Surgery but Dr. Levenberg did a wonderful job & everything went smoothly. The pain in my arm & shoulder blade & the tingling in my arm & hand is now gone. He did a great job & I would recommend him to anyone who needs a good Ortho or Spine Specialist.

Outstanding doctor who truly cares about his patients and will do whatever is necessary to aid in the finding the issue to the complete healing. Dr. Levenberg took the pain that I was experiencing from the inability to walk to the ability to have no pain as soon as the surgery was completed, and within one week I was able to go from a walker to a cane. If it was possible, I would give Dr. Levenberg 10 stars.

I had severe disc herniation and had severe pain going down right leg. I could not walk or move. After the surgery I felt so much better. I can walk now and right leg is not numb or painful anymore. Dr. Levenberg is amazing! From the initial consultation through the surgery and post-op follow up, he was sincere, professional, courteous, and an absolute pleasure to have as a doctor and surgeon. For a 90 year old getting a Kyphoplasty, he made what could have been terrifying, nothing but a wonderful experience! I would recommend him to anyone!

Had kyphoplasty on two vertebrae. Dr. Levenberg has helped me considerably: I had extreme pain prior to the operation and now have only minor pain and I'm recovering in physiotherapy. I would highly recommend Dr. Levenberg. His office is very busy so expect to wait some time when you go for your appointment particularly later on in the day.

I had a laminectomy with Dr. Levenberg two weeks ago. I am already back doing everything I did before except heavy lifting. He operated on 2 vertebrae and removed several bone spurs. I could barely walk before because the pain was so bad and now it's practically gone. It's already improved my life. If you need this surgery I highly recommend Dr. Levenberg.

Surgery for lower back and leg pain one and a half years ago by Rothmann in Bryn Mawr. Pain returned and was more severe. Second surgery was recommended in less than a years time. Sought second opinion from Dr. Richard J. Levenberg. He ruled out several possibilities with physical therapy, epidurals, ultra sound of my legs and nerve tests of both legs. He recommended a surgery directly below my previous surgery and said my pain would be gone. Surgery was performed at Riddle Memorial Hosp. with no complications. Dedicated, helpful and understanding staff made my stay very comfortable and believe it or not, I thought their food and selections were excellent. I am now without pain or pain meds and it feels great to live again!

Can I give 0 stars? Waited for over an hour for a 2 minute consultation. Had me on hold on the phone and when I finally got through, I got hung up on mid sentence. Won't give me my test results until I complete all my testing, which could be a week or two. Very busy practice with not enough support.

No bedside manner, refuses to listen, waited for a little over an hour just for him to come in and tell me that there was nothing wrong with me. As of today, I suffer from nerve damage in my leg because of a pinched nerve in my back that could have been seen before the damaged occurred if he would've helped me. The Staff at this office I felt were very nice and professional. If you can locate another Doctor, please do so. Here twice. Once for me and once for My husband. Both times there was an hour and 1/2 wait for my “ scheduled apt”. Overbooked and understaffed. It is extremely frustrating when your time doesn’t seem to be considered as a paying customer/ patient.
