The nurse practitioners are great. The office staff will prevent you from accessing care. Hard enough dealing with mental health struggles without someone inventing additional roadblocks to accessing care.

Very satisfied with the professionalism at this office and the quality of treatment. Waited less than I typically wait at a doctor's office, came out with a treatment plan and a follow up visit. Sent the prescription right over to Costco, and it was ready in two hours. Would certainly suggest them to others.

I don’t ever leave reviews but this time I felt I really needed to say something. I left Dr. Pesikoff’s office years ago as I never actually saw him and was always passed along to one of his NPs or something. The last girl that did my follow up kept talking over me and being super pushy when I couldn’t give her my pharmacy information fast enough. I came back recently as my psychiatrist was taken out of my network and I had to find someone else quickly. The first three months I was passed off to another NP (shocker!) who seemed really bored but at least she got my prescription right. I went in recently for a follow up and the NP was very nice and made me feel very comfortable. Unfortunately I was sent a substitute for my usual Adderall that gave me all the side effects but no actual help from the medicine. I tried reaching out to the staff on the portal and was met with a “sucks to suck” attitude from them. No help, no advice on things to try to help cope, or anything. I expressed how fatigued, scatter brained, and how much worse my anxiety got and no one cared enough to even call me. They just said that nothing could be done but to write down the manufacturer so they could avoid prescribing that one in the future. As if I had ever needed to express which manufacturer to NOT to send me on a prescription I have been on for almost a decade. If you have to pick somewhere-I guess this would be a good pick. Otherwise, I would really suggest you look elsewhere. I guess only certain cases get to actually see Dr. Pesikoff. The rest of us get passed off to his nurses/assistants. I don’t ever leave reviews but this time I felt I really needed to say something. … More

Went to him as a teenager, because I had always had uneven performance in school - tested highly, might make straight As one 6 weeks, be pulling a C minus in a class next 6 weeks, usually due to not completing homework. Closer I got to college, more conflict it caused between me and my parents. My parents were referred to Pesikoff, he quickly decided I was depressed, put me on Prozac, he was convinced my problems were due to not being good at sports which must have harmed my self esteem. True I was never good at sports, but never cared much about them or not being good at them either, but as I listened to him go in and on about this, I looked around at all the sports memorabilia in his office, I realized sports were his issue, not mine. Stopped going to him, found a psychologist who did actual testing, and she and I were both surprised when her test results indicated I had ADHD Inattentive type. Through therapy to learn coping strategies and a stint on Ritalin I was able to overcome my ADHD enough to graduate college and a masters program. Pesikoff completely missed the correct diagnosis because he was so fixated on sports, as well as the sound of his own voice and pushing antidepressants. third time now in less than a year that they don't not answer the phone during business hours for prescription refills, nor do they answer calls from pharmacies. - but what about your patient portal? - that would be wonderful if they ever followed through with my requests to send me the sign up email. The doctors on staff are wonderful - whoever manages the office is deplorable. How you can prescribe medications with such harsh effects when even a day is missed, yet be so inept at answering the phone and acknowledging refill requests is beyond me. third time now in less than a year that they don't not answer the phone during business hours for prescription refills, nor do they answer calls from pharmacies. … More

Dr Pesikoff was my psychiatrist in 2007/08. Of all the psychiatrists I've worked with over nearly two decades, no other psychiatrist seemed as genuinely interested in me as a human being and not merely another patient. I recall our appointments lasting well over half an hour: the first half was business, then we usually talked. He asked me questions, open-ended questions about psychiatry in general, medications, spanking children, medical ethics, or about the limits of patient education -- among many other topics discussed. I remember all this. I've never had a doctor, much less a psychiatrist, engage me and ask, What do you think about this... Now, in hindsight, I realize my answers to those questions probably told him far more about me and my cognitive processes than asking simple questions with simple answers. While under his care I could go about my life unburdened by my brain and concentrate my energies on school and work. 13 years later I'm back in my hometown again and, after a nightmare experience with a psychiatrist's office in Bellaire, I remembered Dr Pesikoff, still practicing after 40 years, and made an appointment. This time, I saw Deanne, Dr Pesikoff's nurse practitioner. I knew that anyone practicing psychiatry alongside Dr Pesikoff is world-class so I couldn't wait to meet her. Not only was Deanne kind and very easy to talk with, her assessment was thorough, she asked questions other doctors have preferred to skip over, and I knew within 2 minutes of the first appointment I had nothing to worry about, I'd be taken care of, and this is an office I can absolutely rely on. If you want quality psychiatric care, make an appointment. If you're a cash patient it's not as expensive as many individual psychiatrists who increasingly do not accept insurance ($400+ per appt), or the Baylor College of Medicine ($500+ for a new patient appt). If you pay $500+ to see a psychiatrist, there should be a pill for that and you should take it. Dr Pesikoff and his team run circles around BCM and unnecessarily high priced cash-only psychiatry. Now that I'm established again, I'm not going anywhere unless I move for some reason or the practice moves. In the end, thank you so much for taking care of me and my weirdly complex brain. I rarely post reviews, but I have to in this particular situation. This office now refuses to see me due to the fact that I’ve missed a new patient appointment. During the time I missed, I was in and out of the hospital and in the midst of applications. In addition, the medication I’m currently on inhibits my memory. Should I have still remembered? Absolutely. However, as a facility created with the purpose of assisting mental health patients, I find it absolutely abhorrent that such a policy is enforced. It is quite literally putting the health and lives of patients in danger, and that is just unacceptable. I should also mention that no attempt was made to contact me, and no attempt was made to inform me of the missed appointment. Please note, this is in no way, shape or form a comment on the staff. I’ve had absolutely no negative interactions with the staff and I’ve no negative things to say about them. This is purely a comment about the dangerous nature of a company policy. Dr. Pesikoff saved my life. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child when my family lived in Houston. We went through multiple doctors and meds without success. Most of the doctors we saw were only interested in using meds to make real changes. But Dr. Peskioff really helped us to understand what having ADHD meant for both me and my family. He taught us useful skills and coping strategies and helped me process my feelings. I am so grateful for everything he did for me. I’ve gone on to lead a successful life thanks to the work we did as a kid. I’m a college graduate, happily married, and running my own business. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for this man.

I've only seen a PA there, not the actual Dr on the name of the establishment. I have always been able to get appointments when I needed. My longest wait time was about 15 minutes. For me, she asked whether I wanted an appointment just to essentially discuss medication needs or if I wanted an appointment to actually sit and talk (talk therapy). I chose just medication so my visits are only about 15 minutes where I show up and get my prescription filled. For me it's a sort of in-and-out appointment if you need a place that caters to that. I'm interested in doing more of the talk therapy but I can't comment on that side since I have not done it. The office is on the non-busy side of the Galleria so pretty easy in and out. Never had an issue with parking right outside the front door. I've only seen a PA there, not the actual Dr on the name of the establishment. I have always been able to get appointments when I needed. Awful customer service. When requests are sent in it is always delayed. I have to call in to ask them to do it anyway. Today, I called in after sending the prescription through the portal and they said there was a message left for me in the portal that I had to make an appointment and that they are not allowed to call or email me to let me know. Not once have we seen Dr. Pesikoff. The receptionist is RUDE! Stay far away from this place.

Just had our first appt today with the nurse practitioner and it was the worst doctor appt experience I've had in my life. This appt was for my 5 year old to discuss possible ADHD, and possible treatment options. I've worked as a medical professional in adult neurology and neurosurgery for 4 years, and have had ADHD my entire life. I have a very firm grasp on this subject and quality standard patient care. Dr. Pesikoff came highly recommended to us by the multiple neurologists I work for, who Dr. Pesikoff treated their children for ADHD and ODD 20 years ago. My spouse is generally opposed to treatment, he's law enforcement and has obvious concerns surrounding the types of drugs used to treat ADHD. I was hopeful that with this doctor's experience and expertise, we would be able to have my husband's concerns and questions addressed, and help him understand the dynamics of this diagnosis and the treatments available. That did not happen. His NP was cold, and very rushed, and became frustrated by my husband's questions and him asking for more detailed clinical statistics. Towards the end of the visit she flat out dismissed him entirely saying to me as if he wasn't even in the room, that he just doesn't understand how it feels to deal with ADHD. She mentioned twice, that she was running out of time to continue to speak with us, so when I stated that we would just make a follow up to actually speak with Dr. Pesikoff, she quickly informed us that Dr. Pesikoff wouldn't spend no more than 20 minutes to meet with us, and that is why he doesn't see new patients, because they require more time. I was appalled at the lack of concern and professionalism by a provider, and by the way she completely disregarded my husband's prescence when he was not swayed by her short answers and it was obvious his questions surpassed her level of knowledge on the subject, yet she proceeded to make us feel as though his knowledge on the subject was because he "just doesn't get it" instead of further educating us about it. After 40 years, I am sure Dr. Pesikoff would be embarrassed to know the presumptive manner in which his mid-level providers speak of the way in which he practices and treats patients. My daughter was seen by a PA on regular basis and him once. Honestly he doesn't treat all patients equally. The PA and staff are very cold and robotic. There is no personal investment there. Very apathetic staff concerned with this is your diagnosis take this. If you question to much or your child is to complex a case they will dismiss you and don't give you but 1 week notice and don't care if child has another doctor to be able to get medication. It turned out to be a blessing the psychiatrist she sees now actually talks to her and not at her and is invested and available to us so him dismissing her blessed her she would not get this at his practice. If it's simple ADHD or something then their sufficient but bi polar more complex, multi issues I'd advise against My daughter was seen by a PA on regular basis and him once.
