Dr. Robert Carangelo

Dr. Carangelo is the best doctor. He really takes the time with you and listens to your questions and answers them. I had both of my knees done one in October and the other in January. My first knee seemed to heal a lot fastest then the second one. The second one I had some issues with swelling. Dr. Carangelo helped anyway he could. My second is fine now, and I should have done these operations a long time ago, but waited till I got his name and how excellent he was with his patients and knowledge. It is great to be able to walk normally. I suffered for so many years and by the time I went to Dr. Carangelo I could barely walk. I would recommend him totally to anyone that asked me. He is a 5 star doctor.

This is my second knee replacement surgery with Dr. C. Both surgeries went flawlessly. If I ever need an orthopedic surgeon again I will only use him. I will crawl to his office if necessary. Thanks Doc!

Excellent surgeon who did my total hip replacement almost three months ago. As busy as he is, he always makes the time to answer questions and give helpful hints to speed the recovery time. He is always in a good mood and is genuinely happy to see his patients. The patients in the waiting room are eager to share their experiences with him and give raving reviews to first timers waiting for their first consult. Bone and Joint is a fantastic facility to have your surgery. Top notch skilled and caring professionals made the experience one I’ll never forget. Dr. Carangelo’s Force ‘system’ checks in with you through daily emails and encourages you to email their team with any questions or problems you encounter both before and after your surgery. They respond the same day ( within hours mostly) with information, suggestions, prescriptions, etc. to help you better manage your surgical experience. Thank you Dr. Carangelo, Amy, and staff for making a major surgery a little less frightening.

I have been a patient of Dr. Carangelo since 2004; I have had three arthroscopic procedures and both total knee replacements. He is the most sociable physician I have ever had. He does not rush through patient visits, he takes time with each patient to ensure they understand what was discussed and answers all their questions; never rushing them. I live one hour away from his office and would not consider any other orthopedic surgeon! I recommended him to my son for a partial knee replacement and arthroscopy procedures and other family members as well.

I can’t say enough about Dr. Carangelo. He is the best and most compassionate doctor I have ever had. He replaced my hip in late February and will do my other hip sometime this fall. He is the best and takes the time with the patients concerns. Hartford bone and joint institute is amazing. Had surgery Tuesday morning and was discharged Wednesday by noon. He and his staff are the very best. ??????

My experience with Dr. Carangelo has been outstanding from my first visit. He is skilled, kind, encouraging, and honest. He replaced both my knees and has helped me regain a lifestyle of mobility that I was unable to have before surgery. I highly recommended him.

Dr. Carangelo is a top notch surgeon! He is kind and patient and explains everything. He works with you until you are ready for the surgery and then he does a fantastic job! Would recommend him to anyone needing a total knee done.

great doctor who is busier than anyone should be

I had 4 surgeries with Dr. Carangelo and I know without a doubt he is one of the best in his business. I highly recommend him. He takes time to explain the surgery and what to expect after . Fortunately it has been just as he described. I hope not to have another surgery, but wouldn’t want anyone other than Dr. Carangelo to perform it , if I did. God bless him and his practice. AMAZING Doctor, in every way. Surgery at 11 am, walking at 4 pm and NO PAIN (other than very manageable surgical pain) I love my new hip, should have done this a good 7 years ago. I am a new person. Thank you, Dr Carangelo!

Excellent orthopedic surgeon!! Dr. Carangelo replaced my right knee with total replacement. Much easier than i expected and he has the best bed side manner. Even though I wouldn’t be able to pick him out because of the damm face masks, still think he’s great.

Listened, then explained exactly what the diagnosis was and how he was going to treat condition and planned timely follow up.

I had total knee replacement in 2017. My recovery was quick and pretty darned easy. I very highly recommend Dr. Carangelo.

Dr Carangelo did my total knee replacement and will be doing my next one He had the best bedside manner , very patient and caring easy to talk to he explained the whole procedure and now I know why his office is so busy would recommend him to everyone!!!!!!!!

Dr.Carangelo did both of my hips, total hip replacements and he gave me my quality of life back!! He is awesome at what he does, great personality and just an all around wonderful and very knowledgable person!!

great outcome, was walking without a cane or walker in two weeks. The pre surgury prep was excellent. This was my second hip replacement. I had the left hip done four years earlier and the pain and recovery was something I was not looking forward to again. Dr Carangelo promised me it would be a better and less painful experience. It was a much better experience and my recovery was much faster . Thank you Dr. Carangelo for your care and compassion and restoring my quality of life.

I met with another surgeon concerning my knee, and went to Dr Carangelo for a 2nd opinion. I knew as soon as we started talking he would be the doctor to perform my knee surgery. Dr. Carangelo was wonderful. My total right knee replacement went perfectly and my recovery was just as it should be. Now I know why it takes a while to get an appointment with him! But it was worth the wait.

He cancelled my full knee replacement surgery via a voice mail left by a front desk girl after business hours a week before. He can NOT do any complicated cases, only simple. We lost over 2 months and came to life-threatening situation of such unacceptable behaviour. We think about opening a law suit.

I absolutely love Dr. Carangelo!! He did my left shoulder surgery 14 yrs ago and again the same surgery on my right shoulder this time. He has a great bedside manner, always pleasant! Dr Carangelo is the best by far, He operated on my arm and did knee replacement surgery on me. I've been to so many orthopedic drs. and he is the most compassionate and understanding doctor I have seen. Very understanding about your needs and concerns and doesn't rush you out. Looking forward to him doing my other knee replacement in May.

Great results for TKR. Personable, answers questions clearly and thoroughly. Only issue is that he is really busy and oftentimes there is a wait time at appointments. Once you are with him, he acts like you are the only one in the building when you know there are several waiting. Never rushes you. Recommended him to my best friend and she is scheduled for surgery on October 12th. SKB surgery April 29, 2016

It was awesome experience working with Dr. Carangelo. His knowledge on the condition of the patient and his plan to treat is just impeccable. I am glad and feel lucky that I was referred to him to treat my knee injury. He checked my MRI and went right to the point that I need ACL reconstruction. The surgery experience was very friendly too. He had given detailed PT plan for post surgery, and my knee feels like just normal in 5 months. Thank you so much Dr. Carangelo for everything.

Would not recommend this doctor...he did open incision on my shoulder when he could have done minimally invasive but later said why should I do that when I can do an open incision in less time. only concerned with himself.

I just had need replacement-- DR. Carangelo is the best--he has a great personality--very caring and a great surgeon--I never write reviews but had to do this to let other know that he truly and honestly that you will be in great hands. He has done my meniscus twice but the total knee replacement is harder but he took care of me by ordering a compression machine that was delivered to my hose to take down the swelling--totally through and so is his staff thanks to hillary for all her help-

Dr Carangelo explains everything, is willing to take the time to answer questions. I don't feel like a number.
