Roberto Norniella

Dr. Norniella is the best psychiatrist by far. He takes time to listen and address every concern. He’s very competent in regard to diagnosing and treating the exact problem rather than give a blanket solution for everyone. He’s very open and caring, easy to talk to, and I absolutely recommend his services.

WORST SERVICE AREA. Michael Boyd is the only part of this office that matters. However, you'll never reach him because the office staff is truly INCOMPETENT! How do you not answer the phone for a BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINIC!! Their only option is for you to call 911. Maybe your best option is to send a fax.

The administrative staff is incompetent and downright rude at times. Never answer the phones and consistently forget to call in prescriptions. It can take 2 weeks to schedule an appointment because the staff do not answer the phones. Michael Boyd is great, but not worth it.

I never do this, but the kind of care this ppace is supposed to provide makes me feel that others need to be warned. Its hard to find a psychiatrist in the area and this place had the earliest appointment...shocker...so I would say if you need any appointment make it to get your meds, but keep calling around until you find a new place. I have called repeatedly over the last couple of months because I had to reschedule an appointment in July. It took weeks for anyone to call back. When they did, I was in class so I couldn't answer. I called back the same day and never heard from anyone. I went up there last week as I was running out of meds and the chick at the desk 'apologized,' scheduled me a new appointment, and said she would call in my meds. I ran out today and went to my pharm...no meds called in. I have been calling repeatedly since I left. No one answers of course, but someone sure has the time to send me straight to VM instead of answering and asking me to hold. Apparently they are moving offices so that takes up all their time...yeah right. I really like dr. Boyde but the office staff is terrible. They called me this morning and I missed the call and now it has been 3hrs and still no response when I call back...SO FRUSTRATED!!

Dr.. Boyd sees all of Dr. Norniella's patients plus his. He does a great job juggling the many balls, I meant patients. I hear B&B Circus is calling him. Please, this is just a joke. That's all! I ♥️ Dr. Boyd.

Dr. Norniella has decades of experience and is a compassionate caregiver. He is very good at handling cases that are too complex for general practitioners. For severe or unusual cases (we had this in our family) he will refer to Emory or another research institution for evaluation, then return to his care once a treatment program is established. Worst place ever. Try to call to make an appointment and they left on hold for over 5 minutes without asking and nobody came on the line. The lady that took the call acted like she didn’t feel like working.

Being a patient of theirs is like being on an assembly line. After waiting 40+ min you’ll be ushered in for a 7-10 min Rx refill appointment. They are totally extorting their patients’ dependence on medication. Sidenote: the secretaries are untrained and rude. Only waste your time/money here if you have no other choice. They never answer their phone and they are often closed when they are supposed to be open. Almost fifty percent of the time they will call the day of my appointment and tell me Dr.Norniella will not be there and it is a pain to try to reschedule because they don't answer their phone!!! I was treated with less than optimal respect from Dr. Roberto Norniella, which was disappointing because his website boasts, "We here at Eastern Atlanta Behavioral Health pledge to treat our patients with respect, dignity, and individual attention." I did read the reviews on here before making my appointments, but I still wanted to check out the place for myself. I understand that being a mental health professional can put one under a lot of pressure, but that does not excuse your dismissive and rude behavior. How do you expect to pledge to treat your patients with "individual attention" when an appointment lasts 10 minutes? Frankly, it is very hurtful to be rushed in and out of your office to get as many patients within your 15 minute appointments because it gives off the impression that you are only working for your paycheck. For someone who has studied the human mind, Dr. Norniella's behavior is all the more unacceptable. You do not tell a patient that, "I am not liable for your death" especially when he or she is suicidal. I go to a psychiatrist and expect to build a relationship based on mutual trust, but I left with a horrible and distasteful experience. For any students at UGA or people considering Eastern Atlanta Behavioral Health, please take my review into consideration and do not schedule with Dr. Norniella. Hard to get them on the phone, but Dr. Boyd is great.

Boyd is great. But the office staff rescheduling appointments is bad. Can't get through on the phone. And now they don't call and remind you of your appointment. I'm only giving 3 stars cause I love Boyd. If it wasn't for him, I'd leave

I will start by saying I see the Physician's Assistant, Michael Boyd, not Dr. Norniella. Michael Boyd provides an extremely professional and personal experience. I have never been anything but pleased with the treatment I have received from him. If it were his practice alone, I'd likely give it five stars. However, the administrative aspect of this office is extremely disappointing. While friendly enough in person, it is nearly impossible to get this practice on the phone- almost always sending you to an answering service. Non-responsive to faxes regarding refill requests, and not answering the phone is extremely difficult to work with. Be careful with your medication, as if you do not schedule your appointments corresponding with your prescription renewals, you can expect to lapse in your daily dosage for a few days trying to get your refill. This office also does not have a "cancellation list," where if one person were to call and cancel an appointment, then the time would not be rescheduled with a different patient wanting to be seen ASAP. That is probably my largest complaint, because many times I find myself needing to speak with the doctor or the PA sooner than my scheduled appointment, and without a cancellation list + their lack of answering the phone, it is practically impossible to do so. Very concerned about well being of my circumstances. Dr. Norniella has been much more helpful than the last 3 psy that I have been treated by. New office will be a helpful attribute to the practice.

I’ve seen Dr. Norniella for years now. He has always been professional, receptive, and respectful. It feels like he actually listens to you and responds adequately with medication suggestions. If you’re not doing well one month, he wants to see you again in a month to check on how you’re doing instead of just writing a prescription for three months and sending you on your way. His appointments typically are under fifteen minutes; however, this is very normal for a psychiatrist. I have never felt rushed out of an appointment. 1st-phones are ALWAYS rolled, even when they're open. 2nd-refused to see my ADULT son w/o me because he didn't know the names of his medicine, but also wouldn't let him call me to find out what they were. 3rd-refused to adjust medication when I went to his next appointment and told him his manic phase was occurring more often and was more severe. Told me to monitor him for a month before he'd change anything. 2 weeks later, I had to admit him into psych hospital. Like I don't know my own son.

Love this Dr. Never wait long to see him and in and out. Prescribes all the right medicine for my condition.

shady thieving office staff

Horrible experience for me and my husband. Tried to send me to the nut house. And treated my husband as if he was stupid. Do not waist your time.

Rude and a total joke! He's an awful psychiatrist. I've never before experienced anything like him in 25 years of seeking mental health treatment. Arrogant and cocky are the two words I would use to describe him. PLEASE do NOT waste your time or money on him.

You will make your appointment a month out and each time they will call you the day before to tell you the doctor wont be in the office, making you reschedule. Terrible practice making it impossible to get the medication you need. DO NOT GO HERE!

I would never recommend this practitioner to anyone. I've never dealt with anyone in the mental health field who was so rude, arrogant and dismissive. If you don't like to help people, maybe you should not be in healthcare.

Rude and disrespectful! He's a total joke as a psychiatrist. I've never seen anything like him in my 25 years of seeking mental health treatments.

Showed Compassion and understanding on 1st visit..

The wait times are BRUTAL!!!! I'm still waiting for my appointment right now and I've been here an hour. The wait times always seem to be at least 30 minutes for me. But I like Dr. Boyd a lot. The front desk staff could be more friendly though. They can be kinda rude or off-putting. But like I said, I really like Dr. Boyd. I'd recommend him, but only if you have tons of time and don't care about the front desk ignoring you.

I've been seing Dr. Norniella since he opened and they have ALWAYS been pleasant and accommodate my needs. I have taken the same medicines for over 15 years, Dr. Norniella makes it hassle free! And between Jesus, my,Pastor and my husband, I have plenty of counselors!! Thankyou Dr. Norniella and all of your staff!

I definitely would NOT recommend this doctor. The staff is rude. I had a problem with my medication. I was prescribed the WRONG mg on meds I have taken for years! It took 2 days and I had to call them.Then they sent my refill to the wrong drugstore. Terrible office management and incompetent service

If you know what you need, and what you need is difficult to get from other doctors, this is your guy. If you need someone who actually listens and spends time with you, keep looking. This is an assembly-line.

All appointments were 10 mins long with the exception of 1st visit (for a previously undiagnosed patient) which was about 15 mins long. Office policy actively discourages bringing family/support person to appointments. Discovered this on 4th visit when I was scolded by office staff (at his direction) for bringing spouse, who attends all appointments with me. Very upsetting experience. Terse bedside manner, does explain things relatively well (but quickly). Don't expect an in-depth appointment.

My average visit was about 10 minutes. He always seemed mildly annoyed at having to deal with me even that long. I felt the goal was to get to the prescription as quickly as possible to maximize turnover. There was very little exploration of my experiences or issues. I missed a couple of appointments by accident, but never went off my meds. When the meds weren't working he essentially blamed me for not doing my part.

After struggling for years to get the right medications with the VA this group has helped more in two months than six years with the VA. Highly recommend.

This is the only psychiatrist in the area that accepts Medicaid. They are just what I need and have been crucial in my recovery and helping me get my medicines together. Absolutely recommended.
