Oncologist Dr.Samer Shihabi is another outstanding physician I was privileged to meet and benefit greatly from during the entire last week of this hospital stay. He gave me thorough daily exams and explanations, made very effective  hospital treatment adjustments, is optimistic, and gave me and my family much needed hope for the early release received by directing our focus and faith efforts on what was needed for a miracle breakthrough on my bone marrow once again producing healthy blood and platelets.

I have been seeing Dr Shihabi for just over a year now and have found him to be the most patient, caring, and understanding doctor I have ever had. He guided me through 17 sessions of chemotherapy and 36 radiation treatments. He has answered every question I have had and always takes the time with me to understand our plan for the future. I just had my last chemo treatment today and am cancer free as of my last mammogram.

Dr. Shihabi is a rare physician, one who listens. During our appointment I felt he treated me as a person, rather than a patient or client or just 'someone over there'. I felt cared for. Professionally, he is the best, able to explain clearly my medical condition, including the gray area, the area for which we are still waiting results., lessening my anxiety. I would trust Dr. Shihabi with my parents, knowing they would be getting the best medical care available.

Dr. Shihabi is patient, listens carefully, and has excellent eye contact. He focuses on the person and not the computer. Who would not appreciate such a doctor! I have not needed to schedule urgent appointments.

Dr. Shihabi is the most competent oncologist I know. He gives me all the time I need to ask all the many questions I have at each appointment. His warm smile puts me at ease as his knowledge and experience comforts me. My family comes with me and he never makes anyone feel out of place. Dr. Shihabi let's me decide when I am finished with my questions...I am never rushed and this is everything to me! I will recommend him to anyone dealing with cancer... I am in the best hands and I trust him!

Dr. Shihabi has always been straightforward with myself and my mom. He is very tactful and sensitive when providing bad news to his patients. We feel that he saved my life and will always be indebted to him and staff at Mercy and Sutter where I saw him previously. Over the years, Dr. Shihabi and I developed a wonderful friendship and he is more like a close friend to me, rather than a medical provider.
