About Samir Khanjar
Reviews for Samir Khanjar
At 20 weeks I had a heavy bleeding episode where the blood was just pouring down my leg after my shower. We had waited 10 yrs and did IVF using the last of our frozen embryos for this pregnancy. It was late at night so I went to the ER. Khanjar was my Dr and happened to be on call at the ER that night. By the time I got to the hospital the bleeding had stopped. The nurses working called him to see what he wanted to do. Since he had just left the hospital he didn't want to come back and told them to send me home. No ultrasound or anything. I called him the next morning to try to see what to do about work since I work 12hr shifts in Manufacturing on my feet with some heavy lifting. He advised me that he didn't need to see my and I was fine to continue to work. I called my friends mom who's a doula to ask her opinion because I was really worried. She suggested not going into work and getting a second opinion. She referred me to a high risk doctor who saw me immediately. He sent me right away for a ultrasound and saw there was a large bleed due to placenta previa. I was put on bedrest right away. I continued to bleed and at 25 weeks I was admitted to the hospital for risk of hemorrhage. I stayed in the hospital until I delivered at 32 weeks. If I hadn't gotten a second opinion and stayed with Khanjar I would have definitely miscarried. He could have cared less. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone!!!
I am using an alias. I have given Dr. Khanjar 4 stars. I have been Dr. Khanjar's patient for years. Like another reviewer on here, I have seen him address a staff member sternly. He even gets a tad stern with me if I don't follow every recommendation he makes. There is a fine line between reminding a patient about preventative care and chastising them for not following recommendations to the letter. He comes pretty close to crossing that line. I think he is a perfectionist and he gets frustrated with those who are not, lol. He obviously cares a lot about keeping his patients as healthy as possible. I don't think I would want to work for him, but am very happy to have him working for me! UPDATE 2-26-21: My rating has changed to one star. I have been Dr. Khanjar's patient for about 20 years. Apparently it has been a few years since I last saw him. This week I had an urgent need to see him. When I called for an appt., the office told me that I had not been in for three years so I am no longer considered a patient. I have to wait for a new patient appt. (after 20 years with him) and the next opening for that is five weeks from now. I can see how a Dr. might need to drop inactive patients. But I've never heard of one doing it to anyone and I don't think a patient should be dropped without warning/notice. I thought I was an established patient of a gyn and therefore my Dr. would see me pretty quickly if necessary. I would have done whatever I had to do to prevent being dropped if I had known about the policy. This "surprise you have no Dr." is not ok. I can't wait five weeks to be seen. I found a gyn that will see me next week (I hope I don't end up in the ER before then) and I will not return to Dr. Khanjar. I am using an alias. I have given Dr. Khanjar 4 stars. Have been seeing Dr. Khanjar for years. Great bedside manner, easy to talk with, listens and cares about his patients. He saved my BF life a few years back. Great Dr!
Super unprofessional. Just had an appointment recently just to be told that the information and results that I was given last time was false and that I was just “Too emotional to understand what he was saying last time” -Dr.Khanjar. He had performed a breast exam on me, along with a pelvic exam and didn’t even recall doing that, meaning he did not even note that he did these exams on me. Little strange. Thank gosh for me having a witness in the room to back me! He kept on saying I was way too emotional to comprehend information. He then proceeded to tell me “ I am looking at your results from your ultra sound now and there is absolutely no problems!” But when I went and got a second opinion, I was told otherwise. I was told some important information that is actually life changing (Too personal to share) that he just so happened to miss somehow ???!!! He is playing with my future at this point! He is playing with my life! Do not ever want anything to do with him ever again!!!! I completely discharged myself as a patient from him. HE IS TERRIBLE! Super unprofessional. I have had issues with this office now since December really. It started off a bill I received for a test and multiple calls back and forth between Myriad and the office that could have been avoided if the office staff were a little more educated on the situation. I was told results for a test regarding cancerous cells were POSITIVE over the phone, but then during my appoint two months later - as I was walking out I brought it up to my doctor who stated no they were negative. Second downfall, with my birth control. I had many issues with the first one they prescribed in october, they wanted me to finish out the three months and the follow up regardless. (Which I did) I am now falling into the same symptoms with a new bc, plus additional mood swings and worsening headaches. I have attempted to contact the office with NO answer and no way to leave a voicemail. It’s effecting my entire life. My appointment keeps getting canceled or pushed further. Although Nunez is very nice and her office is too, I feel like I will have to search for a new ob or get off of bc all together. This has been a horrible experience and I feel like she is picking things out of a hat some days. I have had issues with this office now since December really. I went to see dr kanjhar when I was 12 weeks. Found out I was pregnant at 8 weeks and it took a month to get my first appt. I went to my appt and had some bleeding from the placenta. Dr. Kanjhar said I was having a miscarriage and to "make sure I walk and excersize as much as I can". I told him that I was told by the Union ER to stay on bed rest. He said that "they don't know what they are talking about and that they are not trained in these situations and bed rest will cause more harm than good"..... Um okay? So I ignored that advice. I asked if there was anything I could do to stop the bleeding or prevent the miscarriage. He said "no. If it happens it happens". I was also on subutex and was to to just stop cold turkey. So I left the appt with as little information as he could possibly give me. I had made another appt for a MONTH later because that's all they had available even tho I was bleeding and he was "concerned" of a miscarriage. I went to my next sceduled appt (still pregnant I might add) a month later and the reception desk had scheduled me wrong. They said I missed my appt so I showed them my card with the date and time. The receptionist was very nice and tried to fit me in. Aparently they were full and I was told to come back. I was angry because I was concerned about my baby but I agreed. They scheduled my next appt for 4 WEEKS LATER!!! So that would make a full 2 months that he has not checked on me or my baby that they claimed I was "miscarrying". I ended up in the union er for problems with bleeding 2 days before my appt. I called the doctor office and they said they could not fit me in and to bring the paper work from union when I come to my appt in two days. I met with another dr. In Kanjahrs practice at the hospital. He was very nice and explained things to me. Very respectful and caring. He said that my baby was 21 weeks but growing small at around the side of a 19 week old baby. They said my placenta was coming unattached and there's a high change the baby will not make it to term and I have a high risk pregnancy and need to be seen once a week to measure the baby. They said the baby might be having loss of nutrition and oxygen due to the bleeding. They also put me on a very sugary diet to fatten the baby up.... I have diabetes... But I was going to follow it to help my baby grow and gain fat. I believed him but I wanted a second opinion. I went to johns Hopkins immediately after leaving the ER. Johns Hopkins requested my records from union OB and union hospital. My record was different than the papers they sent me home with. (i have both records from the same day. So they gave out two different results for the same appt and same baby) the paper they sent to hopkins stated that I was only 12 weeks (i was 21 weeks). It also stated that I had placenta bleeding and could be going into preterm labor. Hopkins did extensive testing for 5 hours. Results? My baby is the size of a 21 week baby. I have a small tear in the placenta but it is able to fix it self. I am not in preterm labor and they believe the baby will make it to term. I was told to have bed rest and to eat my normal suger free diet. I was advised not to return to union ob and that they get a lot of woman come in for second opinions by a higher up at Hopkins. They said my baby is not high risk and he's doing just fine. So I have all my records from union and union ob. Aparently I have already had a miscarriage, my baby is not growing correctly, I'm in preterm labor, I was given a sugar diet basically while I have diabetes. When in fact my baby is the right size healthy and ALIVE. Hopkins was not worried about the baby at all and sent me home with scheduled appts to see them from this point on. I would never recommend anyone to see this dr. Some of the other staff are very nice but they don't actually seem to really look into what's going on. They seem to mess up the appts and blame you. And they seem to be too busy to go into detail at appts. They also made me think twice that I lost my baby. When I clearly didn't. Do not go here. I went to see dr kanjhar when I was 12 weeks. The doctors are all great but the staff is terrible. They are so unorganized it’s ridiculous. When I arrived to my appointment I was told it was canceled. They asked me to sit down while they figured out what happened. After waiting 15 minutes they informed me someone scheduled my appointment wrong and someone else noticed and canceled the appointment the day before. I drove 45 minutes to my appointment only to be told I need to come in the following week. Why wasn’t I called the day before to be told this? Why was my appointment canceled without informing me? Again unorganized The doctors are all great but the staff is terrible. They are so unorganized it’s ridiculous. When I arrived to my appointment I was told it was canceled. he is amazing
Excellent bedside manner. Have been seeing him for 10+ years.
We Absolutely love Dr. Kanjar! He delivered my son and supported my unmedicated birth. He was patient with me and kind and I would recommend him to all of my friends!

Pedantic, condescending, patronizing. Poor communication between doctor and staff. Staff called me to relay results, then another staff called back in two days to give different results. No one took responsibility. When attempting to ask the Dr. a question, he dropped all professionalism he conducted himself with front of the nurse ("What's up?"), unfocused on my concerns, impatient. Told me twice with impatience that the office would call me in 2 weeks with results of that day's procedure. No call. Then they call to tell me I missed an appointment. I had not scheduled one for that day.(I worked that day) I ask them about the results. She had to talk to the doctor to see. She gets back to me and says the doctor "does not remember telling me they would call in two weeks". A blatant lie. Ihad put off seeing a doctor for a lack of trust in healthcare practitioners. Dr. Khanjar was actually patronizing to me about that; his subsequent conduct as a doctor has given me plenty of reason for my reservations. Pedantic, condescending, patronizing. Absolutely amazing bedside manner. Beyond impressed. Would recommend to anyone needing help with complex issues.
Dr.Khanjar delivered my very first baby, I will admit he was a little curt at first but, when i sat back and took into consideration he was on duty for 72 hours, and my son was baby maybe 40 for him that weekend my feelings changed a bit, so i think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. He is very concerned with making sure everyone is healthy and i think when it comes to this type of a job you should be concerned with your patients heatlh. I was happy with him and i am still with him 5 years later, and starting the process to have my next baby with him as my Dr again. Not everyone is bubbly all the time, i think he just wants people doing what needs to be done to ensure both mom and baby are well in the end. I really like him appreciate his dedication to his craft. Dr. Khanjar delivered my son. We moved late in my pregnancy and he was quick to get to know me and my preferences and when I mentioned that my son had been breech at my last check up he immediately ordered an ultrasound and asked me if I wanted to attempt an inversion. He performed that procedure on me and was as comforting as a doctor could be through it and then ultimately performed my C-section. He ensured that I was constantly well-informed and taken care of and may have come across as condescending to the nurses but as a patient it felt like I had a knowledgeable doctor making sure no one tried to cut any corners with me. I had difficulty getting my blood work results transferred from my previous doctor and he was a huge help in keeping me from stressing about that while pregnant. I recovered quickly and it felt like he was always at my back and really took the time to make everything go smoothly for me, not even necessarily for the interests of his practice. I suggest him to anyone looking! Dr. Khanjar delivered my son. I was questioned if my husband was my husband and he kept deferring to me as a child when I'm almost 25. Never felt so belittled.

gross stains on the floor of my examination room. first appointment doctor was somewhat professional, did his best to explain and comfort me, a new patient. second appointment was disappointing. afterward i felt unwell, dizzy and had concerns that i had trouble voicing. he was impatient, unprofessional "What's up" was his greeting to me, as if we are friends. we are not friends, he is a doctor and was judgmental and dismissive, a complete turnaround from his demeanor during procedure. weird.
