Dear Dr Southard. I'm not sure you will receive this mail. But I need to ask you if you can refer an Orthopedic Surgeon that lives in Carson City. I just can't keep driving over an hour to go to your office. I came today March 6th, and I sat in the room for an hour waiting to see you. Then when I did all that you told me was you would contact the person that did my CT scan and find out why they didn't find anything. I can't keep going on day by day with the pain I am experiencing. I love you as a surgeon and the work you do but I think its best I get someone closer.

The doctor and staff were very nice. And the other reviews I read lead me to believe that i could have an indepth conversation with him. However, unless you are prepared to do surgery right away this is not the doctor to see. Surgery was his first and only option right out the door. He refused to discuss any other options like shots for my knee that I have had in the past. I spoke with medicare today and we have a right not to be bullied onto a surgery. This doctor simply stated that he would not give me a shot of cortisone or remove the fluid around my knee because it could lead to an infection to close to surgery is bullying. It implies that surgery has to be done sooner rather than later. I tried to discuss with him that 6 or 7 months down the road I could get family help for surgery recovery. But not now. His response was there are nursing homes available for recovery period. This is a not an emergency and there are other choices are available. His beliefs should be very up front when one calls to make an appointment and states that they are calling for an appointment to get shots and have had them in the past. I even offered to bring or have records sent in. Which they did not want. So now I am out the copay and still walking around on a swollen knee. The doctor and staff were very nice. I have never felt more cared for by a doctor in my life. My pain that would be insignificant to most was cared for and discovered with the most utmost respect. Dr. Southard truly cares.

Both my husband and I have been patients of Dr. Southard. Kind, knowledgeable and compassionate. He replaced my knee. A shoulder replacement, a hip replacement and arthroscopic surgery on his other shoulder for my husband. We recommend him highly .

Doc S is a wonderful Dr.! Not only is he kind and compassionate, he is VERY knowledgable! He also speaks in laymen terms and makes sure everything that is going on with your injury is explained in detail and in depth so you understand. God Bless this Dr. Am grateful we still have Drs like him!

If you are looking for an orthopedic surgeon look no further. I would highly recommend Dr. Scott Southard. He is a very caring doctor which is a rarity nowadays. Dr. Southard took the time to listen to my concerns and he explained the different options for my ACL knee surgery. I had my surgery on Wednesday morning and by noon I walked out of the hospital with a brace. I went back to work two days later and was back in the gym the next Monday. Dr. Southard is clear, kind, prayerful and a great surgeon. I had right hip replacement surgery in April of 2015 and have had no problems with it since.

Kind, compassionate and great at hip transplants! My husband got his 19 years ago. He walked the first day and never stopped! He was never in pain and it was the perfect length and size! Dr Southard has the Lord on his side, and his staff prays for their patients quick recovery! Sweet kind people! If only more people were this way the world would be an awesome place!
