Dr. Collins and his staff are friendly, courteous and on time. He's informative, patient and explains everything in detail....What a savior !

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer he was sincerely concerned about my prostate cancer. He explained the whole procedure with me. Still to this day he check on my PSA . To see that my cancer didn't come back. He's a great doctor in my opinion ????

Just over two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After consulting with Dr. Collins and doing a lot of homework on him, I was - and I still am - convinced that he is a brilliant surgeon. If I had it to do again, I would be very comfortable with Dr. Collins performing my surgery. Unfortunately, while Dr. Collins is an excellent surgeon, he isn’t a very good doctor. His post-operative care left a lot to be desired. He neglected to call in a medication I needed, and I got no relief when I mentioned it to the nurse on a follow up visit and subsequently contacted the office about it. I never did get the medicine I needed. I talked to him about this on a follow up visit, and I met with the office manager who promised to look into it and let me know what happened. I never heard back, and now I have to assume that there was never any intention of actually following up with me. I expected an ethical standard that wasn’t present. I had another appointment with Dr. Collins for care and treatment after the radiation therapy I went through. We are supposed to be monitoring my PSA and Testosterone levels. That appointment never materialized because Dr. Collins’ office kept calling me to reschedule – always pushing the appointment back a month or more. When they called me this last time to reschedule and push the appointment back another month, it finally became clear to me that Dr. Collins isn’t truly interested in my care. An appointment that never happens isn’t any kind of care at all. Dr. Collins had abandoned me, and I should have understood that sooner. I told the nurse that I would find a doctor that was actually interested in my care. I think that’s what I should have done in the first place. I should have gone to Dr. Collins for my surgery, but then I should have found a doctor who was actually interested in my follow-up care and working with me on the problems I was having after the operation. That’s what I’ll do now. UPDATE 1: Since Ochsner replied below, I did contact the provided email address and gave my contact information. The reply was, ”I have passed your comment onto a supervisor in Dr. Collins’ department.” Subsequently I received a phone call, not from a supervisor, but from the same office manager I spoke to about the failure to call in medication I needed last year - the same person I never heard back from. I asked her about that, and after consulting her notes, she explained that she left a voice mail. I do not recall receiving such a voice mail, and if I had I would have absolutely followed up. Normally when I leave a voice mail and I haven’t heard back from a valued client in 24 hours, I will call them again until I reach them. This doesn’t seem to be a practice of Dr. Collins’ staff. I was given no satisfactory answer in regards to that situation or my current situation, but she did apologize again – for what that’s worth. Ochsner Health System has literally saved my life more than once. Dr. Collins saved my life by performing a complex surgery that he performed competently and successfully. I am truly grateful, and I have never had cause to complain before, but this particular situation has been a singular and glaring failure of Dr. Collins personally, his staff, his office, and Ochsner Health. Again, I expected an ethical standard that wasn’t present. I am really quite shocked and disappointed that the follow-up to this review was for Ochsner Health to have me contacted by one of the people who failed to provide ethical care to me in the first place. My patient rights, as defined by Ochsner, were violated in a real way. I was abandoned in the medical and legal sense of the term. I have not been heard, and I haven’t seen anything that would indicate that these problems are being taken seriously or being rectified. I am uncertain where to go from here with this except to put my experience into the public record. I have to change my original conclusion. If I had to do it again, I would find another surgeon. It was my first time going to Dr. Collins and it certainly will not be my last.. Dr Collins along with his team was informative and compassionate. Great job!!

Very informative on explaining my options on a treatment plan for my Bladder Cancer, including the risk factors due to my other health issues. I am happy to have Doctor Collins on board, as part of my team of Doctors.

Great telemedicine visit. The MyOchsner app is great all around, and offered a very high quality interface with my Doctor.

Friendly and efficient staff. Dr. Collins is always a pro and I rarely have to wait more that 5 minutes for him to come In the room. Always a good experience.

After my PSA rising fast over a short time my urologist recommended a prostate biopsy he does the biopsies just one day a week and was booked up for about 2 months.I was able to contact Dr. Collins and he was able to do it much sooner he did the biopsy and called me with the results and he found cancer.He also ordered a MRI with contrast.I highly recommend him.

My care under Dr. Sean Collins has been remarkable. Dr. Collins was highly recommended and I am so grateful for his experience in urology. On my first visit, I was impressed with his knowledge as he explained what my procedure would be by like. I did not feel as if I needed a second opinion. Although I was afraid of what he would find, I wanted him to do the surgery . I am so grateful with the results from the pathologist. Since the surgery,I have not experience pain as I thought that would. The care of the nursing staff in ICU, where I spent one night was also outstanding, caring,patient, professional and encouraging. They teased and called me a " rock star", because I was rockin' my recovery. That kind of encouragement was just what I needed. Thank you Dr. Collins to your entire team and hospital staff. I would certainly recommend Ochsner Baptist as the best hospital in N.O. I did experience only one negative staff person,but the professionalism displayed by all others who provided care to me, more than compensated for the lack of compassion shown by that one person. Dr Collins is a dangerous doctor; one whom should not be practicing. Not only did he lie about perceived symptoms, but only after getting the answer he wanted about a procedure, he made me sign a consent form under heavy sedation. He did not explain the procedures properly, and never once did he attempt to apologize or remedy the situation. Professional, explains things clearly, usually provides treatment options/choices, very well reputed, punctual, damn good at what he does.

Dr. Collins performed a right nephrectomy on me a few years ago. He is very personable yet professional. He explains everything thoroughly. He is an excellent surgeon with a great bedside manner!

Dr Collins operated on me to remove a kidney stone while I was 5 months pregnant. I was his first surgery with a pregnant woman. He did a great job! Highly recommend Dr. Collins!
