Sheila Dugan

Is doctor Dugan has been my physician this position for many many years. She is sweet and honest and thorough which I love. I couldn't ask for a better pain specialist especially what I have to go through every day.

More than once in my medical journey’s some specialist has told me ‘well, you are already seeing Dr. Dugan and she’s the best, so I can’t do better than that’. I didn’t see her for a couple of years and this was a mistake. In our first visit she told me ‘It probably doesn’t seem like it to you now, but you are lucky to have found me so soon’. It did not feel like that, and I was. She sometimes has an affect of going a mile a minute or cutting to the chase as if, in my imagination, a minute lost with me might end up being a minute that could have been spent with an additional person for whom the alternative might be no one. This could very well be true but I can see how that could be off-putting depending on context. I prefer to think of her as always having a somewhat dazed medical student in tow because it’s funnier that way. If there’s nothing she can do she is not going to say there is something she can do and that can be tough to deal with. Perhaps there is someone else who can. I hope so. But on a practical note if you are (in particular) a man who might be having pelvic floor issues you should start by seeing Dr. Dugan. Don’t wait. Additional props to Rush for not gendering the name of the pelvic health clinic. Words matter. She was very insightful and pointed me in the right direction as to cause of my symptoms. She is a legend among physical therapists for her knowledge.

Does not deserve one star.

Dr. Dugan is very knowledgeable specialist about pelvic pain. She spent time with me listening, explaining and caring. If you have any questions about medications and treatment she will return your emails which not to often happen when you dealing with other doctors). She has contact with your physiotherapist about your progress even she has a busy schedule (she is also a professor at Rush University). She smiles all of the time and leaves you with a better mood. This doctor is patronizing, condescending and rude. She gave up on me and told me that there was no hope for me. She refused to order treatment that was advised by other health care professionals. Do not waste your time going to her.

She was abrupt, dismissive of my pain, and completely missed my diagnosis, which I later learned from Mayo Clinic is nonrelaxing pelvic floor dysfunction causing rectal evacuation disorder. Instead of suggesting I see a GI specialist, she told me to go SWIMMING on a regular basis. I kid you not. She made me feel hopeless and helpless.

Love her, she is articulate, very conscientious loving and caring. A very good physician who knows the business. I would highly recommend her to anyone who has problems with their SI Joints or other. I plan to keep her for as long as I LIVE!!!

Dr. Dugan is really one of the best in this field. My case has been very stubborn and she had a variety of ideas for me to try. She had a good relationships with my therapist in the Western suburbs and they dialogued well about my condition. During the first visit, she spent around an hour with me and heard the very long history of my injury. Future visits were shorter but she often had an idea of something we could try to help me move further along. Thoughtful, intelligent, a good communicator, warm. I would highly recommend this Dr. Really professional and thorough.

Dr. Dugan did a thorough evaluation and asked a lot of questions to determine the source of pain and treatment for the pain. I would highly recommend her.

She is very professional, thoughtful, and a good listener. I've seen her for several different problems, and she has found ways to help relieve my pain and he'll my back.for referrals for physical therapy were all outstanding. When I had questions I was easily able to reach her. She explains things thoroughly and does not dumb it down.

I wish I was never referred to this provider and seen by her. I felt rushed, disrespected and hurt. First of all, during my first appointment she interrupted me halfway through telling my symptoms to start the exam. The procedure was painful and I asked her to be more careful but she didn't listen to my request either and exacerbated my injury as a result. She didn't give any particular instructions for treatment other than general physiotherapy and pain management. Her diagnose was, how to put it, waffling. During the follow up appointment she did not examine me and wrote in the paperwork that I have healed completely which was not true. This is downright lying. I had the same problem, just worse. Way overrated and seriously risky. I wish I was never referred to this provider and seen by her. I felt rushed, disrespected and hurt.
