I do NOT recommend Dr. Steffan. I saw him 2/3/2020 about foot surgery. I had X-rays done, went through all my pre-op testing (blood work, EKG, physical, etc.) and was supposed to have surgery 2/21/2020. That surgery got canceled due to a "mix up" in the operating room schedule. On 3/1/2020 Dr. Steffan went to Carilion. I called NUMEROUS times over the spring and summer and got one excuse after another (in training, not doing surgery, working on getting set up with Anthem, etc., etc.). I called and left messages that were never returned. I FINALLY got an appointment on 11/5/2020. Dr. Steffan didn't even know who I was. The X-rays apparently "disappeared" so they had to be retaken. I was told that I would be "next on the list" for surgery. Despite repeated phone calls I still have no appointment. Update on 12/4/2020: It has now been 29 days and the surgery scheduler STILL hasn't contacted me. No responses from anyone at the office. I have spent money on office visits, X-rays, blood work, etc. and have gotten nothing. Completely unacceptable. Don't waste your time like I did. I do NOT recommend Dr. Steffan. Tried to get my records this month even though they were back from 2002 and they were destroyed. I had surgery done for bone spurs in my heels and he did surgery on both of my big toes (he removed part of the bone on both). I can no longer bend my toes and have occasional pain in both of the toes. I should have done something then when it all happened but I guess I was young and dumb back then. I hate that I can't get my records and go see another podiatrist. Watch out when having him do surgery on you. I wouldn't even give him a one star but you are required to give at least that. THE OFFICE PERSONNEL WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. DR. STEFFAN MADE ME FEEL RELAXED AND HE EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND THE PROCEDURE VERY CLEARLY. VERY PATIENT AND ACKNOWLEDGEABLE.

Dr Stephan seemed always in a rush. He didn’t like you to ask questions. He wanted to amputate my little toe based on an X-ray showing infection in my bone. He had earlier told me that X-ray showed the infection was not in my bone. I switched to Shenandoah podiatry. Dr Hoffman is very nice, & has time to answer questions. She took three xrays, said the infection was close to the bone, and proposed a more conservative treatment first. I still have my toe, and it is almost healed up. Dr Stephan seemed always in a rush. Went in with pain in toes on left foot he looked at them said I had bones spurs set it up to remove found out when the bill came in he had dine 1 I think bone spur & Hammertoe on the other toe never said a word to me about it My foot hurts worse now then ever he never even took an x-ray changed the consent form I WOULD HAVE NEVER NEVER DONE this H.toe thing if I would have know My toes are not straight but they are not raised like hammer toe He likes to use shots a lot and lied about what it is

He is a very friendly physician and takes the time to explain your condition and what action he needs to take. I saw him for issues with plantars warts and he did a great job.
