My Insurance health advocate directed me to Dr. Poertner after I had gone to a dr. a co-worker had recommended. That dr. left me feeling scared and feeling like I was on the verge of death after incorrectly billing me twice and her accounting office refusing to speak to me. Yes, I did have to wait 4 months to get in to see him. But once I got in and he took the time to review my lab results in a calm way that explained I wasn't going to die next week, and didn't use scare tactics we were able to discuss other issues regarding my health. We started a plan and with his help I have actually dropped close to 80lbs. Its not always easy to meet, I recall a time we wound up cancelling a few appts at around the same time. I became a grandma within the same time he became a Dad. I love his staff they have always taken very good care of me. When I needed physical forms filled out they took the time to get them done even last minute. I appreciate the time and concern shown. Trust me he is one of the Drs that still cares.

I called Dr. Poertner's office to see about becoming a new patient (due to the fact Aetna's Provider Listing stated he was). Upon finally getting thru to someone (after on hold for 10 minutes with no music or anything to let me know I actually was on hold), I was advised the doctor was accepting new patients, however, the earliest he could see me (due to the fact I would be a new patient would be 6 months later). So, in actuality, he is NOT accepting new patients at the moment (if you need to see him before 6 months).

I love Dr Poertner. Was very skeptical at first because of the recommendation from my provider. He is a free spirit person with pure compassion for his patients and will not rush you because of the time. Great listener and he deliver solutions best for your overall health. Once you adjust to him, he seems as if you have made a friend instead of a doctor. He makes you feel comfortable in his office and has a very attentive staff. I love this doctor and glad I took the leap and didn't change the recommendation. He really cares about his patients.

Very caring, down to earth, explains things clearly. Very honest and quick to reply.

Highly professional. This was my first visit and he made me feel relaxed, he took his time to go over my health record and order some test and he answered all my questions. Much better then my last Primary Care.

He canceled 2 appointments with me at the last minute. Canceled the day of the appointments. I arranged my schedule at cost to me and my family to accommodate his lack of availability, and this is how I get treated by him? Terrible.

Extremely disappointed!!! I found the Dr. Did not have knowledge of Lyme disease & autoimmune disorders. He tried to tell me I was probably depressed because something bad had happened to me in my passed & that is causing my pain. I have longterm Lyme disease (joint pain) from being bitten in Lyme Connecticut. I have been treated by Infectious disease drs & rheumatologists for Lyme. This dr was clueless. What a giant waste of my time.

Dr.is Wonderful he cares.

Took time to listen and really understand my medical history. Changed one of my meds - ordered lab work. Was very thorough!

Gave instructions and information not backed by studies. In fact I could only find studies to support the opposite of what he has said to me. Very hot and cold. Terrible bedside manor. Belittling to patients. If you’re overweight at all you will be berated.

Highly professional, knowlegeable Doctor with a warm and relaxed personality. He takes his time and really listens to you, explains what he thinks and discusses the situation with you. Easily the best Primary Care MD Ive ever had.
