Dr. Thau is knowledgeable and creative in seeking solutions, he has a lovely, compassionate manner, and helpful office staff.

This is a review of the people and process of getting to see Dr. Thau, not a review of the care or services I received from Dr. Thau. I had an appointment but never saw Dr. Thau, as my appointment was consumed by the Northwell behemoth process. I received phone calls, texts and emails in the days leading up to my appointment to remind me of the date and time of the appointment, with the warning that a no-show would result in a $50 charge. I arrived at 8:15 for an 8:30 appointment, but there was no one at the desk and I could hear the other staff calling someone to say that neither a front desk person nor the doctor were in the office. At 8:40, when a staff member arrived, i was told that we needed to do the "paperwork." I asked if the doctor was in the office and, if not, when he would arrive and i was told that he was neither in the office and the time of his arrival was unknown. This is the result of the Northwell "process," dunning and prodding you, but not connecting with the doctor's office or the doctor to notify them of an appointment. Dr Steven Thau has been my doctor since 2017. He is by far the best Doctor Dr Thau has amazing expertise in his field of Pulmonary and beyond There’s is story here. Dr Thau saved my life. When I first went to Dr Thau. I was looking through Doctors. I came Accross Dr Steven Thau and said this is the Doctor for me. He has such a kind face I made an appointment and met him. I knew again I was in the right place with the right Doctor. Long story short Dr Thau said to me Brenda We are going to make you better. Well it was an understatement. Yes I am 80% better than I was 4 years ago Mind you I was knocking on Deaths door Dr Thau is still and will always be my doctor I know at times I give him a hard time lol But we laugh. Thank you Dr Thau for saving my life but loving me when I wasn’t able to love myself. And Cindy Dr Thau personal right hand nurse is the very best in my eyes also I Thank you both for being in my life And I mean this with all my Heart Best Regards Brenda

Very caring doctor. Listens to you not like other doctors. He takes his time to get to the issue and try’s to make you feel better.

Last year (2016) I was referred to Dr. Thau for a sleep study. I’m afraid to say that my experience working with Dr. Thau and his team was exceedingly disappointing. From an administrative point of view it was shambolic, and the technical understanding of the equipment that I had to use from the person whose job it was to explain to me how to use it was questionable at best. When I tried to use the provided equipment at home it failed, but when I sent a letter to Dr Thau’s office indicating that a) it had failed, and b) their administrative process meant that I couldn’t try again, they completely ignored my letter. A second letter, sent five days later, was similarly ignored. Suffice to say that I will not use Dr. Thau’s practice again, and if asked I will recommend to others that they do the same. Excellent and caring specialist.

Dr.Thau is a very compassionate, knowledgeable and thorough physician. There are no words to describe how thankful we are for the extraordinary care he provides for my father.

I found Dr. Thau to be very competent. He's kind, compassionate, intelligent, and most important, he's personable and has a sense of humor. Since moving to Phelps Hospital from Stamford Medical Group in May, the wait time has been reduced and the staff is more attentive. I'm glad I made the decision to follow him to Phelps, a 30 minute drive from my home (the office in Greenwich where I previously saw him was a 3 m minute drive) I found Dr. Thau to be very competent. He's kind, compassionate, intelligent, and most important, he's personable and has a sense of humor. I thought Dr. Thau was very attentive to my problem and his nurse was tops.
