Terence Peter Doorly

Dr. Doorly has a wonderful bedside manner, which makes a huge difference when you're scared and in pain. He spent time with me after my surgery to make sure I was OK, and his nursing staff was also wonderful. The day after my microdisectomy, my sciatic pain had disappeared. I couldn't be happier with the outcome!

With Dr. Doorly’s surgical skills, along with years of therapy, I learned to walk again, despite my Cauda Equina Syndrome. This 1/1,000,000 injury needs immediate treatment in order to fully recover. Dr. Doorly was equally caring, kind, and spent a lot of time explaining how I should plan to live with my injury. He visited often in the hospital and he and his team were always available for advice and treatment. Ten years later I needed another surgery, and again, he carefully walked me through what to expect (complete with pain management drawings), and he led me through recovery. He was encouraging, thorough, empathetic and his knowledge made me know I was in excellent hands.

After months of suffering with severe back pain and going to other doctors, a friend suggested Dr.Doorly. I sent my MRI to his office and they called that afternoon with an appointment. He performed my surgery and right after had no pain at all..gone! He explained everything to me before in detail and had a great bedside manner after. I went home the same day. This Doctor is very arrogant, not friendly at all, lacks common sense for older person in pain, very messy not prepared for the appointments never calls back took my mom in made her wait in pain until he was done talking Not impressed at all . I do not recommend this Doctor at all do your research first never gotten a excellent rating. Their are better Doctors who care about your family members well being.

I had been with this practice since 2009-2010. My first surgery was in 2011. Second surgery in 2017. Since Thanksgiving 2018 I started with lots of pain in my neck. Had 2 MRI’s in January both during ER visits. I have a herniated disc at C 4/5. I had called the office to set up a time to go in and look over my MRI. I was called at home by the Secretary saying the Dr. does not have anything surgical to offer you and then she gave me 2 phone numbers for MGH and B&W saying the Dr. said to call either for a second opinion. I was shocked at first and then furious. First of all a “Secretary” is not a clinician. It’s not their job to to be telling a Patient this information especially when this patient (me) has been there for so many years. Definitely no bedside manner from either Surgeon as I have talked to both on the phone and they acted as if I was bothering them. Here I am in excruciating pain and was completely dismissed of my pain and disrespected as well. Completely UNACCEPTABLE!!! He is my mom's surgeon and is amazing. He gives all options, explains everything and is reachable. His office staff is just as good!!

I've been seeing dr doorly since 2010 had surgery in 2011 on my nerve bundle in my neck can't see where the incision is and feel better he takes time to explain everything and answer any questions you may have so wait time is long but he takes the time with every patient. He's a great dr i still see him and margaret in his pain clinic for other nerve problems i wouldn't go to anyone else. I can't say enough about Dr. Doorly and his staff. He's an amazing surgeon. My husband suffered for 6 months with back/nerve pain. Dr. Doorly performed surgery and I now have my husband back. He was very good about explaining the procedure and answering all our concerns. He performed 5 surgeries that day and still made time to visit us before leaving the hospital. Dr. Doorly did my L4-5 laminectomy discectomy almost a month ago. Long story short I suffered back pain for years until recently leg pain in both legs and back pain before I met Dr. Doorly. He spent several consultations with me and phone calls because “I” wasn’t ready to have surgery yet. I took 2 MRIs in a 3 month span and the nerve was getting more and more compressed which meant permanent nerve damage. Best question he asked me was “what are you waiting for?” I proceeded with surgery and as soon as I woke up from surgery I FELT NO PAIN!! Leg pain GONE, back pain GONE! Dr. Doorly thank you so much!! If you are so lucky to have him as your surgeon just know he is THE BEST, his beside manner is amazing, his personality, he’s hilarious, professional and very educated, I highly recommend him and his entire staff. Thank you all again for everything and giving me my life back. I am forever grateful and love you all from the bottom of me heart.

He told me I was fine , I got a second opinion and needed emergency surgery. Very poor bedside manner... A HACK!!!!!

I was referred here to consult about a possible surgery , the Dr that saw me was very specific explaining her point of view, good place, nice people! ????????

After having much reduced strength in my arm due to a damaged cervical disc, I was sent to a rehabilitation facility which was unable to get my full mobility back. It was recommended that Disc replacement be performed. I had the surgery and Immediately felt a difference. Dr. Doorly did a Great Job!

Attended a shared consultation and found it to be excellent. Dr. Doorly was able to address all of my concerns and issues in this setting. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable, patient and through. Very happy to be in his care.

Straight to the point and thorough. My entire experience from start to finish exceeded my expectations and I have very high standards. if you are fortunate enough to have this man as you're neurosurgeon. Excellence is a word I rarely use to describe, in this case, it's barely enough to express my gratitude to Dr Doorly.
