Thomas Doohan

Normally, my interactions with Dr. Doohan have been great! This Physician is smart and effective, but alas, sometimes he doesn't listen! I had a horrible car wreck and this doctor wouldn't provide other alternatives for pain management despite asking for other options. His appalling statement of "This is not a negotiation for opioids" was simply inappropriate! Firstly, I don't use opiods unless its an emergency which this certainly appeared to be. 4 cuts, 2 bruises, and intense tension on the upper trapezius. Secondly, I was seeking ANY treatment for the distress. I didn't care what it was so long as the therapy was effective! I relocated to get better pain management (Non-opioid mind you) and to avoid a preconceived notion/bias which this physician clearly displayed. After seeking care from another Physician, his thought process was the exact same as Dr. Doohan's, yet, this doctor actually worked with me to find other alternatives to my suffering and didn't have a set bias. Mind you, this doctor has seen me just as many times as Dr. Doohan and I asked the exact same questions/requests beforehand. Yet the outcome was different and satisfactory. Dr. Doohan most certainly could have easily done the same if he had just been focused on treating the pain and simply stating what he could not or wasn't able/comfortable doing. Other treatment options should have been discussed, such as Lidocaine or additional Acetaminophen. These were used after transferring to another facility. This Physician abandoned me at one of the darkest moments of my life and failed address the main concern. Just walked away with limited thinking and a preconceived notion. Absolutely Detestable! Maybe go see other ER docs, maybe they'll hear you during your own crisis! Otherwise, if no miscommunication occurs, he normally is a great Physician. Dr. Doohan is the best. He helped my dad when he had chest pain. He was so kind, helpful and took such great care of my father when he had a heart blockage!

Visited the ED after I was assaulted. I described exactly what happened, feeling afraid. Dr. Doohan had an assistant of some sort in the room. I presume this person was taking notes. Unable to bear looking at my notes online for months, I finally read them. I realized there were several inaccuracies in what I told Dr. Doohan. Following the proper procedures, I contacted the health records department. I did exactly what I was told by writing a statement of disagreement. Dr. Doohan rejected this statement insisting this visit happened too long ago for him to remember but he stands by what he wrote. How could it be too long for him to remember, but he also stands by his notes? I was assaulted and have to relive the events daily. I said this in my second letter of disagreement. He again refused to correct his documentation. I was promised my letters would become part of my health record. I just checked, no letters. DO NOT trust this doctor or Atrium to report your statements accurately.
