Delicate surgery that took a good 8 hours and did a miraculous job

Dr. Gleason is THE BEST cardiothoracic surgeon in the area. He was able to do a minimally invasive mitral valve repair. This is an OPEN HEART SURGERY and he was able to do it with no more than a 3 inch incision under my armpit. I have dreaded this day for years thinking I would have to get a sternotomy, cracking my chest open and leaving me with a huge scar. Look no further, Dr. Gleason is a very straight forward surgeon. He and his staff of physician assistants did an amazing job with my husband. My husband had an aortic aneurysm and Dr. Gleason went in and replaced his aorta and aortic valve. Some reviews express he has no bedside manner, in my opinion, the skills he brings to the table and the amazing outcomes, far outweigh bedside manner. If you need bedside manner, he is surrounded by an excellent team of physician assistants. I highly recommend this surgeon and I am grateful for his surgical abilities!

BEWARE!!! RUN AWAY! My mother went into what was to be a 3 hour surgery turned into 10 hours. After the surgery she went into cardiac arrest and DIED. He ran into complications during the surgery and should have stopped but he did not. He NEVER even closed her up! I would ask him how many patients he operated on died on the table. RUN AWAY!!!! Find someone else. If I could leave zero stars it would be too many! I miss my mom...broken hearted

Dr. Gleason is very straight forward. He is very confident in himself and his staff. My mother had an aneurysm repair. He and his staff were excellent!

No bedside manner, lack of empathy for patient/family. Told one kind of surgery &then found out they did different surgery, we would of went for second opinion & this was 2 different visits of being told of same surgery we thought she was having &different people at the each visit who heard the same thing to find out after her surgery it was different. UPMC Shadyside ICU filthy, nurses unattentive except checkin Janna/Colleen nights. 3rd flr nurses awesome-like we went from hell to Heaven.

Look no further, this doctor/surgeon is the best out there. I had quadruple bypass 4 years ago with no problems. I just had a AVR, done on Friday afternoon and released on Monday that's right, 3 days later. Now,. 3 weeks post, all my incisions are healed and I am driving local. I have had zero problems. This man is a skilled surgeon and I respect his suggestions. Trust... This is the guy!

I am writing this on behalf of my 87 year mother who had aortic valve replacement and coronary artery bypass graft in early March 2017. He is an impressive surgeon with outstanding skills. I highly recommend him and the preliminary staff who were efficient. She did remarkably well and is feeling great. And, yes, I DO recommend him to many others.

No bedside manor, very inconsiderate of patient needs. Lacks empathy and compassion for the patient as well as family members. I would not undermine his knowledge or surgical capabilities but would never recommend him to any friends orfamily members.

Five stars is woefully short. If you are looking for an extremely capable surgeon, look no further. This is who you want holding your heart when it counts the most. I am barely two weeks out from a very complex, multi dimensional heart proceedure. I'm 62. I feel great. I expect to return my full, robust lifestyle on, or ahead of schedule.

Doctor Gleason is an excellent surgeon. I had a tricky aeortic repair surgery and I am grateful for his handiwork.
