She failed to obtain informed consent by leaving the POAs out of the conversation before providing my mentally compromised father with drugs that make him sick while in hospice care, and provided medicine without even collecting information on what medicines he had been taking. She didn’t even know he had a fentanyl patch on, or that he wasn’t already in morphine, or that opiates make him sick without nausea meds. A totally unavoidable mistake that wouldn’t have occurred if she hadn’t asked the POAs to leave the room, and then give him stuff before filling us in. We also advised her that a urologist had confirmed she should stop trying to induce defecation because it was causing spasms. As the POA and son I requested her follow this advice, which she ignored and caused him to be in pain all weekend from spasming when she is supposed to be providing comfort care. She just visibly dug her heels in when I had a different opinion due to her ego. I’ll equipped for hospice or medicine.
