Excellent service

Perhaps it was because it was just the start of the pandemic, but the Dr didn't physically exam me, barely came within 10 feet of me, and spent a total of about 3 minutes with me. I was there with complaints of carpal tunnel syndrome, and he ordered an EEG. When he was walking me out I asked if when the results come in if he could write a letter for my SSI appeal explaining the results. He practically cut me off stating "I am not your SSI doctor, I don't do anything with SSI!" I said I understand, I was only asking if you could put the test results in a letter for a layman to understand, and he said. No. So that's it. My review is based on the short visit, the way he spoke to me, and when the test results came in, he didn't even bother to take the time to give and explain them to me. I hope i don't ever have to go back to him. I must add that the person who came in and did the EEG, was very nice, and caring, unfortunately I cannot remember his name ????. I'm shocked reading some of these reviews. I've been a patient for about 7 years for ongoing neurological issues and find Dr. Shanmugam competent and respectful. From a personality perspective, he's not the warmest doctor, but I've never found him rude. I enjoy our visits and I've never had an issue getting medication refills. I just make sure I communicate my desires openly with him and listen respectfully to him. He is, after all, the medial professional.

Probably one of the worst neurologist I've ever had. God forbid you catch an appointment around his lunch time and he comes in burping in your face while reading your test results. I was pre diagnosed in another state and he belittled everything my previous doctor had told me. By far my worst experience with any doctor I've ever had and I highly recommend that you find an alternative before considering going to see Dr. Shanmugam. Probably one of the worst neurologist I’ve ever seen, he’s rude and you don’t accept the answer he has given you and ask for more test to be done he blames whatever symptoms you have on stress and anxiety!! When I went into his office I was referred to him by 2 different hospitals and my primary care for symptoms of MS but since my MRI of the brain was clear he blew me off and told me it was all phycological ,I’ve never in my life hear of gait or trouble swallowing,vision issues, amoung other symptoms being due to to psychological issues !!!! I’ve never had psychological issues in my life! Thanks for the “help” “DR”

I found him to be very forthright and honest. My husband needs a second test by someone who comes from out of town with the equipment. It’s been a month and we have not heard back.

Probably one of the worst doctors Ive had. He usually spends about 1 or 2 minutes total with me. Other patients he will spend 10 min with. His only response to my issues "you had a brain injury", so he doesn't bother to help since that is his diagnosis. Memory issues, "well they don't make a memory pill" I'm stuck with him due to my insurance, but If you can avoid do so.

Dr Shanmugam is very optimistic and handles patients with atmost care he is an excellent doctor

I was greeted in a clean and comfortable waiting room by two friendly and professional receptionists. I was seen very promptly by the doctor, who promised to read my entire (extensive) history of documents before my next appointment. The Dr. spent the time it took to listen to me and take care of my needs, and was knowledgeable and helpful.

Dr. Shanmugam is more understanding than most doctors I have seen and most of all practical. He listened to my concerns and tailored treatment to my lifestyle very well. His staff is prompt with phone calls and are always nice and helpful. My prescriptions are ALWAYS on time after about 2 years of going every single month.

Had an appointment earlier today with Dr shanmugam. I found him very professional and thorough. I waited less than 10 minutes and found his staff caring and helpful.

I had to give one star to post but I actually give no stars!!! His staff is incompetent and despite what you tell him he insists everything is just stress. If it doesn't show on an MRI then it must be stress. Most of my stress came from continually telling him I wasn't stressed. Then I changed insurance and although he shows up on my network as a preferred provider his staff says they don't take my insurance. When I called to see if they did for a test my wife needs, (I had to leave a message) they called back to say yes they took my insurance so I had my wife's DR fax the orders for the test then they called the DR back and said they don't accept my insurance. His staff obviously doesn't know or can't decide which insurance they accept. I had to give one star to post but I actually give no stars!!! Very good and is the best, he found out what was wrong with my husband on the first visit!

The office staff treated me better than this doctor. Sent by referral due to surgery complications. The man was negative during my visit. I should have walked out. Continued to out talk me and my husband. No wonder Care 1st dropped him. Very arrogant and non helpful. So sad.

This Dr is super inconsiderate. He let me keep my appointment to see him, only to tell me that he no longer accepts my insurance (care 1st) very unprofessional. He has had me waiting and giving me the run around on authorization for meds. for 3 months. So dissapointed and angry with Dr Shanmugam!

Didn't even talk with him about anything. Had an MRI done and he didn't even take out the xrays to discuss the results. I think he could have taken care of me better then that. He basically just shoved me out the door. Didn't even discuss the Medicine he prescribed me and what its even for. Hopefully he will call me back and do a better job. I'm starting to look for a different Dr.

Dr. Shanmugam tries to tackle problems with lifestyle changes and medication. He is very thorough, patient, and accommodating.

This is Jim Crosby, Julie is my wife! My experience at this Dr's office completely "SUCKED" & I am understating. I never saw the dude, but he saw me! His staff is so incompetent it is a joke! In my many experiences with Dr, office I have usually found, the Dr is only as good as his staff ! They already had my insurance information prior to my visit! And to boot...they DONT take cash! Dr. Shanmugam was very respectful, very kind and acts like he cares about his patients. He ordered tests and explained the purposes to me. His office staff is very helpful and friendly. I have no complaints with this great doctor or his staff.

My husband had been suffering for 7 days with the worst migraine one can imagine. Went to Palmdale ER twice in three days and on one visit my husband had a lumbar puncture as apart of his examination. Nothing was indicated through the ER visits so we left with no answers. THe day following lumbar puncture my husband was worse than before and we spoke to our primary care physician who referred us to Dr. Shanmugam who was totally booked and we could not see him for two weeks. We almost lost hope when his office called and had an 8 o'clock opening the next morning. He was very warm and compassionate towards my husband. He was quick to figure out that perhaps the lumbar puncture was leaking CSF. He spend several minutes calling Drs. who could do the blood patch work that needed to be done to fix my husband's problem. My husband met with the pain Dr. immediately thanks to Dr. Shanmugam's phone call and my husband had the needed procedure two hours later at the surgery center. Headache is finally gone. I can't believe the people that say Shanmugam isn't great. I have had migranes for 23 years, I went to him twice and he figured out the problem. I had been going to UCLA for three years and they couldn't fix the problem. I feel like I have my life back, thanks to Dr. Shanmugam.
