Good Dr he will give you what New Mexico Doctors won’t been there twice and will go back
He delivered my first daughter and will be delivering my son. He’s so informative and very well with his patients. He has my complete trust and I drive a hour and a half for me to be seen he gets me in and out. Sometimes wait is a little long but I don’t mind !
My family moved to Hobbs in July. I was 6 months pregnant when I transferred to Dr. Parkey. My first visit wasn't the greatest. The waiting room was packed, I waited 2 hours to see him, and felt rushed. My visits following were the complete opposite. I didn't wait as long and Dr. Parkey listened as I shared my biggest concern. Dr. Parkey was aware that I hemorrhaged during my first delivery. He reassured me that I would not experience what I had the first time. He and the nursing staff took this very seriously and had a trauma kit ready during my delivery incase of an emergency. Thankfully we didn't need it. My hospital experience was beyond amazing. All of the nurses were the best. Dr. Parkey makes sure every family enjoys a nice dinner before they leave. We were served a delicious steak lunch the day we were discharged. We also went home with a new carseat!!! All in all my experience was amazing. I would definitely recommend Dr. Parkey to anyone. Do not get discouraged if you have to wait to see him. He is worth the wait! My family moved to Hobbs in July. I was 6 months pregnant when I transferred to Dr. Parkey. I moved to Hobbs, New Mexico from San Antonio, Texas & I was quite nervous having to look for a new Dr being i was 34 weeks pregnant. Dr Parkey made the transition pretty smooth and easy and was comforting. He made me feel comfortable with his bedside manners. His office is pretty busy which is understandable considering he is general dr and being the chief of hospital comes unexpected meetings and critical patients. When you have a good Dr that cares about your health, the wait time doesnt matter. Dr.Parkey and his staff are very informative and professional. The front desk is always very nice and quick to help. The wait is not too bad considering he sees a lot of patients from NM as well. He is very kind and to the point, which I enjoy. He was able to help me get a new OBGYN in Lubbock so that I could have a VBAC. The transition was very smooth, however I was sad it wasn’t with him for my last few weeks. The postpartum check up six weeks later was informative, smooth, and a great experience. Special thanks to the nurse Judy, she was always so helpful with paperwork that I needed for maternity leave and notes for work. Dr.Parkey is like that really smart uncle you never had and you wish you did. He makes you feel very comfortable and not nervous. 2 hours in the waiting room and another hour plus in the exam room. Would not recommend to anyone. Drive out of town to a different doctor. You’ll be back in town before they would have gotten to you in this office.
The Doctor hisself is awesome! But the wait is ridiculously long. We are considering going somewhere else!

Dr. Parked and his staff are very conscientious! They make you feel very comfortable and at ease. My 84 year old mother loves him. He listens!
Dr. Parkey has delivered both of my babies. My first almost 10 years ago, my second just a few months ago. Both experiences were wonderful. I have always felt safe, heard, and cared for. He is goofy and down to earth which is so fun whenever you catch him whenever he isn’t as busy, but very knowledgeable and experienced! He is a very in-demand doctor so yes sometimes there is a long wait but i wouldn’t compromise quality for quick visits. Also, the nurses in labor/delivery are SO incredible and are extremely attentive to your needs. They are truly the best of the best. I have nothing but good things to say whenever i tell people about my doctor and am proud to recommend him to anyone! Dr. Parkey has delivered both of my babies. He’s the worst doctor we’ve been with. He mistreated my wife and didn’t wanted to do the sonogram so she could hear the baby’s heartbeat, at the end he did the sonogram but in a rude manner he put a lot of pressure on my wife’s belly, and told my wife if you don’t like it you can go get another doctor I don’t care. I definitely don’t recommend him to no one at all. Totally unprofessional. He’s the worst doctor we’ve been with. Parkey has always been super generous and very helpful to all of us! I'm glad to know him he is a superb doctor and friend!!
To the Loyd Mathews review. Im looking up this Dr. And looking at reviews. I live out of state and have no affiliation to this man, but I just want to tell you that according to what you're saying, your child didnt show positive for bacterial infection, (if they did infact send a culture to the lab) in lubbock, because the baby was given antibiotics in the office . So because of that there is no real way of knowing if there was or was not a bacterial infection. It is called treating prophylactically when the benefit out weighs the risk. As it did in your case. Your baby had not yet had a risk of building an immunity to antibiotics because of the age its highly unlikely they ever even had any for that matter. So better if it can be caught and treated, before a worsening condition, to do so. The statement of not following through with the prescribed treatment only means if it were bacterial, you risked your child having what is called a super infection, from starting and not finishing antibiotics. The loading dose being in the office. To be upset that someone with decades of experience can use their clinical skill set along with the knowledge that a parent knows their child best, he listened to what you had to say about your child's condition, and be frustrated at him saying you are not a Dr. Then turn around and make such a critical medical decision especially clearly not knowing the risks of that choice you made.. and acting as "Dr." On your own anyway.... is contradicting to say the very minimal, let alone how this very post states he could have killed your baby ...yet that decision alone on a newborn immune system could had been truly detrimental to the babys life and for all you know is exactly what happened for things to spiral the way they did. These are medical facts. Not opinion. Hes not just sitting there going ope okay if you say so...here ya go! .... no, its called subjective information- a dr who actually listens to the person spending the most time w the patient in the first place. Combined with his clinical skill set-observation- and hearing on his own what he did hear, and weighing in the benefits vs the risks. It was more beneficial to at least try the antibiotics because strictly a virus is worse. Nothing to do but treat symptoms and hope baby responds well. Its up to you to pay close attention to the follow up directions including come in right away if symptoms worsen. If what you were seeing was early start of a virus then regardless with vitals in order and you yourself didnt see an emergency that day, or baby would had been on E.R., baby would had been sent home with orders of watching closely and returning immediately if symptoms worsen. Its worse to assume steroids are needed and give that just in case, cuz then babys system can be further weakened. Seems like the only one putting anyone at risk in all that was you! Also, Why go to the Dr. For a cold that you feel is a virus, if youre gonna bash him for possibly willing to help you find relief by being treated prophylactically in case it was in fact bacterial, so what exactly did you go in for? Or why ddint you let it be known you werent comfortable w antibiotics without a culture? Or in lamen terms- if you didnt really need them. He was just trying to help you find relief while pregnant. Seems like you had an opinion already formed and just knew he was all wrong from the beginning and still continued to go. If you didnt trust him you should have sought out other care to begin with. Because with you not trusting him left room for you to play Dr and not give your child the rest of the prescribed medication she already started and put more risk than anything in the whole situation. Pregnancy and all. Glad your babys okay. This isn't to bash you. This is so other parents also see the risks in what was done here yet blaming the physician. I wouldn't be surprised if in that state youd get charged with neglect (i dont agree that to be true ive been on your side too thinking i know) you had no idea what was or wasnt when you didn't follow through... Such an amazing doctor and staff! Love this place. Dr. Parkey is always in a good mood and makes you feel like family. He is a very busy doctor and the wait time is kinda longer than I would like and that’s with an appointment set but I believe it is worth the wait. We are expecting our 5th child and Dr. Parkey is very professional and caring. The hospital is very nice since it’s been updated. I would highly recommend Dr. Parkey to any new expecting mother’s! He could’ve killed my daughter! I took her in for her newborn checkup. She was congested and breathing fast! I expressed my major concerns and he “checked” her out very quickly- taking no time to even listen to her lungs! He said babies are stronger than we think! And proceeded to prescribe her antibiotics. I asked why he was prescribing her antibiotics!? And he said because you said she sounded congested!! Oh so I’m the doctor now!?? He gave her a rocephin shot and then I picked up the prescription but did not give it to her- she was a week old and I had no idea what we were treating! She continued to get worse! A day later I drove 3 hours to Lubbock TX! When we got there her oxygen says were in the 60%s and her breathing rate was in the 80s! She had RSV! A virus! Not bacterial! Those antibiotics would’ve done nothing for her! And when we got to Lubbock she was crashing!! He is so quick to prescribe antibiotics! I would caution against this! We were just a number to him! He doesn’t care to be the Dr and figure out what is wrong!! I was even thinking about switching during my prenatal care but I was so far along and it was the most horrible birth I had ever given! He made me push for an hour before he would help! He said it was TX law- come to find out- it’s not! During my prenatal care he would prescribe me antibiotics for a cold... again- a virus! So I wouldn’t take them! The only reason I took my daughter to him for the newborn checkup was to get the 2nd blood test to submit to the state! She just happened to be sick and I regret ever having him as a doctor!! He could’ve killed my daughter! I took her in for her newborn checkup. She was congested and breathing fast! Very nice staff and doctor himself was very sweet however it didn't matter what day of the week it was, it was very rare if anyone answered my call , I can't speak for anyone else but mine in particular was to be called back by leaving a voicemail it was worrisome due to the fact I am not familiar with all medicines due to them having different names and was prescribed medicines that I informed him and staff of from the get go to prevent bad reactions and failed to verify medication in my records twice and reacted to both very badly during my pregnancy . This summarizes only a few of my complaints but this was my experience. I absolutely love dr. Parkey. This was my 4th baby n he absolutely made it the best n most amazing experience and he truely does treat his patience as family! I will never change dr. He is a great amazing fabulous man /dr. Thank u dr. Parkey
Dr. Parkey goes above and beyond to make sure you receive the care you need. He delivered my daughter and I continue to see him because of the great care he provides. His staff is very friendly and they make you feel very welcomed. Seminole Memorial Hospital is by far one of the best in the area.
Love Dr. Parkey! He has always done everything in his power to make me comfortable, and follow birth plan. Staff is always friendly, and facility is always clean. :) wouldnt have any other doctor deliver my second child.
Dr. Parkey and his staff are amazing. He’s always given my family and myself the best care. These people feel more like family than just a doctors office. If you’re looking for a family doctor or someone to deliver your baby, Dr. Parkey and his staff will take excellent care of you. Highly recommend!
I felt like a number instead of a patient. My little girl was 8 days old and we went in for her newborn appt and she was congested & having retractions! He said the retractions were normal and her lungs were clear! (He took 2 seconds listening to her lungs!) he gave her a shot of Rocephin & prescribed Keflex without testing her for anything! I didn’t give the Keflex! 2 days later she was admitted to a hospital in Lubbock for RSV! She is looking at a week in the hospital because she is so sick!
I called a few minutes ago and whoever the lady is that answers the phone on weekends is very rude. She needs to go somewhere else if she doesn't like her job or can't answer questions without having an attitude.
