Dr Heisel has been my doctor for over 10 years. He gives the best medical care. He actually remembers me when I comes in.

Our family is beyond impressed with Dr. William Heisel. We had moved here, after seeing a wonderful pediatrician in Muncie, so our expectations were high. Dr. Heisel has gone above and beyond, and exceeded those expectations. I always feel very comfortable during the appointments with my children. My husband and I are very aware of how intelligent he is, although he has always made us feel like an equal in the decisions, which has built our trust even more. He always makes us feel that our questions and concerns are important and we never feel rushed during the appointments. Got stuck with this pathetic excuse of dr when my over 20 yr dr retired. First apt over 2hrs, he walked in said my asthma and pain out of control he knew nothing about me,or those issues! Baleen Disregard of diagnoses of previous dr of 20yr, turned diagnoses into what he thought should be took away all anxiety meds then started on pain meds, pain meds apt used for a total exam everytime told me no I could not go to pain mgmt. i had that overridden looks down at floor when he speaks to you

Transferred to Dr. Heisel after our long time Doctor retired. Dr. Heisel is very knowledgeable and takes as long as needed to discuss our concerns. I would highly recommend him. He has asked questions no other Dr. has every ask then explained way. He has also enlightened us on subjects we were not aware of.

WE were assigned Dr. Heisel after current doctor retired. Not what we were used to. Asked a lot of questions that were sensitive and not appropriate. Went on about birth control for 10 minutes at age 45.

This doctor is the very best listener of probably any doctor in the Indianapolis area. He is super smart, and thinks of things that other docs may not. He is thorough but does not subject his patients to unnecessary and costly tests unless he feels they are truly needed. The office is very organized and because Dr. Heisel is new to IU (he worked through the Community Health Network for years), it is not too difficult to get in to see him. It's a bonus that Dr. Heisel was an ER doctor for many years. I first met Dr. Heisel years ago when I took my grandmother to see him after a referral from an ER doc after she had been admitted into the hospital. I was so impressed that over the years I have moved my entire family (and several friends) into his practice. Another bonus is that this office has walk-in Saturday hours. He is a compassionate physician! He takes the time to figure out what is wrong and had the knowledge to help you correct it. I've visited many places working as a nurse and being a patient, he is the best!

Dr. Heisel leaves me alone in the exam room several times a visit, for several minutes at a time, making my appointments take well over an hour. I have called and asked the staff to put things in my chart to discuss with him and he didn't even mention them to me. I forgot about them because he kept leaving the exam room and I'd been there 90 minutes and had to leave for work, which was why I called in to get them on my chart in the first place. He doesn't listen very well, and he ties every issue to my weight, even problems I was having 120 lbs. ago. I had an allergic reaction to chemo and the rash was spreading up my legs. He said stop using hydrocortisone because I was spreading folliculitis up my legs. It was a RASH. Another time he gave me some internet material on an eye disease and referred me to some specialist. I took my contact out and soaked it and I was FINE. Most recently, he didn't pack an infected abscess he had lanced so the infection could drain OUT. I developed a fever from the infection, and spent 6 days in the ICU. That's a week away from my kids and job because he either didn't know or didn't care that an infection and fever would be bad for his cancer/chemo patient. I do not recommend this doctor.
