Our family had a couple virtual visits with Dr. Ahmed along with my elderly mother as his patient. Because of the pandemic, it was at a very difficult time to try to find a psychiatrist, particularly for geriatric care. But as busy as Dr. Ahmed must have been, I never felt rushed on the appointment, he always listened to us and addressed our concerns as a family and was very respectful and personable with my mother. He followed up with us by phone when she was in the hospital. He is a doctor who really cares about his patients, and I would highly recommend him.

The first thing Dr. Ahmed told me was that all of the negative reviews online were wrong and from drug seekers that didnt get the stimulants they wanted. Later he misdiagnosed me with bipolar disorder so he could change my meds, he yanked me off an SSRI id been taking for 3 years, and when I called him frantically, in withdrawl and crisis, he told me to stop getting so emotional and decide what drugs I, as the patient, wanted to take. During that 5 minute call he also said I was wasting time that he could be attending to other patients. He has no empathy for his patients, he lacks basic knowledge of common disorders, he is currently suspended by the state that issued his medical license, and he will be the first to tell you that none of that is his fault. Psychiatrists don't tell patients on the brink of suicide to just calm down and make a rational decision. That much is obvious to me. I trusted this person, and he gambled with my life.

Dr. Ahmed is the 5 star psychiatrist who has always treated me with care and respect. I have made great progress under his care. His treatment plan works for me. He is rude and arrogant. If you ask a question he becomes irate and nasty. This is behavior people who are seeking help don’t need and don’t deserve.

I was a patient for 5 years. The first time I questioned him, he got angry and said I should "get a 2nd opinion", he would not be seeing me anymore. Things were fine until I questioned him and that was it. He said he would continue to see me until I found someone else, but at our next VERY UNCOMFORTABLE appointment, he said he was done with me and wouldn't see me again. Between covid and the school shootings, it's been very difficult to find a psychiatrist accepting new patients. Luckily I found someone else and am very grateful! THIS MAN IS VERY ARROGANT AND UNKIND

I would never reccomend doctor Ahmed to anybody, not even my greatest enemy. That is NOT an exaggeration, if you are reading this do not go to and especially do not let your kids go to Ahmed, I'm honestly not sure how he has a license, I think that needs to be investigated. I saw him when i was 14, he put me on a terrible medication that was for bi polar and i wasnt even diagnosed with bi polar, it made me very angry and agitated, i lashed out and was dangerous on it, i told him and he told me we needed to raise the dose and once I told him no I just dont want to be on it anymore he got very upset with me and told me he couldnt help me and he couldnt see me anymore. I was 14 and depressed and lost and he turned me away because I had negative reactions to 1 medication, again, do not go to or send any loved ones to doctor Ahmed I would never reccomend doctor Ahmed to anybody, not even my greatest enemy. In two minutes of listening to my concerns (mind you, I regularly speak to another person in the office regularly, not him) he gave me a concerning diagnosis, upped the dose of one med x3 and another x2. He wouldn't answer my questions because I "Should listen to your doctor-I am a good doctor..go somewhere else if you do not want to listen to me." He also told me "I don't have tome to repeat myself five times; there are people waiting. I am running behind." Rude, disrespectful, belittling. They might be one of the only places taking new patients and that take patients on Medicaid but dang it, if you can find anywhere else, GO THERE. Ask your primary care doctor for help finding a psychiatrist. Go to community mental health for a referral. Stay away from here. Saw me once and prescribed me three different medications, told me to meet him in three weeks and describe how I was feeling and we'd go from there in terms of adjusting dosage and whatnot. I was very hopeful. I went in the second time told him how I was feeling (had not improved in those short 3 weeks and as i was telling him about my condition i felt ignored) and wondered if the dosage needed to be raised. 5 minutes into this appointment he cut me off and said go see a different doctor I will not continue. I asked for an explanation and he refused me one. He was condescending and rude. He will not help you with anything that ails you. Find a better doctor. I saw Dr. Ahmed one time in my 6+ months of being a patient at Healthy Minds. He shook my hand and left. Every appointment I had was with Kristi the Nurse Practitioner who I can only assume hates her job based on her total apathy towards anything you say. I left a long review on a certain popular review site that I cannot name here in case you are looking for more information.

The services provided here can be met by a primary care physician. If you desire to see a psychiatrist , go elsewhere, they will have you see a nurse practitioner. She will ask little questions and write you a script, scooting you out the door. Any disagreement by the patient will be met with vitriole. Good luck on the quest for good quality psychiatric care. On a side note, he is known throughout Oakland county psychiatrist, interesting reviews. Do your research.

He saw a family member on referral one time and dismissed her. She voiced that she was in the midst of a mental health crisis and she was summarily dismissed, with no direction of where to go to seek support. In reading Dr. Ahmed's tone-deaf response to very similar reviews here he implies those leaving negative reviews are drug-seekers, which is an irresponsible response. We are filing complaint with the State Board, the insurance co's network department, and the referring doctor.

Save your time, find a Dr. who actually cares to help people dispute the insurance they have. They dont take the time to evaluate you they ask name, phone number, address, and insurance info. and make a decision based on that if they are going to see you or not... what sense does that make..... my primary doctor recommend me to these guys and I will make sure he does NOT recommend them to anyone else because they will NOT help you and the staff is RUDE and MEAN when you ask questions

Ahmed seems to be running more of a patient-mill than a psychiatric office. He gives the impression that he is more interested in billing patients than treating them. If you don't mind being double-booked and having to wait over an hour past your scheduled appointment to see him, and if you enjoy having him give multiple different (and conflicting) diagnoses in the mere 15 minutes he spends with you, then he is your man.

When I met with Dr. Ahmed for the first time, he looked at his computer and did not greet either me or my significant other. Did not get up, shake our hands or even say hi. He took a personal phone call during the appt. Dr. Ahmed thinks it's okay to stop Ambien and Xanax cold turkey at the same time. When my significant other questioned him on the safety of stopping both and the fact that appointments are 10 minutes, Dr. Ahmed got up out of his chair, opened the door and told us to 'get out.'

After talking to two different office staff members and giving them quite a bit of information (they each asked different questions and I had to start the process all over with the second), I received a call from the staff that said they came in to a list of people to call and tell them that Dr. Ahmed recommended that I seek treatment elsewhere. I am extremely disappointed it took three weeks and gathering all sorts of insurance information on me to find that out.
