Dr. Achina P Stein

I have been seeing Dr. Stein for almost two years now. I have a history of anxiety and was struggling quite a bit after having my thyroid removed for cancer at 38. I am a yogi and very healthy and did not want to be medicated. There is no way here to explain all the things Dr. Stein has done for me but she is the best out there. I have recommended other people including coaching clients and have recommended her to therapists for their clients. I have learned that my mental health is very much correlated to my gut, my diet and a mind/body balance. It’s exercise, meditation etc I have been able to avoid additional medication! I recently had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and developed a histamine intolerance. In less than two months of support from Dr. Stein I have almost no symptoms!! Super grateful.

Dr Stein has guided me through very difficult times with compassion and a wealth of knowledge and resources. She is patient and wonderfully persistent in helping me move into healthier thinking and behavior. She has taught me how to look at past thinking and make shifts that created enormous differences in my life. Her work, especially CBT empowers me.

My experience has been great. Dr Stein is very patient with me and works to get to the root of a lot of very complicated issues with me. She cares about her patients and encourages questions and learning. If she doesn’t know an answer she will try to find it. She doesn’t give up easily. Her curiosity, intelligence, and passion are stellar. I’m perplexed by the person leaving a negative review about Carol. I’m deaf and really struggle with the phone and Carol has always made certain that I understand what she is saying and communicating to me. She finds ways to make it work, going above and beyond. In fact, just recently I needed help getting a medication supplied and she did a huge amount of phone work in my behalf and followed up with me the next morning to make sure everything worked out.

Unfortunately I did not get to see Dr. Stein, this review is SOLELY about her office. Well, her secretary called me 2 weeks after I sent in my request for an appointment after speaking to Dr. Stein. ( I believe it says they will get back to you within 72hrs). Then she said she was confirming my appointment, I said I spoke with my insurance and they sounded unclear on coverage and if she's worked with my insurance before. Carol stated " If you can't afford to come in then you probably shouldn't." Mind you I was going to drive from Boston to Rhode Island for this appointment, nothing to do with affordability, just planning. Not worth the aggravation.

Dr. Stein is very personable. She looks at the whole make up of her clients. She looks at the medical-physical/medical-mental, and spiritual aspects of people. I like her holistic approach to one's well-being. Furthermore, She is eemphatic as well as sympathetic. Mostly, I feel calm in her presence, and sense a strong spiritual vibe. I will highly recommend her to friends and family.

Dr. Stein is one of the best psychiatrists I have ever met. She is compassionate, kind, and comprehensive. It's the longest evaluation I've ever had and her recommendations are more than medications alone. She looks for the underlying cause of your illness and she treats all of you, not just a part of you. I strongly recommend her. She does not accept insurance but it's totally worth the money to see her especially if you get the run around from other doctors.

I took my father (82 years old) to Dr Stein after trying out a bunch of other treatments. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of details she went into. She checked everything ... all the way from when my father was a young boy till today. She did the right testing of blood, stool and urine and came up with a clear indisputable diagnostics. One of the action items required calling MGH hospital and his PDP to change their decision. She was easily able to convince them. Then, we started implementing the actions ... primarily diet control and OTC supplemental medicines. Prior to our meeting, my father was not able to walk for 10 minutes without stopping. Now, he is able to do so without any issues. Also, his overall sharpness has improved. Dr Stein spent quite a bit of time in each visit and also followed up a lot. She loves to text. So, be ready to communicate over text messages. She also saved us some money to buy the right quality medicines. Overall, very happy. We would continue to use her help for long time to come.

Dr. Stein is by far the most compassionate, committed psychiatrist I have seen. She truly cares about her patients and wants to help them through holistic medicine. The only drawback is that she is sometimes quick to jump to assumptions (for example diagnosing yeast overgrowth without any concrete evidence) and prescribe supplements and tests that are not (yet) completely backed by solid science. Overall a great, responsive doctor though.

Excellent Doctor. I have been in therapy many years and have never come across a more detailed doctor who truly cares about her patients.She is well informed,very knowledgable,listens well and knows exactly what is happening to you.She explains things very well to patient and give great insights.She does her own therapy so she knows her patients well.I will miss her,but wish her well on her new endeveavors!!
