Dr. Andrew A Mohammed

My mother, age 82, went to see Dr. Mohammad as a new patient on May 10th, 2022, because her McKinleyville ophthalmologist (whose name escapes me) is retiring. Dr. Mohammad was allegedly taking new patients.  When my mom arrived for her appointment, as a new patient, first visit to the office, she was ushered into a room with a man who began speaking to her but didn't introduce himself. After inquiring, he told my mom he was Dr. Mohammad. Most of the visit consisted of him venting about the other ophthalmologists leaving the area and how he had a small practice and couldn't take it all on. He did let my mom know her pressure was up (she has glaucoma), asked her if her previous doctor had talked with her about macular degeneration, and when my mother responded with, "Yes, why, do you see that I have the signs of it?" He snapped at her, "I didn't say that!" He then proceeded to tell her didn't want to deal with her because she has glaucoma. Time to review the Hippocratic oath!

In for cataract consult. Dilated eyes, then sent me off unprotected into a blindingly bright sunny day. The moment that hit my eyes was indeed blinding, and now, 3 days later, still have a very painful headache and ultra sensitivity to light. I fear lasting damage and pain, and this was just a consult! Now I am supposed to trust him to cut my eye open? We have a very limited number of drs (2) here who do cataract surgery. By the way, he is now in Eureka, CA.
