Dr. Anne Therese Christopher IV

Been bringing my mother for about 4 years. The care is good but the waiting is ridiculous! We have never had a wait of less than 30 minutes in the waiting room and then 20-25 minutes before the doctor comes in to the exam room. If it were me I would look for another doctor, but I don't want to put my 94 year-old mother through what going to a new doctor would involve.

Dr. Anne Christopher's office is TERRIBLE. I had NO idea she was out of network until it was time to pay the bill. I had a procedure done on my back 2 weeks ago, that HAD to be done at a place that doesn't take any insurance, except medicare & medicaid. I go back in to her office for a 2 week follow-up yesterday. They told me they will not see me until I pay my balance. I explained to them, as I did in the beginning, that I would make payments. Someone told me that was fine only to find out the gal that told me this is at the surgery center, not the doctor's office. They didn't care. They WERE NOT going to see me until my balance is paid in full. AND...to top it off, the procedure did not work at all. I'm still in as much pain. They put on my portal that my appointment, that they wouldn't see me at until I pay the $2,XXX.XX, that the procedure was "success". Let me tell you, it is FAR from a success. In my opinion, it was a total failure. So with the doctor appt and the place she HAD to do it, is going to cost me close to $5XXX.XX for something that DID NOT WORK.

The actual service provided is good. But the wait time is terrible. I have a 30 minute rule, if not seen within 30 minutes I walk. I'm only waiting because I need the injection. Will research other providers or call ahead of time so I can come when they're ready for me. We shouldn't let Dr's get away with this. Maybe poor reviews will help.

Not a good experience. I asked if they did PRP injections in the hip and/or lumbar. I asked to see one of the doctors if yes. They scheduled me to see a PA. I was taken from the waiting room an hour after my appointment that I arrived on time for. While I waited, someone else came for their appointment that had been rescheduled but they were told it wasn’t rescheduled. It turns out they do not do Prp injections in the hip nor lumbar. They asked me to agree to a no show fee in their pre completed admitting paperwork but do not care that I waited 1 and quarter hours to see the PA. Very disappointing.

Absolutely wonderful! My pain has drastically reduced since being treated by Jihan Clay PA-C, Dr. Christopher, and the whole team. I highly recommend their services.

Six years ago I had a herniated disc. It was not diagnosed and I had been through tons of PT-no one would give me an mri. In addition to helping me greatly with injections, Dr. Christopher ordered the mri and suggested a surgical consult. I found her office efficient, thorough, and friendly. While the staff was certainly warmer and more accessible by phone, we were sold a complete bill of goods by the friendly charm. St. Louis Pain Consultants does not actually treat people with genuine long-term chronic pain. If you want your loved one to completely lose hope, then this is the place for you.

Run folks RUN!!! Won't return phone calls. On vacation they said. Another doctor should be filling in while she is vacation. 2nd injection horrible will put you out for 2 weeks.

The dr was ok but the office manager is no one to deal with when you are sick. Also complication with surgery

I’ve been waiting to be scheduled to have a sac injection done by Dr. Christopher especially after being in & out of the hospital due to chronic pain & having to see multiple specialist for the past several mths. I receive a call from Dina with the billing department saying that I am out of network but I knew that wasn’t true so I contacted anthem BCBS. The representative with the insurance company contacted Dina & asked her for the TAX ID & the insurance co says they authorized the procedure to include sedation. I contact Dina & she says she knows more than the insurance co. I call the Dr Ofc & speak to the most RUDEST person I’ve ever met in a doctors office name Mary who said maybe I didn’t understand what the insurance co & Dina was saying. I said I clearly understand the difference between authorized for surgery & out of network. She made me tell her I have 2 Masters degrees when she obviously didn’t understand what I was saying. When asked to leave a meaaage for Dr Christopher or to speak with her she said “No!” I said what’s your name. She said “Melissa” would you like me to spell it for you? I hope I didn’t mispell her name. She got belligerent so I hung up & will find out where to file. More formal complaint. Those 2 Masters degrees did pay off. Thankful for having her on speaker so my husband & guest could hear how I was treated. Guess I have to find someone else to help with the pain I’ve suffered for so long since I can’t speak to my doctor per Melissa & since Dina knows more than my insurance company. Also they don’t return phone calls & I have no idea what my prognosis is from the shoulder X-ray Dr Christopher ordered 2 weeks ago. I had to have my primary care doctor request my records. Both I and my wife have been going to Dr Christopher for months today for the 3rd time in a row waited over 1 hour to be seen and finally walked out. NEVER ON TIME.... Wife has had 3 different procedures and had a spinal cord stimulater put in the last time. she wound up in Mercy Hospital three days later for 5 days and the Drs office never returned calls about her condition. 2 months she is still on pain meds and complains about pain every day. Dr Christopher is not only a great doctor. She’s a great person . I have had 4 major back operations after witch my chronic pain was worse than ever. I looked for a pain management doctor. I was so lucky to find her. She listened to me , cared about my pain . After pictures of my back and a shot. She realized there was only on chance for me to get relief. Instead of putting me on narcotics for the rest of my life . She told me about a nerve stimulator implant. After a test week . I had the operation. Before I meat her I had been sleeping in a chair for 3 years. I couldn’t stand or walk for any amount of time. I am happy to say. I now sleep in bed, I can already walk a mile on the tread mill. I really was impressed with the whole staff. They were compassionate and professional at the same time; from the receptionist who greeted you when you walked in, to the medical staff and right to the doctor. I made an appointment with Dr. Christopher after being treated by other pain specialist for five months with no success. I can't say enough good things about the care I have received from Dr. Christopher and her staff. First of all before my first appointment with her she sent a lengthy form for me to fill out detailing my pain. As soon as I arrived at my first appointment a girl gave me a neurology test because I had indicated that I had neuropathy in my toes. Next I was examined by Dr. Christopher and her MA. Both of them were extremely thorough (something my first pain doctor was not). Dr. Christopher determined that she wanted me to see the surgeon who had replaced my hip to rule out bone issues and a neuro Dr for a neuropathy test. She didn't just ask me to make the appointments, her staff made the appointments for me so that I could be seen by these doctors much faster than if I had to make the appointments myself. Exception care from Dr. Christopher. Highly recommend

Extremely disappointed! Dr Christopher said she had experience doing a procedure & would be willing to do it but at my appt. Wouldn't even discuss this particular procedure & tried to get me to do another. Beware of bait & switch! Then when I requested something for pain because I have a fractured femur- I was told to contact my pcp.

Dr. Christopher and her staff are great. She and her PA Jihan did a thorough walkthrough with me at my first appointment to figure out where my pain was originating and by also looking at my MRI. They developed a detailed plan to address my lower back pain so they could pinpoint the pain and know what to do in the future if the pain returned. I can say that after 3 injections, my pain is virtually managed and I believe they know what needs to be done in the future. Dr. Christopher is so reassuring during the injection process by telling you exactly what she is about to do and what you might feel as she does the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Christopher and her team. They are all very personable and have great bedside manner and are just overall fun to be around.

I had 4 injections in my left shoulder and neck for pain

I am impressed with the good doctor's knowledge and abilities. Her methods are more advanced than any I have previously been accustomed to.

I waited for an hour. First her PA came in and got my history and did a partial exam. While I was waiting I could hear the doctor & her staff talking about patients. She then finally sees me, after me listening to her and the PA discussing my case. I thought she was ok until I was waiting to check out and her assistant make appts for MRIs and injections for me. I was not 10 feet from them and I could then hear them talking about me and having a good laugh! I was so humiliated! I called the next day & cancelled all testing and appts, they asked why & I told them. This doctor needs to go to her office or an exam room far from the front to have their laughs at a patients expense. So unprofessional! And the staff who sits at the front & can obviously hear this are just as bad for not acknowledging it! How can you trust a doctor who you just heard having a laugh at your expense??

Confirmed that I did indeed have complex regional pain syndrome, pretty much gave me the only option of having a spinal cord stimulator or she wouldn't provide any other treatment. Couldn't answer questions about concerns with the scs such as side effects, complications or if it had security risks like have been reported as a potential issue with pacemakers ( like being affected with malware or hacked). Only spouted out stats that made it look like that it was a godsend. Couldn't get her to give a price for how much it would be out of pocket as she wasnt listening and kept going on how insurance would cover it ( had to tell her 3 times I was uninsured). Overall it felt like she was a salesperson for the manufacturer of the scs and worked on commission. Overall lacked empathy and seemed egotistical and narcissistic. Wasted over $300 out of pocket to be told what I had already researched myself and left in more pain than I arrived in with nothing offered to relieve or help with the pain ( save for a scs which would be around or in excess of $150,000 after doing some research). The only positive I can say is her PA was one of the best I have ever delt with. My wife was a patient of Dr. Christopher's and has since left because Dr. Christopher was probably the worst doctor she has ever seen. The doctor kept wanting to do procedures, and each one she attempted left my wife in more pain than before the procedures were attempted. The last procedure was totally botched, leaving my wife no choice but to go elsewhere trying to find someone who could remedy the damage that Dr. Christopher created. The doctor, incidentally, certainly didn't seem to be interested in following up after the last procedure which caused excruciating pain. Phone calls were often not returned. Most appointments made to see the doctor were taken care of by the nurse practitioner instead. In addition, the doctor liked to schedule as many visits as possibly, requiring 3 visits to do what the next doctor did in one. I would strongly recommend that no one choose this doctor. After years of pain my primary referred Dr Christopher. She is “my angel.”

Dr Anne Christopher is amazing. She was able to give me more answers than other doctors I've seen. Her and her staff answered all my questions and were very nice and made me feel at ease. I would highly recommend this office.

Dr. Christopher and her staff are ALWAYS cheerful, helpful and caring. Her front office staff is amazing. Dr. Christopher is very attentive. I had several spine injections and she was very concerned about my pain level during the procedures so she arranged for me to have future treatments done at the Surgery Center where I could receive the injections more comfortably. Watch out for the “required” drug test...after insurance, it was still over $1000 out of pocket. Thanks not even including the office visit. Did they mention the cost of that drug test??? Nope.

Was referred to this office by my primary care doctor. I was not satisfied at all, nobody answers phones most of the time. If you leave a message they don't return calls. I asked why they would only do one thing per appt regarding my pain since it was my third visit in just a few weeks. Office manage told me insurance wouldn't cover it if they billed it together. After contacting my insurance company I was told that was a lie. I asked the office why they lied to me as I had to take off work each time. They said that is what Dr Christopher tells the staff to tell patients. Definitely don't want someone that lies straight to my face helping me with pain. Called to talk to the office manager about it, was told he would call me back never heard from them. Went on to ask for paper work so I could see another doctor and was then told by her staff about how they legally had 30 days. To get me the info I need to see a different doctor. I asked them to fax over MRI results and it's 5 days after I called and they haven't faxed anything or gave my primary care doctor anything in regards to being seen there. I had a very bad experience with Dr. Christopher. She gave me a shot in the spine and it felt like she hit a nerve or disc. Immediately after the shot I asked about the pain and was told she was busy with another patient and couldn’t see me. I made a follow up appointment the next day, and she blamed it on muscle spasms due to yard work I did 2 days earlier. I’ve had back problems for 20 years and didn’t believe that for a minute. Honestly best just to remove the phone number. They don't answer it, nor do they seem to return phone calls in a timely manner. When I've actually seen Dr. Christopher it's been valuable, but you have to get through all the office staff hurdles first. Good luck.

Thus far have no complaints . Staff has been great. Dr Christopher wonderful. Previous provider was insensitive, rude and rough with procedures. I would be on table with his back toward me while I lay there on table with such anxiety expecting the again pain. I would be in tears without any concern from staff or Dr. He used little lidocaine or sedation. I would often have 2 staff members pulling and holding my arms down. Every muscle tight. After procedures would always be asked about my pain level. What could I honestly tell them? Level higher starting with. After having Dr Christopher, I question why subjected myself years and years of painful procedures under this other provider. Thanks you Dr Christopher for your kindness and compassion for patient comfort. The only negative thing I would address, office needs windows ar checkin for client privacy one can sit in waiting and hear phone conversation which names and their imformation heard. I have been a patient of Dr. Christopher for a number of years for spine damage done while a Marine Corps Pilot. I have nothing but praise for Her and Her staff. It is taking awhile to find all the pain areas but getting major relief each time I go. I chose to find a Dr. outside of the VA to get the proper treatment and pain relief and in my opinion could not have found anyone better than Dr. Christopher. My first visit with Dr. Christopher was on 11-20-18 & my referral came from Dr. Frank Thomas' office after he did both total knee replacements on me. I've been living with pain in my hips & absolutely unbearable chronic debilitating lower back issues for many years, but recently in the past couple of years has gotten soon much worse. Just today I was given an injection in my right hip & it was done & over before I even knew it. Dr. Christopher is absolutely amazing & in the short time that I've been seeing her, I would highly recommend her to anyone. I have quite a long road ahead of me with my back & will be starting injections in Jan. 2019. I have all the trust in Dr. Christopher & just know that she'll do whatever possible along with my at home exercises & PT, of course to help my lower back get back to what it once was. Dr. Christopher is wonderful! She takes her time during every visit, and always makes sure that she does a thorough evaluation. The staff is very patient and willing to answer any questions that you have. St. Louis Pain Consultants also has a NP so if you need to see a provider ASAP they can usually fit you in!

Dr. Christopher is incredible, she is caring and personable. The staff is pleasant. Dr. Christopher diagnosed my problem fast and has kept me pain free. She answered all of my questions and is thorough. She gave me medicine that has worked great. She finds out the problem and fixes it. The waiting room and exam rooms are nice and clean.

Dr. Christopher is the best pain management specialist I've seen in a while. She and her staff were all incredibly patient and answered all the questions I had, which believe me, were many. The waiting area is comfortable, but i spent so little time waiting. Her staff was speedy and cared about my pain. When I went back for my appointment, the NP, Nicole was very kind. I told her about how I fell off a ladder, and she assured me that Dr. Christopher would know exactly how to treat my pain. Be prepared to keep coming back for more. She will only allow one complaint to be discussed per visit. She will also not refill a medication and give an injection in one visit. Before booking an injection, you have to come in for an evaluation. I would see the patient week after week, paying a copay for each visit. The physician will state it is because of billing, but I do not believe that is one hundred percent true.

I left after waiting (in severe pain) for an hour and a half. When I got there no one was at the desk and when I left they weren’t there. I used her business card to write a note saying I had to leave and 1 1/2 hrs wait was too long. I inquired once and they said they were inputting my information! What?! There was one other person in the waiting room when I got there. This is very unacceptable and unprofessional. I’ve been to pain mgt centers in KC and they are run very well.

I have read some very bad reviews.. But my experience with Dr.Christopher has been excellent she listen to my problems that i have been having with my hip an leg that has been causing me pain for the last year. The staff is very helpful also i have never waited in the lobby very long to be seen by the doctor or nurse.

My experience of Dr. Christopher was a welcomed chg from my previous Pain Doc. After reading some of the low reviews I wasn’t expecting much. To my surprise it was the total opposite. I made an appt w/I 2 wks of calling. I had my records sent prior to my appt. Did paperwork,was back in an exam room W/I 10 mins. The nurse practitioner was very thorough as was Doc C. She actually looked at my back,Ordered a CT scan to rule out concerns, chgd meds, very knowledge. Office was nice, staff pleasant!

Dr. Anne is one of the rudest and most impatient people I have ever come across! I'm not exaggerating.

I told everyone, nurses and Dr. I can not take steroids. When I have taken them before it turns me into an erratic behavior that is not good for anyone. So, what did they do? Of course a strong steroid! By injection into my lower back. They charge your insurance (Medicare) hundreds of dollars. I am so grateful that I isolated myself to avoid making everyone hate me. This was totally a very serious matter. I suffer from depression and during this time was capable of doing harm to myself. St. Luke's has had it's problems recently, perhaps that's why they are going to have new management soon. I told everyone, nurses and Dr. I can not take steroids. I saw Dr. Christopher for chronic headaches and prior to seeing Dr Christopher, i had seen multiple doctors looking for answers. Dr. Christopher performed the most thorough exam to date and was able to reproduce my symptoms, which no other physician could do. This convinced me that she discovered the cause of my symptoms. Had severe pain after getting trigger point injections. 3 hour wait to see N.P. She promised to call me after talking to doctor. I never got a call. Called back a week later. Still couldn’t get a call back. Requested my medical records. They refused, giving different excuses depending on who I spoke with. One of the women was argumentative and rude and hung up on me. Worst medical staff I’ve ever dealt with. (Doctor was late and rushed and wouldn’t tell me possible side effects or reactions.)

I do not recommend Dr Christopher. She is always late coming to the office. If you have an appointment at 9am, she probably won't even show up at the office until 10am. I consider that to be disrespectful to her patients. She has an office policy for the patients that cannot cancel appointments 24 in advance, that there will be a $50 office fee. What about her? We the patient should be able to charge her for constantly being late.

Dr. Christopher lacks ability and people skills. She is unreachable if you have follow up questions, and has a rude and disrespectful office support staff (especially Cathy who answers phones). Never have I had these problems with other doctors and their offices before.

Was up there for shots in my back and first off she did this without getting x-rays to see if there was an other issues. When I got there and my appointment was for 9am they told me to get there 15 minutes earlier, I did and the doctor didn't show up until 10:15 so I was pretty hot by then. The staff is not friendly and take forever to see you. Took them 4 months to get my records to another doctor, until I told them I was on my way up to get them then they faxed them. Umm.

When we are hurting we all want a little extra care. In my experience, after my initial consultation with Dr. Christopher, her staff more that capably handled my concerns. Her nurse practitioner is incredibly well versed about pain management and I felt completely comfortable discussing my needs with her. I would rather have my doctor available for my procedure than taking time from that schedule to hold the hand of all of her patients thus reducing the time she can actually be managing pain.

The only person that listened and cared was the office manager, Lisa. She was always very kind and caring. I wish my doctor cared even have as much.
