Dr. Anup Patel

Dr. Patel is a knowledgeable, thorough and all around outstanding physician. I have several issues: carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists, trigger finger, and De Quervain’s tenosynovitis. After appropriate testing and conservative treatment in the hopes of avoiding surgery, which I very much appreciated, I ultimately had to have the procedures necessary to correct the problems. I highly recommend Dr. Patel to anyone who is suffering from conditions that would require treatment/surgery in his area of expertise.

Dr. Patel has true integrity and honesty. I was referred to him for mystery hand pain. He thoroughly explored all conceivable options. Even though he was among many doctors in being unable to find a treatment, he was the first to show genuine care and empathy for my situation. He refused to perform treatment that he could make money off because he truly believed it would do more harm than good. If anyone I know ever has an issue, I’ll be sure to send them to Dr. Patel.

Thank God I went to Dr. Patel and received a second opinion. He very succinctly explained my injury and very accurately predicted my recovery without surgery. In fact, Dr. Patel explained that the surgery originally proposed was not possible. 8 weeks later, I have full range of motion and feeling in my fingers. I cannot more highly recommend Dr. Patel and OHSA.

I can't adequately express in words how grateful I am to Dr. Patel for helping restore my injured hand. He is exemplary, a consummate professional, and a true healer. His knowledge and surgical skills put me FIRMLY on the road to recovery, yes, but he also immediately understood the origin and context of my pain and suffering, and passionately advocated for me, ultimately due to his great ability to empathize with, and connect with, his patients. Dr. Patel is gifted in the science and art of surgery. He's an extraordinary, superlative credit to his profession.

I had a severe wrist fracture and was impressed with the credentials of Dr. Anup Patel. He worked me into his schedule and stayed late one evening to perform the surgery. Dr. Patel explained that he will use a hook plate that only a few surgeons are trained to use in the area. We discussed the limited use I had of the distal interphalangeal joint in my thumb. He said I might require another surgery later to work on the thumb or to remove the hardware, but we would try to avoid this. 7 weeks later pain is minimal. Range of motion has improved 10-15 degrees in each direction of the wrist. But the most significant improvement was that I have regained movement in the tip of my thumb. Strengthening has only just started in Physical Therapy, and I am getting stronger with each visit. The goal is to regain full strength and most flexibility. I feel I am in very good hands with a capable team that is knowledgeable of new technologies, caring and compassionate.

Dr. Patel is such an incredible surgeon and an even more respectable human being. He's board certified, has written many journals, and is also charitable. He has been recognized by celebrities, politicians, and athletes for his work. I knew he also did reconstructive hand surgery, plastic surgery sounds easy compared to that! He understood what I wanted by asking for a natural, proportional size. He answered all of my questions and I had this feeling of confidence knowing I could trust in him. I have so much respect for Dr. Patel and I'm so proud he is my surgeon! Even before surgery, I was so impressed that Dr. Patel would contact me personally if I had questions the secretary couldn't answer or with any major surgery updates. He checked in on me the evening of my surgery and so frequently during recovery, sending update photos was a great experience. He really does care about his patients, you can tell. My results are beautiful!

Dr. Patel performed hand surgery on me for trigger finger at 11:30 am on Wednesday January 18. The surgery went perfectly and that evening he called me to inquire about how I was feeling and to reiterate the type of exercises I should start the following day. That type of dedication and commitment is extremely impressive and rarely found in today’s healthcare delivery system. My follow up visit was today Wednesday February 1. He was very pleased with the results of the surgery and the healing process to date. He recommended continuing my exercises while cautioning me to take certain precautions to guard against getting the incision infected. He again displayed the same type of care and professionalism.

Amazing! Had an intense time finding an opening with a surgeon. Found DR. Patel. He was adamant about getting into surgery quick. Then followed up several times in evenings to make sure I was ok and managing good. If ever i need a surgeon would look to him and team first and see if able to get in!!! For my situation was scary and hard to deal with, for I own a mechanical HVAC business! Every aspect of the visits I was 100% sure my interests were his number one priority!!! Not to praise too much, but thank you Dr.Patel for taking care of me and my future in my business!!!!

Dr Patel is a great surgeon. Operated on my hand & 5 days later I was moving my fingers . Healing fast due to his fantastic skills. I recommend Orlando Hand Surgery if you need work done. I travelled 80 miles because of good reports.

Dr. Patel is an outstanding hand and plastic surgeon. I've been a patient for over four years (primarily hand) but when my dermatologist suggested I have a facial cyst removed I didn't think twice about who I wanted to do the surgery....It was Dr. Patel. He's extremely knowledgeable and skillful. He listens and explains everything in detail and he personally follows up with you after surgery. I know this is a little thing, but he is the first doctor since I've lived here that has called me by my preferred name instead of my legal name. He plays attention to the little details and is caring and compassionate.

My previous doctor was really pushing surgery for carpal tunnel. Dr. Patel took the time to listen to me and outlined non surgical options to try. This is unheard of from a surgeon. One cortisone shot and I’m 98% better. No down time, surgery or physical therapy. His bedside manner is excellent. I highly recommend him, appreciate his non aggressive approach, and willingness to respect my personal choices.

I broke my wrist during Hurricane Ian. After x-rays were taken, Dr. Patel informed me that surgery might not be necessary. He put me in a cast. Two weeks later after more x-rays were taken, Dr. Patel could see the radius was lining up correctly. I so appreciate the integrity of this orthopedist! How easy it would have been for him to have initiated unnecessary surgery and inflate the bill! Not only is Dr. Patel honest, but he is caring, conscientious and a rare find in today's world of medicine.

I had pain in my knees for over a decade and had reached a point where I wasn't even able to walk comfortably after a few minutes. I decided on trying the PRP treatment and I am so thankful to Dr. Anup Patel for being so caring and compassionate. He explained things so well before giving the injection which increased my confidence in him and the treatment. After a few days of receiving the injection, I noticed that my discomfort level had started reducing and there was an improvement in my knee movement. He did an amazing job fixing my wrist. I had a scaphoid non-union after an bad injury with a corded drill. I was afraid I would never regain my strength or get rid of the pain. I am blown away by his ability to not just save my bone from dying but the speed of my recovery. My mobility is almost back to the way it was before the injury and my pain is greatly reduced. I would 100% recommend him to anyone with wrist pain.

When my PCP recommended Dr. Patel for my arthritic hands, I was a little apprehensive to go to a hand surgeon. Typically, surgeons like to cut. Not Dr. Patel! Surgery is my last resort. It is in my best interest to avoid surgery as much as possible. That speaks volumes coming from a surgeon! I give him the full five star rating.

Orlando Hand Surgery Associates and Dr. Anup Patel did an amazing job on helping me with my fractured 4th Metacarpal. Dr. Patel showed upmost care and concern for my condition when he first attended to me. Unfortunately he had no room in his schedule, but somehow managed to squeeze me in and did remarkable work on my right hand and improving mobility. Waste of time and money with dr anup patel. Wanted to only give cortisone shot and not address the underlying issue. My family has had similar surgery and I am also a candidate, but he is only interested in consistently giving shots without fixing the problem. Also prescribed medication I can't take because of conflict with my heart medication. He should know that from my chart but recommended just the same. Don't waste your money seeing him. He doesn't really care therefore is a dangerous visit. Now I know why you can get right in to see anup patel but dr White is two months backlogged in that office.

I arrived downtown and parking was just as I was told. So I got a parking spot fast. The front desk receptionist was organized and helpful. I had to fill out patient information on an IPad, which was cleaned before use. But for medications it was harder to complete as the spelling of some are difficult. No one specifically discussed my intake forms with me, I think this should have been done to correct any errors made on the IPad entry. Also to confirm allergies. A back office employee, not sure if she was an assistant or nurse or xray tech...took me back and did take 3 xrays for the doctor. She then had me in a room to wait. The wait wasn't long, Dr Patel came in and asked my reason for visit, went over specific area of concern, carpal tunnel pain. He told me his preference for treatment in practice. He recommended I start with a steroid injection, then ordered a nerve test and wants me to return in 4 weeks. At that time we will discuss if steroid injection helped, nerve test result and potential further treatment options. Overall, it was a good experience. The day after surgery, Dr. Patel followed up with a phone call to see how I was doing. The next day his physician assistant checked in with me. Honestly, those follow up calls helped me to relax and heal. This may be a small detail, but it impressed me: every appointment, including three post-op follow up meetings with Dr. Patel, have been on time! Dr. Patel’s skills are definitely outstanding. After removal of of cancerous cells from the surface of my hand by a dermatologist, Dr. Patel was tasked with closing the wound. It was expected that a skin graft would be required. Upon examination of the site Dr. Patel determined that the closure could by done using a Rhomboid flap. I was so relieved that there was an alternative and that Dr. Patel is proficient in this procedure. There was little discomfort after the surgery and the healing process has been short. Both Dr. Patel and his surgical staff were in contact with me several times to check on my recovery progress. It is evident that a patient’s well being is of utmost concern. This was my second hand surgery by Dr. Patel and on both occasions I have felt confident being in his care. I highly recommend Dr. Patel!

His assessment of my physical condition both by examination and review of my records was excellent. I saw Dr. Anup Patel for ruptured implant removal surgery. He and his entire staff were professional, friendly, and very helpful in keeping me informed and taken care of pre- and post-op. I fractured my left wrist in a home accident. Dr. Patel reviewed the X rays with me and suggested surgery. At that time, he explained exactly what he would do in the operating room. Therefore, all of my concerns and questions were addressed before entering surgery. Dr. Patel possesses a genuine concern for his patients. He spoke to my family immediately following the surgery and then called me later that evening. The next morning, I received the X rays of my repaired wrist complete with the screws and plate along with a message asking how I was feeling. As someone who struggled with large breasts since I was a kid, who was constantly uncomfortable with myself and was looked at differently for something I couldn’t control, especially as an Indian/Middle Eastern. It was refreshing to meet Dr. Patel who was the first person my whole life who made me feel heard and knew the problems I was having the second he saw me without me having to say a word. Having my breast reduction done by him was the best decision I’ve ever made. This procedure is something that is not talking about in the brown community, but in the words of Dr. Patel, this procedure is reconstructive, not plastic surgery. It’s meant to improve an individuals life. And as I sit here today, one month post-op, improve is an understatement. For the first time in my life I am confident & for someone who has struggled with this pain, discomfort and hatred for her own body, this procedure made ALL the difference. Dr. Patel is the best surgeon, and he is very attentive even after.

Coming from someone who is both Indian and Middle Eastern, there is a lot of stigma around the “taboo” topic of plastic surgery. It is by no means widely accepted in my culture and women are often judged for seeking a solution to whatever issues they are having. I had very large breasts starting from 6th grade. I was treated differently than girls my age by both kids, as well as adults. I have always been conservative with the way I dressed and yet adults with my own heritage looked at me as though I was inappropriate for the size of my chest that I could not control. I am now 26 years old and was finally fed up with my enormous breasts, no matter matter how much weight I lost, my breasts would not shrink, so I had set up a consult with Dr. Patel to discuss my options. Within 2 minutes of seeing him, he pointed out how he could imagine how bad my back pain must have been for having large and heavy breasts that did not match the frame of my body at all. Dr. Patel was the first person who made me feel beyond understood and made me truly aware that I didn’t have to deal with macromastia for the rest of my life and that I had the ability to change my life. So that is exactly what I did. I had my breast reduction with Dr. Patel and he was absolutely correct when he pointed out that a procedure like this isn’t just plastic surgery, it’s a complete reconstructive procedure. Today I am almost 3 weeks post-op and I can without a doubt say it was the best decision I have ever made. I experience more pain after getting my wisdom teeth taken out, if that tells you anything. This post-op has thankfully been a breeze but that is 1000% thanks to Dr. Patel. He was able to give me even better results than what I was originally anticipating because he is just that great! I only needed to take meds and antibiotics for the first week and had someone to help me out for about 12 days, and since then I have been pretty much back to normal. Just slowly waiting for inflammation to go down. Dr. Patel is also very responsive and he communicates with his patients one on one which makes it a lot easier and he puts all of your worries at ease. I can tell you with absolute confidence that you will love your results if you go with Dr. Patel. Was it a bit expensive? Of course, it’s a reconstructive surgery, but you are also paying for the highest quality care, results, expertise, and convenience. Absolutely worth it and I will forever be recommending him. If you are Indian/Arab and you are considering getting a reduction, this is your sign to do something for yourself and get it done, your back, neck & shoulders will thank you and your life will be 10x better.

The office was prompt in check in and the wait time was 15mins to see doctor. The difficult part was finding the office..drove by twice and GPS was not very helpful. Because the area of the office has several one way street it was beyond frustrating.

My visit today was with Dr. Patel. There was hardly a wait and the doctor was very thorough and personable. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Patel to treat my hand pain.

Dr. Patel performed my surgery because of a Dupuytren's contracture. This was my third surgery, having 2 previously with other surgeons before Dr. Patel. I had very limited range of motion in my little finger (~50%) and lots of scarring due to the previous surgeries. Dr. Patel warned me that this was going to be a very difficult surgery, having to also repair and work with the existing damage due to the previous procedures. He performed the surgery in October, and scheduled 8 weeks of OT immediately after the procedure. Fast forward to today, I have almost 100% range of motion and much less scarring than even before the surgery. Although given a prescription for pain killers, none are needed! Amazing. In fact I can remove the dressing that I thought I'd have to wear for 2 weeks. I'm being cautious about driving and lifting but feel no pain or even discomfort. This was a very tricky surgery given the proximity to essential nerves to the hand. Dr. Patel is a human miracle worker! Growing up, I developed early and was a size DD by the time I was 17. I have danced and cheered my entire life and was an NFL cheerleader at the age of 18. Having larger breasts made dancing a challenge but was my dream. Over time, they were getting larger but my body frame was not. I was about 5'9", 140 lbs. with size 34H breasts by the time I was 40. Dr. Patel is a miracle surgeon! Just ask Jimmy Fallon or any of his patients for that matter. I am an avid saltwater fly fisherman and I found myself with a severe spiral "boxer's style" fracture of my 5th metacarpal deep in the middle of tarpon season. He was able to fit me in quickly for surgery as my hand had been broken for several days and did a great job answering all of my questions. I was quite distraught, but Dr. Patel said he had a special compression screw, a relatively new treatment, that would get me back fishing in only a matter of weeks. The screw was inserted lengthwise into the bone and allows for full movement of the finger and knuckle. The compression screw allowed me to start at Ability Rehab with my OT the same week as surgery. I might add, Dr. Patel is also a highly skilled plastic surgeon, using no sutures and leaving me with minimal scarring at the incision point. As soon as I met Dr Patel he made me feel at ease through a stressful situation. After the accident, my husband was promptly given an appointment for us to see Dr. Patel at his office. He listened, showed compassion, and spoke softly yet confidently. I was referred to Dr. Patel by a friend and could not be more happy with my experience. I was having numbness, tingling, and weakness in my left hand. We tried every conservative treatment possible to avoid surgery. I did end up having to have surgery for median and ulnar nerve compression. Dr. Patel was very informative and open to questions. Was bit by a dog on the nose a couple days ago. After going to the emergency room, I contacted Dr. Patel since I heard good things through previous patients that are also friends of mine. He came to the hospital from his home that evening and performed surgery on my nose and really did a great job with how he minimized all the scarring. Dr. Patel is conscientious in ways others noted; but I have twist on all the reviews. I've yet to see Dr. Patel; but sent a note about a Stage 4 wound (hospital-acquired due to not being turned in the ICU). The Doctor responded asking for pictures; and called me after a quick look. We discussed alternatives and I will follow-up if a flap procedure is indicated. This was an incredible response for a physician these days , and I've not approached or even looked at information on anyone else. If my wound doesn't heal (with a wound vac on it now); of course I'll follow Dr. Patel's recommendations. He already earned my confidence.

Dr.Patel has done two surgeries on my hands in the past few years. I never felt any anxiety with him at the helm. I knew I was in the best possible hands. As a RN of many years, I am pretty diligent in my research before selecting a surgeon,and it paid off. The experience was processional, smooth, no hiccups. Dr. Patel is not only a skilled surgeon but a compassionate and understanding person. He is honest and upfront about your procedure and his plan to perform surgery and correct the issue. I had a dangerous skin cancer on the top of my head. Rhat is one of the most challenging surgeries and most difficult to close. He told me that his oblective was ro remove the cancer and save my life, not to make the scar look pretty. Most cases like mine require a skin graft to close the wound. Dr. Patel was able to utilize a specialized procedure called a ying-yang flap. He did a remarkable job and the scar is barely noticeable. You would never see it if you weren't looking for it. He got the cancer and left me pretty as well. I cannot thank him enough for his professional manner and unmatched skill.

I have had the pleasure of being a patient of Dr. Anup Patel for about 18 months. The first procedure ws to fix my trigger finger on my left hand. He gave me an injection and I have not had any further problems. I was diagnosed with severe right carpal tunnel syndrome and my first choice for fixing this issue was Dr. Patel. After consolutation with Dr. Patel I decided to hve the carpal syndrome surgery and I am happy to report that as of today, I have complete pain free use of my right wrist and hand. The office was we'll staffed and professional. Dr. Patel has a quiet and confident demeanor, and I felt I was in excellent "hands" for my minor surgery. I was able to have the procedure completed within a week . All went as expected, and my incision site was beautifully sutured.
