About Dr. Brian Scott Rizzo
Reviews for Dr. Brian Scott Rizzo
This was my first time seeing Dr. Rizzo and it was horrible. He came in the room, looked at my chart and literally scoffed at me. And then just continued to degrade me from there.
Dr. Rizzo, You are a remarkable surgeon. Thank you for saving my life.
I have been seeing Dr. Rizzo for years. I can finally have a voice and don't lose it anymore. Office staff is very pleasant and most time runs on time.
He is by far the best surgeon ,ENT, and doctor I could ever recommend! He knows his profession to the the core. He is kind, honest, easy to talk to, always professional, most importantly truly cares about his patients! He saved my life when I was a stage 4 neck and throat cancer patient. Every time I go for my check up, I know I have a doctor who’s I can trust, which being a mom of 2 young kids makes me feel truly at ease. Thank you, Doc! He is truly fantastic!
My mother's first experience with this doctor was him walking in the door saying do you even speak English? I thought my mom must have misunderstood him but after reading all these bad reviews sounds just like him. What terrible judgment from a so-called professional. Not sure why but she went back 2nd time with my sister .. he got halfway through the visit with the wrong patients chart. Stay away from this guy if you value your life! I have no idea how people are rating him 5 stars. I am angry that my pediatrician would refer me to him. He put tubes in my daughter's ears and did not follow up and speak to us after surgery even though he said he would tell us if there was an active infection and prescribe ear drops if needed. It's standard that doctors will touch base with a patient they just performed an operation on if only briefly, and he didn't even take the time to do that. We were told by some of the staff to give ear drops, and by others not to. On the surgery schedule screen we saw he had double booked more than one surgery per time slot, so no wonder he had no time to even speak with us after surgery as our baby girl was writhing in pain and screaming in the PACU. We requested tylenol be ordered in PACU for her pain and they said sorry we can't do it because the doctor did not order this. He is clearly 100% in it for the money and does not have much caring or concern. I have no idea how people are rating him 5 stars. I am angry that my pediatrician would refer me to him. first time here and he didn’t want to hear anything i had to say about why i was there. i’m okay with upfront and honest but this man was almost rude. mocked the surgery and doctor i had before. kept cutting me off when i was explaining my history. almost like he didn’t have time. shoved a scope up my nose without any numbing spray. didn’t say a word when you could tell i was in pain and started to tear up. looked at me for 10 minutes and then wanted to schedule and perform surgery for something i had no idea about. first time here and he didn’t want to hear anything i had to say about why i was there. i’m okay with upfront and honest but this man was almost rude. mocked the surgery and doctor i had before. kept cutting me off when i was explaining my … More
Dr. Rizzo is very good, right to the point and explains so I understand. I would fully recommend him. I was in for coughing problems of the throat but now that I see he also does neck and head problems I might mention to him a few problems. Very nice office and all employees are very nice and professional.
Worst doctor. Not only did he complain about masks and vaccines, he never explained anything and I wish I could dispute the bill. His "services" did nothing to help me and my new doctor cannot understand why this guy threw me on crazy dosages of meds. Avoid this place and find a doctor who actually cares about their patients. The $650 surprise bill (after insurance) was the salt in the wound. Pretty sure this is where I also got Covid- a woman brought her sick kid in, who coughed all over, and never wore a mask. I died under Doctor's care. It was to be out patient, but my neck started spurting blood. 4 hours turn in to 8 days.
Great doc and was great with my children!!!
I love Dr. Rizzo. He is amazing.
We were referred to Dr. Rizzo by out pediatrician. Dr. Rizzo's office order tests to be done. After two weeks of waiting, I had to call his office several times to get the referrals send through for these tests. When the tests results came back, Dr. Rizzo spend very little time explaining the results of the tests and gave no time to ask questions. He said he was referring us to Children's Hospital Clinic for further follow up and said they would send the tests results. They sent the referral but did not send the test results. We got to our appointment at Children's Hospital Clinic and the doctor had no idea we had already had tests conducted. Quite a waste of our time and the doctor's time. I've called their office several times and have been unable to speak with the office manager. Very disappointment with this experience with Dr. Rizzo and his office. If you do not mind waiting a half hour or more past your appointment then use this doctor. They seem to overbook
I have been going to Dr. Rizzo for several years . He has always been friendly & down to earth with all my care. He has done surgery on my sinus & recently ear tubes. He explained everything before, during & after. He is a very good doctor & very knowledgible . He is up to date on new & current treatments. His office is very busy & most of my other doctors go to him as patients themselves ! When your pcp says they see him themselves for allergies & ear problems - that says alot about his standing with other doctors. Thank you Dr. Rizzo for being so awesome! God Bless him as no one in the valley would touch me. I am a high risk patient, not the easiest to treat. I appreciate everything he has done for me when others turned me away! Thank you !
Great doctor did a great thyroid surgery for me. You can barely see my scar!!! Thank you, Karen. You did a great job helping prepare for my surgery. Great experience.
Do not go to this Dr. Offices. They have a blatant disregard for their patient's well being.
Disappointing. The office stated a procedure would be $100. Two months later you get a bill and its $213. When calling office to check on the discrepancy, they are not apologetic for their error and have an attitude that you just pay it. They won't try to work with you! Also no follow through when they refer you to other specialist to resolve an issue they could not resolve. Run too impersonal .... Like an assembly line. no human touch form them. Disappointing. I do not recommend this doctor for children. His office staff is rude. The surgery center isn’t upfront about charges. You think you’re paying for the total cost of surgery before hand, as they claim. Then, you will start to receive more bills from the surgery center, anesthesiologist, and from Rizzo’s office. I did not like their discharge practices after my toddler just had surgery for the first time. She only got about 20-30 mins to recover then we were kicked out. There’s always a wait at the office, Rizzo is always in a hurry and there is never any sympathy shown. My child was in extreme pain during her recovery period from surgery and their office didn’t seem concerned at all. Even during follow up appointments when I expressed concern over unusual symptoms from what I was told, zero sympathy, no advice and just rushed out of there. I’m going to a new specialist over $3,000 later. I do not recommend this doctor for children. His office staff is rude. The surgery center isn’t upfront about charges. I saw his PA who was great. The problem is the front desk people. They are rude, not helpful, and will make you feel like a burden. I’ve had to wait weeks to months for an appointment only for it to be cancelled. I waited a month for my allergy testing results/follow up call that never came and when I called they made it seem like it was my fault. After reading all of the terrible reviews I was a little nervous for my appointment with him. I had no issues with his staff they were all friendly to me. I didn’t wait too long before I was seen. Dr. Rizzo came in we discussed my issues he ordered testing and a cat scan. Came back a couple weeks later for a follow up on my CT. He was very detailed over what he found, suggested surgery also very detailed about what he would do during the surgery. 3 weeks later I was having septoplasty, turbinate reduction and nasal valvulopsty surgery. Before surgery he came and talked to me very friendly. Had my follow up and again no issues with the staff or the doctor. It’s a busy doctors office. He is very direct and straight to the point and he knows what he’s doing. I’ve been to his office 4 times in the past two months and never encountered any issues or witnessed staff being unprofessional. Dr Rizzo is the absolute best ENT hands down. Here’s why - came in there with breathing problems and he diagnosed and fixed it thoroughly and I can breath after 25 years. He fixed my muscle spasms in my neck also. My nose looks absolutely amazing. 10 out of 10 is fully recommended...for (first off) your safety as a patient and also a full diagnosis and treatment plan that you as the patient are comfortable from start to finish. As I read some of the comments I am not sure we are talking about the same outstanding doctor,Dr Brian Rizzo. I cannot tell you how ANAZING and caring and compassionate his MA Lisa is. I am blessed to have such an amazing doctor. Things were very challenging in my surgery, but without the amazing hands of Dr. Rizzo's hands and years of experience and caring things could not have gone any better. If you are looking for an ANAZING dictir I highly recommend Dr Brian Rizzo. He gas one of the finest PA. Again, the ine of the greatest assets he has is Lusa, his MA. I don't know where to begin, she is truly professional, caring and loving. I will go no where else from the Doctor to his PA to his MA nothing but 5 star service, care and compassion.
Great ENT! My PCP referred me to a great dr. After all of the headaches found out my allergies were bad. Never felt better!
Had a wonderful experience with Dr. Rizzo. Thyroid operation went well. Did a great job with the scar, you can really even see it! Thank you Susan S
Zero to no follow through. You have to follow up with everything yourself. Office staff is minimally helpful. Amber is pleasant and thorough; too bad no follow up with next course of action from staff.
Very knowledgeable doctor after seeing two other ENTs!!!
Dr. Rizzo fixed my son's ear infections and snoring. Good Dr
HORRIFIED BY THE LACK OF A SUPPORT STAFF. I BEEN TRYING FOR 2MONTHS SINCE MY APPOINTMENT TO RECIEVE SERVICES DR. RIZZO DEEMS NECESSARY BECAUSE NO ONE PROCESSES THE PAPERWORK! D.brian s Rozzo he’s the best but the people work there the so mean and they give you appointment at 10 you go there you wait more than one hour this happen every time I go there
Left urgent message with on call service when I lost hearing in my left ear. Over 24 hours have passed and still no return call.
I do not recommend this doctor, nor office to anyone. Unless, you want to be treated in a rude manner. Or if you do not value your time, because you will be there for a very long time. I am a post op patient, from December 18th 2018, who is still waiting for the results of what he did to me! He injected into my nose, a medication to treat cancer pulps on vocal cords, only, that's not what I have! And now I do not know what the result from it is! He canceled for my follow up, unbelievable!! I have to find a new doctor, make an appointment, and get my medical records from Dr Rizzo's office transferred to a new doctor. And I do not have any confidence that his office will do so. I had been a patient for over 3 years, it was a mess when I first went, and it's even worse. Do not really know why I stayed, my mistake. He is curt in manner that borders on down right rudeness. The person who first greets you ( only she does not greet you) is rude also, and at times seems almost hostile. She lets you know she is overworked, and not really interested in helping you. Dr Rizzo has had a most negative effect on my life right now! It's not his nose, and he already got paid for his surgery and injecting me with that drug! So, it was so obvious, how much concern he has for his patients, and what he performs on them. Beware!! I literally got my hearing back in my right ear immediately following the quick, painless procedure in office. I've had blocked hearing for over 8 years and Dr Rizzo put a T tube in and Voila !
I was shocked when I read these reviews. Dr Rizzo and his staff was extremely helpful and on time. I went to the hospital twice and no one could help me. They just gave me drugs and sent me on my way. I was referred to Rizzo and was in the room within 5 minutes of arriving and he saw me within 3 minutes. Wish I had read these reviews first before I wasted time and money with this doctor. The whole office is very dysfunctional and needs tremendous improvement. Actually I am probably fortunate that I am just giving up and looking elsewhere for my surgery. I’m done.
I have tried to make an appointment, twice in the span of a few months. The first time I called, the male that answered, said that he did not know if they took my insurance. So I asked him who would be the person that would know? He said it was him!?? The second time, after waiting a few months, I called again. I was put on hold for over 15 minutes and finally gave up. The worst experience I've ever had.dr Brian Rizzo just doesn't even seem like he wants to be at work. he doesn't care at all what the patient is going through he just gueses everything to get you out of his office quick. I went there today for a small procedure to remove a small growth on my uvula. And let me remind you I've waited a whole month to get it out. I go in today and he's just miserable like usual he does the procedure and doesn't explain anything or comfort me as to what he thinks this growth is he just said come back 2-3 weeks. But i call back a few hours after and speak to the front desk because he didn't explain anything to me and the guy on the phone looks up my name and tells me I have a malignant something????? How would the front desk know my test results don't come back till 3-4 days. And I call back again so confused and another front desk lady answers with so much attitude and just miserable as well saying she can't do anything except send another message to the Dr. Well if I do have a malignant anything why didn't the stupid Dr let me know in the office and help me understand what my next steps should be. I highly recommend Dr. Rizzo and his staff. I have been going to him for 10+ years and he has taken care of every one of my needs. While it is true that he and his staff are very busy, be patient. They will always take the time to help you with what you need.

My daughter has had multiple ear issues and Dr. Rizzo was gentle and took care of her. He cleaned out her ear without hurting her which is a first for her! Highly Reccomend!
I almost called and canceled my daughter’s appointment after reading such negative reviews. I ended up keeping our appointment, but was very skeptical going in. The office staff was friendly and we didn’t have to wait too long before being called to a room. Dr. Rizzo was incredibly kind to my fifteen year old daughter who was being seen for unresolved speech issues. He sat down and talked directly to her about what bothered her and then checked for tongue tie, etc. He gave us advice on what we could do to improve her speech, but also told her that she is okay just the way she is which meant the world to me. My daughter left there with her head held high because Dr. Rizzo took the time to not only be a doctor, but a human being as well. I would recommend this office to anyone. Surgery of nose and nasal passages. An amazing and talented surgeon, would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an ENT Dr and surgeon.
Dr. Rizzo not only performed surgery on my mom, removing a nodule on top of her thyroid (thankfully non-cancerous), but he also has taken care of both my husband and me on a number of occasions. He is no-nonsense, explains conditions and treatments thoroughly, and has been a life-saver for us on several occasions, taking care of my husband's allergy and breathing issues and my vertigo and recent ear problems. excellent care for a difficult situation. Dr. Rizzo & staff are great and I feel much better. If you are lucky enough to see this doctor, do it. Dr Rizzo is pretty good at what he does, I think is the front desk maybe not calculating or better managing time & scheduling? I'm not exaggerating they make you wait hour & a half to be seeing and that's with an appointment. Dr Rizzo thumbs up, front desk needs to be switched, bad habits, rude, not courteous employees
It is infuriating that someone who is supposedly a professional would ask people to sign acknowledgements to be on time and show up for appointments or be financially penalized and yet not prescribe to their own policies. We waited over an hour from our original appointment time and even inquired with the front office staff 15 minutes before finally deciding to leave, when we might expect to be seen by the doctor? At this time we witnessed the receptionist converse with the doctor (obviously not with a patient) and then return to advise us that it would be about ten minutes. Like other reviews for this practice, the staff are rude and the practice in general doesn't seem to care all that much about how they conduct business or "respect other peoples time." Even the office manager Lysa McBroom is disinterested to discuss our complaint. The culture and practice here is "anything but professional" and while I am sure they have lots of clients to see, they should be embarrassed by their lack of professionalism and behavior. Please stay far away from this practice. My son at the time 8 months old had continuous ear infections so he got tubes in his ear. He was still continuing to have nasal discharge and a cough. Dr. Rizzo said he needed his adenoids removed and that would fix it. The day of the procedure the nurse admitting him started trying to tell us how simple the ear tube procedure was, we explained he wasnt here for that. Then Dr. Rizzo comes in and starts telling us how the ear tube procedure is simple and quick. We told him he already had tubes in his ears from him months prior, he leaves and comes back and apologizes and said yes your right he is getting his adenoids removed. They almost did the wrong procedure! The surgery didn't work and my son kept getting sick. Dr. Rizzo stated to only go to him to handle this not our pediatrician since they weren't experts, everything he did didn't work. He looked at me and said "you need to just let me keep treating this they won't know what they are doing and your going to waste your money. I went anyway...first thing the allergist suggested was an xray. He had BRONCHITIS that was going months untreated because of this guy. My mom canceled appointments frequently that I was unaware of so here I was trying to schedule an appointment the very first time on my own after 3 years and the front desk kept telling me about there policy and how they refuse to schedule me an appointment. Y'all can feel my frustration.. I had no control of when my appointments were or why they were cancelled or even when they were scheduled for that matter. So I asked to speak to a manager and I've never spoke to such a rude front desk assistant. Cause first of all he's performed 3 major surgery's on my ears he knows all my medical history as far as my ears, I REFUSE to start with a new doctor. She informed me that the manager couldn't come to the phone I opted to wait and she said Manager would be busy for about another hour so I asked if it'd be better to call back within an hour she had the ugliest attitude of all time yet I still thanked her and she abruptly hung up on me. Yes, rude. I hear ya on the policy but under certain circumstances, this policy should not apply to me as I just turned 18 haven't lived with my mom since I was about 16. They need a new assistant or she just needs a new attitude (: I love love love Dr. Rizzo. 5 stars to him.. Both Dr Osborn and Dr Rizzo are great. However, we always wait at least 20 minutes or more to be seen.
Dr rizzo is amazing!!!! Patient and caring. Amazing with kids
Dr. Rizzo is probably the best ENT I've ever had. He cares deeply about his patients' welfare and is committed to serving them well. I have cholesteotoma and had to have surgery. He made sure that he got every last bit to ensure I wouldn't have to go through this again, at least not for several decades.
Awesome Doctor. He was so helpful with my Thyroid problem. He checked on me a few times after my surgery, which was very caring of him. Even though this was difficult for me, he made it a lot easier. I am forever grateful!

Great Doctor! Sinus pressure and pain fixed, once and for all! Forever grateful!
Brian Rizzo is the most unprofessional doctor I've even seen. He was cold and seemed bothered that I had more than 2 questions after I was told that he recommended me to have a partial and possible total thyroidectomy. Dr.Rizzo made me feel very uncomfortable. After I said I am considering a 2nd opinion he said if I felt that way then I should continue care with the doctor I would be seeing for the 2nd opinion. I felt bullied and uneasy.
He's one of those drs that doesn't listen, he knows everything and what you know is of no consequence even though its your body. The office staff is cold, they only respond at the end of the day no matter the issue. When I made my next apt they gave me a day and said they would call me with a time and like the others you have to call them back before end of day or they cancel your apt and they close at 4:30 so if you work you're outta luck. My wait time was 55 minutes too. There has to be so

Literally known as the "Butcher of Peoria" to the TOP DOCTORS (ENT), who are forced to attempt to fix his "art" of hacking away at your sinuses and nasal passages. This man has no respect in the otolaryngology field and has been reported to the medical board several times. He personally removed so much turbinate, that my nose collapsed and is UNREPAIRABLE, even by a plastic surgeon. I've talked to the 5 top doctors in AZ all who say the same thing, so my homework has been done. It's a wonder how he's eve still in practices. This man should have his patients operate on HIM. I'd volunteer first! His office staff are all liars as well and will protect him like he controls there livelihood.... oh wait.... We had surgery done on our 17 month old daughter from Dr Rizzo the other day at Surgical Elite in Avondale, and we had to wait at least an hour before being seen by him. Our daughter, on top of not eating for over 6 hours and crying non-stop begging for food, he for some reason took his surgical patients out of order, taking a child who came in later than us into surgery. When we got in to get ready for surgery, Rizzo was nowhere to be seen. We waited for another 45 min at least before finally seeing him at which point my daughter had fallen asleep from crying. I didn't see him after the surgery to talk to him about home care procedures etc. The nurses could not give a proper response to basic medical questions. We just rushed out of there as our daughter woke from anesthesia bawling, you can imagine how frustrating it was for parents to see your child that way and given little to no information on what's happening. The prescription he gave was also not clearly written and my pharmacy couldn't fill it right away. It seems like he schedules far more patients than he alone can easily accommodate and it really, really affects the quality of care. For young children that is totally unacceptable in my book! I agree with so many of the other reviewers. This has been nothing but a frustrating experience. I was referred to him by my PCP and at first visit felt very good about him. However everything afterwords has been nothing short of a nightmare. My surgery was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. but I didn't get back in there until 7:00 p.m. For a "simple procedure" as he called it, I didn't wake up until 10:00 p.m. in recovery. 3 days later I was taken to the ER for vertigo that was so bad it was like be in a Disneyland tea cup going 40 mph for an entire day. I was still in the hospital after being admitted when his office called me to tell me that I missed my appt and they were going to charge me. Even though I told her I'd been admitted to the hospital. And when I talked to Dr. Rizzo about the first thing out of his mouth is... I had nothing to do with that, I was no where near your inner ear. Seriously! I've never had vertigo in my entire life and now you are going to say it had nothing to do with my surgery. so a year and a half later, my tinnitus is worse, my hearing is worse and there is still some numbness around the incision area. I asked them to complete some paperwork because as a veteran I'd like to see if the VA could help out since now I need a hearing aid. AND they want to charge me $50 to complete the paperwork. Bad experience, bad office staff, bad physician... just stay away!!! Oh and PS, I found out later that a co-workers wife had nasal surgery from him prior to my ear surgery and she had nothing but problems too. Rizzo did the same thing with her, blew it off like he had nothing to do with it. I agree with so many of the other reviewers. This has been nothing but a frustrating experience. Dr. Rizzo put tubes in both of my ears. My hearing has improved greatly.
I love Dr Rizzo! Dislike his staff but couldn't ask for a better ENT.
