Dr. Carla Adriana Lucacel

We have been going to this practice (5 years) since my daughter was born. We were very sad when Dr. Christina Gallus left, but we decided to stay since this is only a 5 minute walk from our home. I cannot bec to differ with others that the staff is unprofessional and extremely rude. When you call they always seem to have an attitude and you will be put on hold for long periods of time. For a pediatric office we expect better. Wait times are reasonable and getting an emergency appointment is mostly always possible, which is a plus. Dr. Carla is the most knowledgeable one, but we do not care much for her bedside manner. My daughter feels more comfortable seeing Dr. Nicole the PA. They promote the app Healow, but when you send them a message you can wait days before you get a response back.

Very professional staff and Doctor Carla Lucacel it is a very good pediatrician with lots of experience with kids. We are very glad to find such a good doctor for our baby girl.

Doctor is knowledgeable her staff is the worst. The most unprofessional entitle staff, patient is definitely not first in the office. Staff also withholds information from doctor.

Excellent!!! We love Sunnyside pediatrics. We have been going for 3 years since our daughter was born. We love the care our girls receive. They are always very thorough, organized and clear. I brought both of my kids here for ten years until I left NYC for NJ during Covid. Dr Lucacell is great and the new younger doctor is absolutely stellar but the front desk girls don't smile and are very unpleasant. In a city of millions of people I am confounded why Lucacell doesn't hire warm and welcoming receptionists. It is a children's pediatric afterall :/ I brought both of my kids here for ten years until I left NYC for NJ during Covid. At first we were very pleased with the practice. Dr Lucăcel and dr. Gallus were very friendly and informative. Always took time to sit with us and talk through all the details. Recently we found out dr Gallus is no longer with the practice and dr Lucacel (for who we chose the practice in the first place ) is only taking patients once a week or so. The new doctor unfortunately doesn’t seem to knowledgeable, she misdiagnosed my son and kept asking to go back and forth for more investigations. After the 3rd visit we decided to ask for a second opinion just to find out that the investigation they were doing, not only was not required at his age only in exceptional cases, but anyway his result was in a normal range and didn’t require any action like indicated by them. Not only once we were given the impression that we were called in for discussions just so they could bill us. And as many other people complain, the front desk ladies are totally rude and not helpful.. but that wouldn’t have such a big issue if the doctors were ok. In the end we decided to switch to a different doctor and unless they improve the current situation I do not recommend them for your child. At first we were very pleased with the practice. Trustful, knowledgeable and caring. All the qualities a pediatrician could have. She treats my soon very well, no wonder he is always happy when we have to go to see the dr.

Front staff are nightmare, if you have to call them for any reason what so ever they WILL put you on hold for long time and finally when they get to the phone they have already forgotten why you have called, VERY unprofessional staff, the front staff needs to be cleaned housed ASAP.

I love Dr. Lucacel! She the most understanding pediatrician I’ve ever come across. She respects your culture, decisions for your child, and is super knowledgeable. I’m so glad my midwife referred me to her.

Really bad wait time even after apt I had to wait 2.5 hours even after I made an appointment. The appointment was not available for 2 weeks. Ridiculous wait time and then the doctor sees you for not even 10 min. The rep says if i have not seen the Dr for 6 months than I must have seen someone else. The Dr. Lucacel is very friendly informative and has a great bedside manner. Unfortunately, the staff isn’t so friendly. I always smile and greet them and they look at me like I’m not supposed to? It happens every time I come here. I stay because Dr Lucacel is an exceptional doctor.

My son and I were nervous about seeing a new pediatric doctor , but as soon as we met Dr Lucacel , we were both very happy with our choice. Not only is she very knowledgeable , but her kind and gentle manner will put even the most anxious patient at ease. And even though my son had to have two vaccines and bloodwork done, he proclaimed right after our appointment that it " was the most fun he ever had at the doctors office" . Dr Lucacel took the time to explain all the procedures to him, and treated him with dignity and respect . My eleven years old son will stay with Dr Lucacel until one day she will tell him that he aged out and does not have to see a "kids' doctor anymore. Until then we are more than happy to travel form Long Island to her office in Queens. She’s by far the most outstanding doctor I have ever had. She’s very sweet, gentle and understanding. She explains everything to you, and is great with kids. The staff are amazing and nice and the place is extremely clean and kept neat. Walk ins are allowed and there is hardly any wait time. Doctor was fine. But the girls at the front desk are a nightmare. They're extremely unorganized, will make you wait over an hour even when you have an appointment. Then they send you to the room which makes you think you'll see the doctor but you'll just wait in a room alone for another hour and a half. I wish I was exaggerating. Then they send you to another room to wait for about 45 minutes (that's being nice too) then they'll send over the doctor. No issues with the doctor. But the scheduling, the wait times, the rudeness from the front desk girls is INSANE. I never leave reviews but I had to because I've never experienced such awful service. Attentive, caring Drs and staff. Very good with our twins! They take the time to explain everything to us, making sure we understand what is going on medically and developmentally. We are very pleased with Dr. Carla and Dr. Christine!

Dr. Lucacel and Dr. Cristina are amazing! They treat my daughter so well and they really take the time to build a great relationship. My daughter loves them. Just had a really unprofessional experience with her clinic. My son was scheduled for a yearly physical. I provided the physical examination form to the clinic to be filled as a requirement for his school. I was told the document will be ready within 3 business days. I requested for the clinic to fax it over to his school given that as a full time working mom I don't have time to pick up the form in her clinic in time before the deadline to complete my son's documents required by his school. The day came where I expected his physical to be faxed over to his school, and it was brought to my attention that this was not done. I called the clinic to find out that they need to re-do one of his blood work because they did not get enough blood from him. If I didn't call I would not know that there has been issues/delays. They asked us to go back to the clinic to finish the physical test the next day. We went to the clinic and was directed to a room by a nurse and she prepared the blood test. I inquired about his physical form issue so the nurse got his documents and to find out in his records (that the nurses overlooked) he took this test a few months prior and that HE DIDNT NEED TO GET ANY TESTS DONE. As any parent would look for a pediatrician's clinic, reliable, organized and full proof system where they ensure the health and safety of EVERY PATIENT they see. I am only thankful that their mistake was not severe that could have led to endangering my sons health. This is not a review to post hate on their system. Parents, use my experience as a caution when you are at their clinic. They cover high volume of patients and this can result to human errors but when your child's health is on the line, always be pro-active and ask questions. Dr. Lucacel always makes room for our daughter when she's sick. Great demeanor and manner, puts new parents worries at ease. Sometimes the wait is longer than expected with an appointment, but that goes hand in hand with seeing patients on short notice. Great doctor.

Professional, reliable and now with more doctors on her clinic( Dr Cristina) makes everything much easier. I called few times when the doctors was off and I did appreciate her prompt response calling me back with health advise for my baby. Dr. Lucacel was my pediatric doctor and she was the best!!! She is now my little sister's doctor and is always so caring and kind to her patients. She really cares about them and is always so helpful. I highly recommend her to anyone!!! (P.S I'm 26 years old now and she has maintained the same level of excellence since she was my doctor till now with my little sister) She's AMAZING!!!! Always excellent service, by attentive and caring staff.

We truly love this office and Dr. Carla. The wait times are very short, even when it's busy the wait is reasonable. She is great with my kids and super patient. If you are looking for a pediatrician I definitely recommend Dr. Carla Lucacel.

Dr. Lucacel is a dedicated professional with very fine medical abilities. She is warm, sensitive, and calmly explains to my son what she will be doing before any procedure. I trust her and follow her advice because she shows concerns about my son's overall well-being. Excellent doctor.

I like Dr.Lucacel and trust her opinion regarding our daughter. She is always very nice and takes the time to explain us about any issues that may come up and also respond to our inquires. Also, I get to see her on the same day if I need to in case of emergency and the wait time during the week is not bad about 10 min.

She will do unnecessary testing and bring you in just to charge you. Her office overcharged me on my co-pays and were unpleasant about admitting their mistake. Furthermore, be prepared to wait OVER an hour many days and the staff will not update you as to time. Try waiting 90 minutes with two kids in her office--not fun. Super unorganized and the Dr. Lucacel is very condescending. We changed Drs and are much happier.

I disagreed with her diagnosis and went to another doctor. Turned out, she was wrong, but never admitted it. Her education/training must be out of date. She is very ignorant of breastfeeding information. She seems like the kind of pediatrician who could never have kids herself but acts like she is an expert in parenting. She will talk down to you for sure, I guess because she is not solid on her facts so she will say anything to defend her bad diagnosis. Not a good doctor.
