If I could give 0 stars I would. After suffering a miscarriage and experiencing a bought of depression I attended this doctor's office. It was the worst experience with a doctor I can recall in my life to that date. Instead of helping me overcome and recover, the woman named Tonia Smith was quite vocal with her distaste for my life decisions. She proceeded to tell me I do not need to have babies. I am not going to make a good mother and harshly judge my life after speaking with me for about an hour. What I have to say is Tonia, you are the one with problems, you should not be treating patients, you should have your medical license revoked and you should book an appointment with someone to assess your mental health. You are a rude, angry and sad woman who must have a miserable existence. I feel very sorry for you.

If I could give 0 stars I would. First time ever coming to Dr. Grant I had an appointment at 11 and had to wait until 1:30 to talk to him after the nurse continued to say he was running “a FEW MINUTES behind.” Now today for my follow up appointment I’m having even more issues. Was supposed to see him at 1, called at 1:15 to see how long it would be and the lady stated he was going to call me soon. Waiting until 2:20 still without any call. Called the office for them to say my appointment was cancelled even though they never called to notify me or let me know even though I’ve been waiting yet again over an hour. Extremely unprofessional and never call at scheduled appointment time. If you’re planning on scheduling with Dr. Grant make sure you take the whole day off because they don’t seem to care at all about your time. If I could give 0 stars I would. Has no compassion for patients. They just see you as a source of money. Grant ended up causing further trauma.
Staff is always very helpful and Dr. grant is great!
I recently had my initial visit with Dr. Grant. Now I have seen my fair share of physiatrists, so this wasn't my first rodeo. But I will say that this is the first time that my visit didn't feel so "transactional". Someone from the office called me before my appointment to get some background and I could tell that he had actually reviewed it prior to our session. We worked together to figure out a med regimen that would work. He also referred me to an awesome therapist that I've already met with--after months of difficulty connecting with one. Fast forward 2 weeks--my ADHD meds were due to be filled so I called my pharmacy to check on the rx. The pharm tech told me that they didn't have any rx on file from The Grant Group. So I called the office at 4p on a Thursday (mind you they are closed on Fridays) and asked that the rx be sent over. The staff member couldn't tell me when that would happen, so I was sure I would have to go the weekend without my meds. I went ahead and contacted my pharmacy this morning (fri) and my meds were ready for pick up! I was so surprised. That is definitely not the level of service I've experienced with other psychiatrist's offices. I would 100% recommend Dr. Grant and The Grant Group to anyone needing psychiatric care. Had my initial assessment and decided I could not continue treatment here. The reasons for this decision are various. I was referred to Dr. Grant from a psychologist I had recently been seeing. If your virtual appointment is scheduled at 9am, they do not tell you that you may not speak to Dr. Grant himself until an hour and a half later (literally), so in my case, 10:30am. This is a problem if you are a working professional who requested paid time off in order to attend your appointment, virtual or not. After receiving clarification that the window when you may speak to someone is anytime between the scheduled appointment time to up to an hour and a half later, we had to reschedule my initial assessment because I returned to work. The new appointment day came, and the appointment was scheduled for 11:00am. I received a call around 11:40 from an intake specialist who asked me basic questions and did not hear from Dr. Grant himself until 12:30pm, a full hour and a half after my (re)scheduled appointment time. Prior to meeting me, Dr. Grant received my in-depth psychological assessment results from my psychologist. Those notes detail my struggle with body dysmorphia/an eating disorder, and Dr. Grant still prescribed me a medication that has a primary side effect of significant weight gain. In total, my conversation with Dr. Grant lasted about 6-7 minutes before he dismissed me. Ultimately, I did not feel that Dr. Grant read my report nor respected my time based on our interaction. My rating is 2/5 stars only because the front office staff members are kind and managed to schedule my visit within the same week I called. This is impressive, though I imagine at the cost of more individualized care for those who may need it. Had my initial assessment and decided I could not continue treatment here. Dr. Grant was very helpful with my daughter and her ADHD diagnosis. I'm leaving a review though to specify for anyone seeking him for care - we recently switched to Cigna, and this page isn't accurate. The TMS part of his office accepts Cigna, but the psychiatry office does not.
Dr. Grant is my doctor. He and his staff is a God send!!! They are the nicest people and very awesome bedside manners!!! I thank God for Dr. Grant and his team, without them I don't know where I would be today!!! I recommend Dr. Grant and his team to the utmost best. I give them 10+ stars!!!
Everyone I speak to in Dr Grant's office makes me feel like they really care about me, everyone! I have my appointments with Debra and when I finish talking with her I always have a better mental outlook on everything. A huge thank you to the entire staff!
Not mine but, my daughters. I went with her for a few of her appointments and they didn’t last very long. He always refills her prescription that’s about all . Now Stephanie is on Zoloft and paranoid as she can be . This man is a pill pusher that’s about all! He needs to find out before he prescribes again! The rest of us have to live with her! 15 years on Zoloft.
We had 3 appointments with him. He made us wait an hour each time even though we were the earliest patients. Then he prescribed controlled substances that another doctor was already dispensing. He is old and careless. We had enough and fired him after waiting 90 minutes on our 3rd visit.
He overprescribed me antidepressants to the point of inducing mania. Then he decided not to tell me that his treatment for my mania would almost inevitably result in a major depressive episode. Because of this, I wasted thousands of dollars on a semester of school that was impossible to complete in my extremely depressed state. Then, after I started to feel better, I warned him with the exact same cues he should have picked up on the first time that I was starting to become manic; namely that I was in a 10/10 mood for much of the month. This failed to register with him, and he blithely continued to prescribe the same regiment that would have lead to another manic episode. When I brought this up to one of his surrogates, she promptly tried to write me yet another prescription instead of titrating downward. This has led me to the firm belief that Dr. Cathal Grant's practice is not devoted to prescribing medication to patients with the sole intent of increasing their wellness, but rather with the intent of increasing his own bank account. Dr. Grant and Dr. Erin are awesome. Dr. Grant is very professional and Dr. Erin is so nice and personable. I’ve seen Dr. Debra a few times and depending on how she feels that day will determine how you’re treated (below average which is tolerable; or judged and belittled). The two ladies at the front desk have (on countless occasions) given me the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever experienced anywhere. I only call because I was told to in order to renew my prescription each month. Every time I call they are very rude as if I’m wasting their time. They definitely need to work on their tones and the way they talk to patients. I’m beyond shocked that either of them still work here, I’m sure they’ve had many complaints before myself. I have seen Dr Grant, Debra, and another Dr, unfortunately I don't recall her name. They have all been kind and helpful. Dr Grant has the best bedside manner I have ever experienced. No matter how jaded about the world I am in the moment, I always leave feeling like it will all be okay. The problem with this practice is the front office staff, they are sneery, rude, incompetent, and unprofessional. I got new insurance and they couldn't even tell me if they accepted it, the lady I asked literally barked at me to call my carrier, then hung up on me. Thank goodness they are now offering virtual visits in perpetuity, otherwise I might give up on this practice just to avoid the office staff. Have loved Dr Grant and his associates so far. First appointment went great, they let me know I'd get a call from the front office to check in about ten minutes prior, then the Dr would call, which is exactly how it went. Front office was friendly, and my first appointment went smoothly. The second appointment I was told the same thing, however, 2 minutes into my appointment time, I had received no call. Considering I was anticipating a call before the appointment, I called to make sure my time was correct, and the front office didn't need anything confirmed on their end. Whoever I spoke with was so ready to have a response, she didn't stop to listen, lecturing me about how it was only 2 minutes past the appointment time. I explained I was anticipating a call before the appointment as discussed, but she didn't seem to hear that, or didn't care to. When I inquired about an EOB saying I should pay nothing out of pocket for my visits, and thus should be refunded the amount from last time, she completely disregarded what I said and said the credit was actually an advanced payment for my visit today. I kept trying to explain it was not, but she seemed so ready to be off the phone, I'm not sure she heard. I really love the clinician staff, and will continue coming, but I would really like to see the same friendly standard of care throughout the office at future visits. I was hesitant to see a new psychiatrist after a negative prior experience, but my experience with Dr. Grant and his entire staff has been fantastic! The receptionist that I scheduled with was very kind and helpful. The Dr is rude!
Extremely rude office. Found out that they did not take my insurance. I could have still payed with cash but the piece of work front desk associate hung up on me. I am happy to not do business with this prison clinic.
I can’t stand this anymore. I’ve been here since I was in high school, and now I’m graduating college and getting married if that gives you an idea. Every receptionist here is really rude and makes me uncomfortable every time like I’m bothering them. On the phone or in person, they are just extremely rude like they don’t have time for you. They are also NEVER on time. I don’t mean by a few minutes. My appointment this morning was at 10:15. I’m still sitting here in the waiting room at 11:50. This is not uncommon to be waiting an hour after your scheduled appointment time. Lastly, I am never given enough refills. They’re only open Mon-Thursday so when I find out on a Friday that I wasn’t given any refills with an appointment in 3 months, I’m stuck. I’ve gone weekends (I only work weekends) without more than 3 hours of sleep because I couldn’t get my insomnia medication! Alex was amazing and did everything right, but she left. WOW WOW WOW- you know when you hear about those horrible doctors in horror movies and think no one can be that reckless with their practice? Well this is one of them. If you want any kind of proper diagnosis, do not go to this doctor. If you sick and really need psychiatric help but in denial about it, then visit Dr Grant and you can just pay this doctor and he will write up whatever recommendation you want so that you have clearance to go back to work. Plus he has total disregard to any family or friends who accompany the patient even when they have power of attorney and detailed notes of a patient's well being. Erin Willbanks is great and I like Dr. Grant as well. The office staff is not friendly and very short with you. A smile would be nice every once in awhile. The waiting rooms need a lot of updating! Very old office. I gave 4 stars for Erin and Dr. Grant, otherwise I would've given it 1 star!
Can the receptionists behind the glass please have more respect the patients here and quiet their loud mouths? Keep the negative shop talk to a minimum. People can hear everything these women say right behind the glass. They have awful attitudes. Honestly if Dr. Grant, Dr. Willbanks, his the team of Doctor's, and nurse practitioners weren't so dang wonderful I'd never step foot in this office again. Dr Grant has done a great job managing my medication, and that for my children. He's got a dry sense of humor that worked really well for us. I've seen one of his PA's, and my son saw a different one. Scheduling has been good, and we each got along well with the clinician oversee our medicine. I really felt that he had a good touch with medication. My son went thru a hard period, and was struggling for a bit, and Dr. Grant used a lot of caution in adjusting medication. Dr. Grant is a pompous jerk. He suffers from "I'm a God syndrome". EDIT 4//24/19 Curious as to negative “pill farm” reviews- (I’m referring to medicine that actually works/DEA highly regulated including narcotics, etc.). The only thing that I can reference is the liberal prescribing of unnecessary psychotropic medication for unknown, theorized, & possible psychological conditions that are diagnosed in 1 visit. For example, this doctor did not want to prescribe medication that actually treated my ADHD. Because apparently, if you need that medication you’re an addict or something.?! I had a horrifying experience here. First and foremost, I can concur that Dr Grant is - innattentive, rude etc treated me like I was a burden (this was my first visit!!) would cut me off and interupt while I was speaking. I came in to get my Panic Disorder/Bipolar Disorder treated and actually left with a panic attack!!!! He was more concerned with drug testing me for POT, than he was actually treating my mental health. This is where it gets weird.... Keep in mind, I have my 2 year old daughter with me and we’ve already been here for 2+ HOURS! He asks me to take a U/A, and I asked if I could take it on my next appointment because I didn’t need to use the restroom, as I was there on an empty stomach, and also had my 2 year old with me. I give him several legitimate reasons why this was not a good time to take the U/A, (including personal health reasons) I was already late to picking up my fiancé from work, because I’ve been here for 2 hours already. He INSISTS that I try, and I tell him that I’m starting to get uncomfortable, because random STAFFERS kept coming up and asking if they could “watch my daughter” for a bit, and she’s already tired/gripey because it’s past her nap time. So after i unsuccessfully tried to urinate for him, they take me to another room and LOCK ME IN THERE. There were a few other people in there but this lobby was LOCKED!!! This is when, naturally I start panicking and shaking at the place where I’m suppose to get TREATED AT. Long story short I tell them I NEED to leave to pick up my fiancé and I’m not planning on going back. I ended up paying $175 for them to weigh me. No prescriptions. I can’t give zero stars but Dr. Grant treated and overmedicated me from 2008-2012. In 2012 he told me he couldn’t treat me because he did not specialize, treat nor believe in my diagnosis. When I was discharged from the hospital I received a letter saying he was dropping me because he did not treat my diagnosis and didn’t even refer me to anyone. He abandoned me during a very difficult time in my life which was the result of being under his care. I asked him why he had been prescribing me medicine that did more harm than good and had no problem taking my money for regular visits that did nothing but cause my mental health to decline. After I left him I found specialist who helped improve my mental state and have thrived. I have not required medication for three years and still go to weekly therapy. I’m highly functioning and have been able to maintain employment and even received promotions. While with him I was disabled and nonfunctional without care from others to even do simple tasks such as get out of bed, shower or even be awake long enough to do anything productive. Dr grant is great, but his Nurse practioners office is not only poorly run but they hold you hostage waiting for 45 minutes every time to visit. Great physician with lots of knowledge in his field. Awesome staff as well!
This doctor is great! I’ve been going to him for about a decade now. Dr. Grant and his staff take the time needed to address my needs and they are experts in their field. I never have to wait because if they are busy, I can be seen by another staff member if I choose to do so. I have had good experiences with all of Dr. Grant’s Staff. I highly recommend coming here!
Great physician who cares about his patients! Thanks for 10+ years of great service!
Excellent doctor
Never got to meet Dr. Grant. My daughter suffered for many years with depression and we are trying to find a new doctor because she is over medicated. They said they take our insurance and I verified it with our insurance. When we arrived, the office staff said they did not take our insurance and it would be out of network only. They would not even check or call to verify. Nice lady next to us stated that she has the same insurance and they have taken it with no issues for a couple of years.Nice
Dr. Grant is a knowledgeable, experienced, and generally a good doctor. However, when I had one of the worse crises of my life, he decided to stop seeing me a patient. He will only accompany you during the good times. If you want a doctor that is there when you are in pain, he is NOT the man for the job. Additionally, his staff has been there for 20+ years. This has made them complainant, extremely rude, and have lost the human touch needed for this expertise.

Love this office. I've been seeing Dr. Grant and/or Toni for over 10 years. They've always treated me with respect and dignity. Wouldn't go to anyone else.

This practice should not get even 3 stars. Family members have concerns and get patients to go to doctor but no one listens. Then patients have to go to hospital for something that could have been resolved sooner. Patients are just dollars walking in to their practice. There is no real concern for anyone.
I went in for bipolar with rage, and serious sleep problems and major anxiety. He told me to get a hobby for my anxiety and try talk therapy with a therapist. Thanks buddy. Glad you got an 8 year degree to tell me to color or watch movies. If I could control it with busy work....dont you think I would've???? Plus, he drug tested me because at age 19 I dabbled a bit in drugs. I'm 36. No use since. He's a joke with a cute accent. Would like to start this off with I've never in 12 years of having a gmail account have I written a review. My appt was 11a on 12/4/17. I wasn't seen until around noon. Not a new patient either. The nurse I saw had very poor communication skills. She did not listen to my concern, nor the primary reason I was there. She instead insisted on not listening to what my chief complaint was and instead taking on paternalistic decision for my complaints. I refused to take xanax, nor any other medication that I feel has sedated me in the past. However, the reason I went into see the office was for a reason that millions of Americans have as a diagnosis. She refused to even investigate or ask questions. Her sole basis for not pursuing my complaint was bc I finished school 4 years ago. That's it. No questionnaire, no basic clinical questions on the matter. It was simply, "you made it through school." I was no asking to be over medicated, nor have I ever. I was asking to have my complaint addressed. Which is why I paid the $100 fee. Apparently that $100 was just for a blood pressure and weight check. She did little on questions and was insistent on attempting to address my other complaints, which I did not want addressed because sedation is not a way of life. Her clinical skills are moot. How is that nurse able to practice medicine and not investigate a problem? I paid $100 for a blood pressure and weight check and a 2 min discussion in the office, without any investigation on my chief complaint. Her paternalistic actions were unacceptable, as well as her lack of listening skills. Her name was Deborah. Also, at the end of the appointment when I pointed out that my chief complaint was not being addressed, she became very sarcastic. If anything, this person made my medical issues worse by not only taking my money, but more importantly, not addressing my issues or listening to the patient, which is medicine 101. Apparently not where she obtained an education. Try NEJM and UPTODATE. Would like to start this off with I've never in 12 years of having a gmail account have I written a review. … More

(Dr. Cathal Grant)Great doctor! Really knows his stuff!!
These guys are on point. Really listened, were direct, and friendly. Looking forward to seeing these guys again.
Very nice staff and the Dr is great. He's very professional and I had very little time to wait. I was very pleased with the entire experience.
I had a good expierence. The doctor put me right back on the meds I was on before that the VA took me off of. Really quick and easy since I already had multiple diagnosis'.
Every single person in this office treated me with kindness & respect. They are an efficient machine with a big heart! Finally, a Doctor & Staff who REALLY care.
Dr. Grant has been a life saver for me and my son. He really listens to your problems so I don't know why others say the opposite. Path in life goes both ways, try being considerate as it's a busy office.
There is no better person to put your life's hands in than Peggy Addison for depression and dementia issues. TMS was suggested as a possible treatment. Once we found a location on Arlington we began at no cost to us, treatment which 3 weeks into it seems very helpful. One med has been cut back with positive results. This is a life's journey and there is no cure for depression as everyone who has it knows. But never stop seeking a better tomorrow. The folks here are very busy and the wait is well worth the peace of mind that Dr. Grant and his staff truly care about you! Dr Grant and all of his team are the best of what a mental health professional should be. They make you feel like family and are always able and willing to help even after hours and weekends. They helped find a program for my daughter to bring my copay for her medicine (my insurance wanted me to pay $464 as my portion) to $20 a month. They are amazing and caring beyond words. Dr. Grant and his office are great. The receptionists and check-out personnel are always kind to me. I have only met with Dr. Grant once, but he was very helpful. I used to see a nurse practitioner who was nice, but not very personable. Now I see Alex Chapman. She is upbeat and remembers/records things I mention during visits. She often follows up on things I've mentioned, and I appreciate that. Any time I have had an issue with a medication and called the office, the office personnel seem to take my concerns seriously and my nurse practitioner returns my call when possible.
