I liked Dr. Cottrel and his staff; however, after my procedure I was not told what to expect, how long before I could lift items and any issues that might pose a problem. I was given several prescriptions to fill but no one gave me any explanation as to why I was being given these. The pain meds were obvious but two others were not explained as to why I might need them. Also I thought that perhaps the doctor or someone from his office would contact me the next day to follow up and see how I was doing but nothing. I found out more information when I went to my follow up visit not with the doctor but with an associate. So the initial care was good but the after care was lacking. I had a teleconference call with Dr Christopher Cottrell and I am very thankful that he listened to me about all my concerns and answered all my questions before hiatal hernia surgery.

Nice clean ambience at the doctors office, cordial and helping staff and nurses, Doctor was thorough in his approach and i didn't face any difficulty whatsoever. I must grade it a Great experience!

I like this doc! Nice, straight to the point and engaging. Sounds like I'm grading him on a low bar, but whatever bar, he's worth the visit.

Dr Cottrell is very knowledgable, and has a lot of experience. If you're going to get a TIF done, come to him.

Dr. Cottrell was fantastic. He explained what my issue and how it would be repaired in surgery.

This was my first visit with the office, the staff is very friendly, Doctor Cottrell and his PA took the time to listen to me and explained what I needed to have competed. Overall it was a Great experience.

Dr. Cottrell and his staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you comfortable. If I have an issue, they are quick to get you in and check it out.

Detail and patient education is critical. Dr. Cottrell was patient and connected the dots so I fully understood the data and “reason why” fully meeting my expectations.

This is my third surgery with Dr. Christopher Cottrell, and I am absolutely convinced he is one of the best general surgeons in Texas. He is thorough, explains things in detail, makes you aware of risks, and genuinely cares about your recovery and well-being. The services that I receive from Advanced Surgical of NT is excellent. Dr. Chris J Cottrell did a great job of removal of my gallbladder. Wonderful experience with Advanced Surgical of North Texas . Great medical office, wonderful and warm experience from start to finish. Great experience as a first timer. Dr. Cottrell has extensive experience with the minimal invasive robotic surgery platform. I was fortunate to have Dr Cottrelll as my surgeon for what was apparently a complicated procedure to repair a hiatal hernia. Prior to surgery he spent considerable time explaining the process including drawing on the white board. He answered all questions thoroughly until I was comfortably at ease. Unfortunately i had a more difficult recovery and spent 3 nights in the hospital. He visited me 3 times to discuss my progress and once discharged was available by phone. The first few days were difficult and he was with me each step of the way. I am now 3 weeks out and feeling great. Everyone on his staff has been awesome from the ease of making appointments, timeliness once at the office and kind concern from all. I would highly recommend him!! I am very grateful to Dr. Cottrell for being a great Doctor and surgeon! I had GI issues, I could not eat or drink. Thanks to Dr. Cottrell’s skill set, I had a successful surgery and my recovery has been great as well. Thank you Dr. Cottrell and Physician Assistant Phuong Cao!

Terrible patient communication skills! Come with a bag of money, all Cottrell cared about was getting paid! I was in excruciating pain and I never heard back from him or his office! I would NEVER recommend him to anyone!

Went in last Monday for the first time with my issue, and he got me in to surgery the day after Thanksgiving to help me out (4 days after initial appt)! Very fortunate he worked with me to help during the holiday break! Would highly recommend!

Couldn’t be more pleased with Dr. Cottrell’s skill and especially his concern. We discussed every option prior to the procedure and was pleased he always supported my need to be as un-invasive as possible. Great bedside manner and front office personnel.

This December was the second time I needed surgery. The first, was last December, and was for an emergency appendectomy. Dr. Cottrell was the surgeon who helped me at McKinney Methodist. This December Dr. Cottrell helped to fix a number of hernias that occurred around the insision site. The operation was at Medical City Frisco, which by the way was an amazing facility. The surgery went off without a hitch. The after care was good and he always took the time with his PA Phang (I'm sure it's mispelled but she was great) to answer any questions or concerns. Terrible Doctor I would have died waiting for him to call me back. Greedy and money hungry! Make sure you bring a bag of money for his $450 office visit. He has a god-like ego but he lacks compassion and caring. Find another doctor!!

Dr. Cottrell was in the Allen and McKinney office when I saw him in April of 2019. I had surgery to repair my hernia and the TIF procedure for the horrible reflux that I suffered from. I literally could not sleep without waking up choking on stomach acid. I was informed that I would need to be on a liquid diet for 8-12 weeks. I had my surgery and unfortunately had a partially collapsed lung from the surgery. I followed the instructions for the diet but healed much more quickly than expected. It has only been 6 weeks and I am back to eating everything again. I had pepperoni pizza and it was amazing! Haven't had that in 5 years! No heartburn no reflux, no medicine! I am so thrilled!!!! Dr. Cottrell took my case when no one else would. He is a kind and gifted doctor/surgeon. He has a great sense of humor but gets down to business when it’s time. Dr. Cottrell was wonderful!!! He and his team were extremely helpful throughout the entire process of my double hernia repair. He was very knowledgeable and shared what he would be doing and all the necessary info each step of the way. The procedure went seamlessly and I’ve recovered quicker than I imagined! His assistant Mark was great as well, was available over the phone when I had Questions and was helpful in answering all of them and making me feel at ease. Love this doctor! he has taken care of my dad since 2007! because of Dr. Cottrell my dad is still with us today!.
