The phenomenal results of my total knee replacement (TKR) surgery performed December 2022 by Dr. Colin Poole at Treasure Valley Hospital are well worth the wait to get in. Within a month (and diligent physical therapy) my knee is like new - even my scar is unbelievable. My experience start to finish has been so positive that I was actually looking forward to TKR on my other knee 3 months later. I had to postpone my other knee due to a family emergency, but will consider no other surgeon. If you want exceptional service from surgeon, staff, nursing, physician’s assistant and hospital staff and facilities, I truly doubt you will find better than I experienced with Dr. Poole.

I've been seeing Dr. Poole and staff since 2014. He and his PA's, nurses, receptionists, etc. are all respectful, friendly, and kind. They all listen to concerns and they don't ignore answering the questions. As for surgery, I put off my right knee surgery for 5 years as I was chicken. I regretted putting it off as it got so much worse. I followed every instruction to the letter. Before, during, and after surgical procedure. My recovery was great. I was walking without my walker by 2 weeks. I have never had pain again in right knee until a fall when I hurt the knee. I'm getting the left knee done soon. I would recommend Dr. Poole and staff to anyone getting a hip or knee replaced.

Dr Poole has replaced both my knees and now my hip! I wouldn’t trust anyone else, and he has been more than kind to me! He truly cares, and he is an incredible surgeon and person! I enjoy seeing him, he is so pleasant and caring! Dr Pooled staff is amazing as well! Shanee and Renae are top notch, and so caring, professional and most of all making me feel that I am welcomed and taken care of! They are always so responsive and prompt with any questions I may have or medical advice. I look forward to my appointments just to see this wonderful staff! I have always had the best possible experience, over the years! I appreciate him and his staff so much! I highly recommend Dr Poole he will not disappoint.

Dr Poole did 2 knee replacements on me 1 in 2000 and 6 months later and I have had no problems. He is a super Dr.

Dr Poole did 2 knee replacements on my wife. Both times she waited 6 mos to get an appt. Why? Dr Poole is at the top of his craft. If not the best in Boise I gather he is in top 3 for knees. I don't know anything about his hip surgeries. My only complaint is my he would not give my wife more opiate pain meds for her outstanding preop pain she endured for 6 months because the absurd Board of Pharmacy has to investigate opiate usage. Shame on the BOP. Otherwise, Dr Poole, as a health professional, is excellent and I have no idea why anything than 5 stars should be noted.

Poole is suppose to be one of the top joint replacement drs. Due to his ego he doesn’t want to hear anything negative regarding his surgery. I told him many times my knee continues to give me problems. His only answer is ice it. He gave me a steroid shot in it after I continued to complain, I then went to him complaining of swelling, again ice and elevate. After two weeks I could no longer walk. I found out from another dr. I had a severe infection in it. I had to have surgery the next morning. Almost lost my leg.

I was supposed to have surgery for a hip replaced March 30 but it was cancel due to Covid-19 I visited Dr. Pooles office during the pandemic on May 26th, not one person working in the office was wearing a mask-even though that was the clear CDC recommendation. They rescheduled my surgery for June and when Renee called to schedule my surgery I explained my concerns. She was extremely rude and at one point even said, “if you come into our office we aren’t going to ask you why you are wearing a mask!” I guess implying I should not have been asking those questions. I wrote Dr. Poole to tell him I had canceled my surgery and how rude Renee had been, but instead of Dr. Poole responding, his nurse used her email and allowed Renee to respond. I feel this was very inappropriate. The email was for the doctor not Renee. I believe Dr. Poole never even received the message.

The surgery he performed was a failure. Knee was much better before the surgery. His understanding and caring about the patient is nil. He should not be a doctor.

Dr. Collin E. Poole is a top notch surgeon. I did my homework and he is absolutely one of the best in the area. Long wait time but it’s worth it to get the right surgeon. I’ve had both knees replaced by Dr. Poole. The outcomes have been better than I even hoped for. Both knees are strong, no pain, and should last me a long time. As a bonus, he’s got a great bedside manner.

Dr Poole did my hip joint replacement Dec 2019. I thank God for him! I was in so much excruciating pain for a year & a half I was miserable. I couldn’t live life like I was used to. I was relegated to using a cane and a scooter in the stores & laying in bed for a great amount of time. At age 58, I was surprised at how bad my hip was from arthritis & possibly from my now retired job. I was scheduled for surgery in Oct 2018 but another surgeon backed out at the last minute due to my heart issues. Left with deep depression I made an appointment with Dr Poole. Yes, I waited 6 months to see him. After consulting/X-rays with Dr Poole he said he was confident I would be fine during the surgery unlike the previous surgeon who got cold feet. I had the surgery the beginning of Dec 2019. It’s now been one month after surgery. I am walking without a cane and no pain! A true expert in his field. Kind, compassionate & confident. Love Dr Poole for giving me my quality of life back. Forever grateful.

I called to make an appointment with Dr Poole (My Dr recommended him). Well, the lady I spoke with said there is some criteria to being his patient. 1) Diagnosis that requires knee replacement. 2) Hemoglobin A1C under 7.0 and 3) BMI under 40. I meet two of the three. My BMI is higher than his criteria. I asked about this and she said no exceptions, lose the weight. WHAT?! How can I lose weight if I can't walk because of my knee giving out on a daily basis. I had surgery on it 35 years ago and need it again. He will not take you if you are overweight. He wants the perfect patient so his success rates will be higher. I thought Dr's were supposed to help people. He seems to want to pick and choose who he wants to help.

Dr Poole replaced my right hip with an anterior approach 10 days ago. He is an amazingly skilled and talented surgeon; his interest in his patients is reflected in a caring and compassionate bedside manner. His confidence and positive manner are contagious. Thankful for him as I move through this recovery. Excellent experience!

I cannot recommend Dr. Poole since he did my knee replacement 2 1/2 years ago. Since then I have spent over $2000 out of pocket on special treatments, tests, and physical therapy, yet my quality of life continues to deteriorate. His after surgery care was minimal and unhelpful despite my obvious impairments. At my last appointment with him 1 1/2 years after the surgery I was told "we don't need to see you again" and they haven't.

Several doctors said I needed a left hip and knee replacement. Poole replaced my hip and with his exercises, and six years later my knee is still fine.

Dr. Poole performed a total hip replacement on me at 63 years of age. His practice is a well-oiled machine. If you get in the best possible shape ahead of your surgery and follow his instructions you'll have a terrific recovery.

Fabulous care at all levels. Dr. POOLE listens carefully to all pain complaints then quickly works to ease the pain & find out the cause. All of his staff respect him greatly & they all have been friendly, caring & efficient at my appointments. I have recommended him to several friends & will continue to do so.

Dr Poole and Nicole, are very good at what they do. Very good communications as to what was going to happen.

Dr. Poole completed my total knee replacement at the end of July 2017 and did a fabulous job. I am delighted with my recovery and progress. He is a skilled surgeon who really cares about his patients.

Had another surgeon replace knee and then called out on family emergency. Dr. Poole stepped in to manage my care and was brilliant during hospital stay. Amazing bed side manner and got my pain under control - should have had him from the start and will have him replace other knee for sure. Cannot say enough about Dr. Poole - absolutely the best!

Excellent surgeon, maybe the best in the Treasure Valley. Replaced both my knees, 8 years apart, without any complications. Great listener and bedside manner.

Dr. Poole literally saved my life 16 years ago. Had a staph infection another orthopaedic surgeon had missed and he was on call and made the right call. Since then he's replaced a hip and a knee. I've moved so won't get to see him for my next hip replacement. He is amazing, personable, kind and extremely competent. I miss this doctor with the South African accent, great wit and incredible talent. I wish I could have seen him before I left Boise. Carroll Ann Kimsey

I'm 39 year old male who had both my hips replaced last year by Dr. Colin Poole. In my opinion he is a phenomenal surgeon! I am approaching a year since the last hip was done & feel fantastic! He is also great with his patients.

Absolutely terrible physician. Became offended when I asked about simple questions regarding my surgery, didn't care about me or my procedure at all. He was only interested in whether I could pay for my surgery. I'm a young, insured athlete and would never let him operate on me

Doctor Poole is wonderful !! ... a good person and a fantastic surgeon. Two hip replacements with fabulous results. Both times my experience with Dr. Poole was great. He is a very caring physician and has great skill. He and his staff are attentive and helpful. Long waits to get appointment but well worth it.
