Dr. Emmett is a fabulous doctor and surgeon. I had surgery to remove my prostate gland on April 17, 2002. I just passed the twenty year mark cancer free. My older brother died at age 62 in 1992 because he chose radiation therapy instead of surgery. He then had to undergo chemo and hormone therapy at M D Anderson. He lived 18 months.

I was apprehensive based on some of the other reviews, but since I was referred, I felt little choice but to keep the appointment. Should have followed my instinct ... the worst appointment I've ever had with a doctor. Having my case transferred to another specialist/clinic.

Very knowledgeable and polite

Husband saw him for 11+ years and would not hesitate to go again if needed.

I experienced none of the issues raised by others. My care was first class. Dr. Emmott was great to explain everything. Office staff helpful. I'm sure that in a busy practice there are going to be a few issues along the way. But I saw one patient loudly complaining about the fact that he'd been waiting for a half hour after signing in. When he showed the receptionist his appt. card he was right on time...he'd showed up a half hour early. I think most people that post are those that had the rare negative experience, the 100s that have a good one don't bother to post. I experienced none of the issues raised by others. Had an intense kidney stone surgery performed here. The doctor failed to prescribe me enough medication for all of my symptoms and pain. The doctor also failed to have a care plan for me, giving zero information on what to expect or when to be back into the office. Here's what you should expect after a procedure with this office, zero information on your health after a procedure, be informed you'll be called with a plan, never receive that call, call them, leave multiple messages for the nurse, and then never get called back because that's their process. When I finally broke down and started literally begging to some random receptionist to please inform me on anything he finally states that I'll simply have to tough it out until the doctor is off of vacation... in a week. When I asked if any staff member there could help me that it would be much appreciated because I was in such great pain and discomfort, he told me to go to another office... so I did. This was the only useful and helpful information I received from the place. Each staff member, including the doctor, not only had a different opinion on whether the stone was broken up and where it was located, but each sounded more unsure than the next of the information they were giving me. If you don't know, just admit you're a failure, don't tell me what I want to hear to shut me up. Dr. Emmott and his cronies were also strangely against recommending me to a specialist that could help discover why my body is creating stones, to the point of just flat out refusing. It was more like I was a paycheck than a patient. Why cure something when you could treat it with surgery every other year. His staff was consistently and completely unknowledgeable about both my current condition and the game plan to the point of it being almost comical. I admit it would have been funny to see a story like this on a tv sitcom, where a doctor and his entire staff are nonchalant about being incredibly uncaring and unprofessional to a patient who recently had surgery and needed to schedule another, but you know since it's my life I didn't find it all that funny. My next doctor was astonished by what and how much medication I was prescribed after my procedure. My new doctor also recommended me to multiple specialists to help with preventive care. My new doctor also did that bare minimum thing called a care plan, which I thought every health professional did, but Dr. Emmott's office clearly prefers the wing it approach. If you've stuck in this long, you could have come to the conclusion that I had a bad one time experience and I was just unlucky and every staff member of that office must have been having an off week, but this is my second procedure here. The first time wasn't as bad as this time, but it wasn't even close to pleasant, I thought everyone in the office was just having an off week. That isn't enough? Well I also received PERMANENT DAMAGE from my procedure here. I could understand VERY slightly if I couldn't afford their "treatment", a bad customer who doesn't have insurance and never pays, but I have awesome health insurance and I do pay. If was failing to pay that would at least give them some kind of an excuse for their behavior. Really if your job is under the description of health care, then you should at least try to care about your customer's health because you know it's in your job title. I have been to multiple free clinics in bad neighborhoods that treated me better without health insurance. The only positive thing I can take away from my experience is the lesson that just because the doctor is in a good neighborhood, doesn't mean they're a good doctor. Clearly I could and might write a novel on my bad experiences with this office. Dr. Emmott was great! I would recommend to my friends and family and already have. Dr. Emmott is very professional and personable. God gave Dr. Emmott talent, knowledge, and caring to be a great Doctor and Surgeon to save people’s lives.

I like Dr. Emmott. His bedside manner is really good. But what I cannot get behind is how utterly poor the appointments are kept on every single visit. Expect to wait an hour, maybe more. That is the norm.

Dr. Emmott has never been on time to any appointment. This is typical of most doctors, but Dr. Emmott is routinely an hour or more behind every visit.
