Dr Hohman has a terrible bedside manner. I prefer a doctor than can listen. His surgery was ok but follow up is very poor. He did my surgery in March 2020 had to have it removed and replaced February 2022. Highly Do Not recommend this doctor!

One year ago today I had hip replacement surgery. Dr Hohman is the best! I had home therapy and then out patient therapy. All of my therapists said Wow, you must have had a Great Surgeon! Yes, I did. Highly recommend!!

Dr. Hohman spent no more than 2 minutes talking with me about my hip problem. He gave me bad news and did not give me a chance to get any other questions answered. He told me that at the age of 41 I had osteoarthritis and my hips were wearing out very quickly. He did not do a physical exam. I went to another doctor for a second opinion. His x-rays showed no signs of osteoarthritis, in fact, he said my hip joints looked great. He did a physical exam to find the source of my pain. Dr. Hohman is a fantastic surgeon! He performed a total knee replacement on me 3 weeks ago. The entire experience, from consultation to surgery to recovery and follow-up has been top-notch. I had a knee issue looked at by Dr Hohman. Dr. Hohman had performed bilateral hip replacements on me in 2017. I trust Dr. Hohman and value his opinion. Long story short is both knees were ok. Dr. Hohman’s staff were prompt and friendly.

Rude and condescending office staff!! I had a hip replacement by Dr. Hohman in 2016 when he was with Dallas Ortho. I am needing a clearance to do a physical for my new job and his new office says they have none of my information, that I would have to contact the other office (Dallas Ortho). I contacted them and they stated that they have had multiple issues with his new office, they also stated he has to have my information as he was the doctor who did my surgery, that they are an office he worked from and would not have his information. So I call back Texas Joint Institute and asked for an office manager. The rude female put me on hold for 5 minutes then came back on and said "she is in a meeting and will call you back." Many hours later I receive a call and was told I am not a patient of "theirs" and that I would have to make an appointment and become a patient of theirs. WHAT?!! I am not needing to be a patient, I haven't needed an ortho since my surgery, all I need is a clearance a

I got in quickly, and the doctor came in almost immediately. He put an injection into my knee that I barely felt (no pain at all). I'm anxious to see how my knee responds, but I'm really impressed with Dr. Hohman. He knows his stuff.

Dr Donald Hohman replaced my husband, Jimmy Bo Barron’s, right hip in June 2019. Within a couple of weeks he was up and walking. Dr Hohman did a great job. Now we’re waiting on a call for the date to replace his left hip. He’s in a lot of pain and ready to get it done so he can start the healing process.

Pleased with my visit as a first time patient. Office staff was friendly. Check-in easy. Medical assistants also friendly and professional. I sought out Dr. Hohman based on a referral. He checked all the boxes that I am looking for when interacting with a doctor: good listener, empathetic, knowledgeable. Overall, good beside manner.

As far as knee replacement procedures go, fantastic and very successful experience from start to finish! I’ve now had both knees replaced by Dr Hohman this year. Dr Hohman took his time and answered all my questions and concerns about my upcoming surgery. I have full confidence in him. The nurses and staff were also very kind, and sweet. It is much appreciated in this day and age.

Dr. Hohman performed total knee replacement surgery on my left knee two years ago and I now require to have my right knee replaced and I will be doing so in the next few weeks. This will be my 8th knee surgery and Dr. Hohman by far is the BEST Surgeon I have had. Not only is he and his staff very informative, professional and caring his follow up was unmatched by any other Surgeon I have dealt with. His pain management system was by far the best I have ever had. I had issues with so much scar tissue from previous surgeries that would not allow my knee to bend backwards very far and it required Dr. Hohman to perform a manipulation procedure to allow me to fully bend my knee backwards. He performed the procedure and with physical therapy it did the trick These are the extra steps that Dr. Hohman goes through with his patients to assure they are fully taken care of before, during and after surgery. Had a total hip replacement and spent 1 night in hospital. No pain or narcotics needed after discharge. Only needed ibuprofen. Very fast recovery! Have been to Coast Rica twice zip lining, repelling, surfing, etc. Climbing, hiking and kayaking in Utah with absolutely no issues. Not even aware that I've had a hip replaced. Took my mother in law to Dr Hohman’s office ( Texas Joint Institute) at Medical City Dallas, for him to check the progress on her recent hip break. The PA (Tyler), was very professional and polite, I asked her if she was vaccinated and readily asked yes, I asked about about Dr. Hohman she answered yes. That put me at ease a little bit. When I asked about vaccination status on the rest of the staff, she told me that only 50% were vaccinated. That, of course alarmed me, for my safety and my mother in law’s safety. We met with Dr. Hohman again very professional and very caring as his PA. On out way out, at checkout, I asked the clerk if she was vaccinated, she said “NO”, I told her about my concern about getting sick coming to this office, and for sure I will not be coming back to the next appointment. SHE ARROGANTLY ASKS ME “WHY DID YOU COME THEN”, I SAID I DID NOT KNOW THE VACCINATION STATUS OF THIS OFFICE. I WOULD SAY “ THIS IS A DANGEROUS PLACE, AVOID IT ,,!!,!

My experience with my hip replacement surgery has been better than I could ever expect it to be. It's been two weeks since my surgery and I feel like I can do anything. I've not even had to take pain pills..... I'm out walking doing exercises and working on my short game at golf. At the rate I'm going I should be able to be back 100% with my golf game very soon. He is professional and very experienced and knows what he is doing. All I can say, if you need a hip replacement. He is the best..

I am 40yrs old, blew my knee out on the job over 2 years ago. Dr Taba did the first 2 scopes plus a failed Microfracture. Dr Hohman had me scheduled & all workers comp matters taken care of within 3 weeks. Aug 12th I had a full knee replacement, & today marks 2 weeks after the surgery. My follow up visit is tomorrow, & I've been crutch & walker free for 2 days already! Dr Hohman is short & doesn't offer a buddy. What he does offer is incredible surgical skill & 100% medical professionalism. I didn't go to him needing a shoulder to cry on. I went to him needing a better life quality & less pain, in which he was extremely confident that he could help me achieve. He's a no BS doctor, with mad skills. Best invasive experience ever, hands down!

5 days post op and feel great. The entire experience with Dr. Hohman and his staff was second to none. Very organized. Very friendly. Dr. Hohman is an excellent surgeon. He replaced both of my hips in a 7 month period. I had absolutely no pain either time. Dr. Hohman doesn't talk much, but he takes his job seriously and is very confident. I highly recommend him.

I went in for the 90 day follow-up visit for revision knee replacement. While the operation, earlier doctor visit and general care has been excellent, this staff is the best I've found in any doctor's office. From the staff at the window, to the nurse, to the PA and to the surgery scheduler, they continue to provide "Knock Your Socks Off" service and attention. Unfortunately, in October I fell and broke my hip but FORTUNATELY, Dr. Hohman was available to perform the emergency hip replacement surgery, which went extremely well, due to his amazing medical skills. He's the best, and I'm now functioning normally with no assistance. Also, this office of Texas Orthopaedic Associates is excellent at responding to patient needs in a timely, helpful manner. A few months after my surgery, I asked to speak with Dr. Hohman directly. I had no appointment, but within an hour, he met with me, at no charge, and answered my all questions. Recently, I had additional concerns about my healing, and this time I met right away with Dr. Hohman's assistant, Ben, who took the time to patiently explain what was happening. A car turned left in front of me at an intersection. I hit it. My right femur and left wrist were broken. Surgery was scheduled 7:30 the next morning (Nov. 16, 2019). Was sent home the 19th. Long story short, they sent me home on a walker With A Broken Arm. They did not even touch my arm. That Friday they offered to schedule surgery and I declined. I located a new surgeon and he fixed my arm on Dec 17, 2019. This week (about 115 days after my accident) I have an appointment with the surgeon that fixed my arm, because something is still very wrong with my leg/knee. My knee is actually going inwards when in walk. It's very noticeable and extemely painful. It's been nothing but a tragick comedy of errors with this Hohman. I suspect I have torn ligaments which he could have addressed on November 16.....but he didn't......just like my broken arm was left broken.

Dr. Hohman is a gifted surgeon - and he knows it - and it shows. That said, I am not looking for a drinking buddy, I am looking for a gifted surgeon. He answered all of my questions. He is clearly on top of latest technology and protocols. His team was great. Surgery Center in Plano was great. Pain management protocol was great - I took no opiates at all (and never felt the need for them). Outcomes were great - I was back at work in just over two weeks. Recommend without reservation. And be religious bordering on obsessive with your PT. When his work is done, ours begins!

I was referred to Dr. Hohman and visited him on January 2, 2020. Never in all my years have I been so offended by a doctor as I was with Dr. Hohman. His bedside manner was non-existent and told me he couldn't help me (which I appreciated) He referred me to a pain management doctor, which by the way was the type of doctor that referred me to him. When I told him that he said - "Well, go back to him". I WAS RELEASED BY THAT DOCTOR, why would I go back? To add insult to injury, I just received my medical records and I couldn't believe what I was reading. His "plan" indicated the following: "I encouraged the use of an exercise bicycle 30-40 minutes a day, 4-5 times a week" (HE DID NOT TELL ME THIS!!!); "For a short time the patient should modify/cut back on activities" (DIDN'T TELL ME THIS EITHER) There's more but I think you get the message. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

I am so relieved to hear that someone else viewed his lack of bedside manners as nothing more than being pompous. There’s nothing worse than going to a doctor, when you’re ill or in pain, and being treated like you’re a hypochondriac & invalidated. I brought him a CT report in hopes that he would be able to counsel me, but instead he admitted that he didn’t know what a “boney-island” was, but he didn’t think the report was accurate & that it probably was just a tear. My history and explanations as to why I beg to differ fell on deaf ears as he proceeded to ask, “Where do you think this bone came from?” AS IF HE NEVER HEARD OF A BONE SPUR! He suggested that I get an MRI, but before the report came back, he had already asked the nurse to refer me to another doctor! Of course the report came back stating that I have a bone spur coupled with a tear. Need I say more... Dr. Hohman was the physician on call after my surgery. I completely tore my pectoral muscle off of the bone. I had anchors put into the bone and the muscle was stitched together and then back to the bone. I was given Tylenol with codeine for pain. This was far from adequate for the amount of pain I was in. My wife called and requested something stronger. Dr. Hohman returned her call and was short, rude, arrogant and condescending to her. My wife and I both work in the medical field and deal with doctors daily. Neither of us have even been spoken to or treated like we were so insignificant. He actually told my wife that, "surgery hurts, I can't (won't) give him anything stronger." He may be a good surgeon but he has no clue how to talk to people.
