Dr. Gary M Gold

I’ve been their customer for the past five years. Unfortunately, I’ll have to drop them. Their front desk representative and doctors are fine, but the issues are: [1] the associate (not sure of their title) who will help the doctor key in the data and suppose to explain the insurance and cost/fee for you. The associate that I worked with in 2022 did the ???? face all the time, and the tone he spoke was disrespectful in person or on the telephone. This morning I had another phone call with him. Again he not only did not change his working attitude but also spoke in an even worse disrespectful tone. ---- this is the final straw that made me leave them forever. [2] the lady who will call you to confirm the appointment date. She will selectively fill into doctors' schedules based on her mood. If she's happy that day, you'll get an appointment asap. If she had a bad day, the next appointment that she booked for you would be 2.5 months later, and you'll have to ask her to check the schedule very nicely and comfort her, and suddenly there will be available slots popups. ????????‍♀️ [3] they never call my preferred name. I know it's personal, but by not calling my preferred name, there may be a chance that they have not carefully read all the data/forms I submitted. [4] very few Asian-fit frame selections. Most frames are out of fashion and not cute (ugly). -------- I hope this review is helpful!

Got a pair of eyeglasses, they charge $25 for frames even if you bring your own. Additionally, the glasses I got back after they fit in the new lenses, the frame had a crack and they didn't even have the courtesy to tell me that they'd broken the frames. I expected better. Wouldn't return here.

Received bad customer experience in-spite of being a regular patient

Had a very unpleasant experience with their receptionist Rita. She was very rude and condescending, treating us as if she is doing a favor by allowing us to visit them. I would not recommend anyone to go here. They have lost a lifetime customer

Doctor Stephanie is very nice, very friendly and very patient! I had so good experience there. She deserves 5 stars. But I didn't receive any prescription after that and the glasses are over priced

Have been patient here for a few years. Perchases contacts as well. Recently had exam and Rx did not have pupil distance, so I could not order sunglasses online. Called to ask them to measure and add this to the Rx and they said they will only measure if I buy glasses from them otherwise it is additional $25.

It was overall a terrible experience getting glasses here. From finding a pair, to inquiring about the delivery process, I was given attitude and unfriendly customer service. I was given a wrong quote and was not told that the price changed when they were asking for my credit card information. I called it out to them and only then did they tell me their mistake in giving me the wrong quote. After expressing my worry about the delivery taking twice as long than I was promised, I was told “I was not special” and should just deal with it. The optometrists are really nice and good but they keep trying to increase billables by adding costs that other optometrists dont. Contact lens exams for $40 despite good VSP coverage is unlike what others do. They also charged my wife for retinal screening without informing her that it will be extra. If you are willing to ask whether every item will cost extra or okay with suprise bills, you can consider going there for the good optometrists. Edit- They reached out and refunded the retinal screening charge that was mistakenly charged when vsp covers it for my wife. Went through the entire hassle of getting my eyes checked, picking out frames, paying, just for them to mess up my order (you can't be refunded) and being put on hold for 30 minutes.

There’s something wrong with this place. Walked in with my sun and asked about repairing his eye glasses.The lady on reception took and wrote down my and my son’s info( first and last name and cell phone number) then she says “go and wait outside in your car and I’ll call you “ We went outside (we don’t have a car i don’t drive) decided to wait and walk outside And we walked over 3-4-5 hours in that neighborhood waiting for their phone call.,and she never did.We were walking and freezing outside for so many hours and we never get a phone call from them( as she had promised) I think at least we deserve some apologies. Experience was great with techs and exams up until the sales rep who was supposed to help us with selecting glasses. My partner was waiting for me to get out of exam. We waited until we both had time to sit with sales rep. Since area was alread busy we couldn't really look around due to COVID. We were literally sitting far apart from each other patiently waiting for a spot to open. He already had a few frames selected. She asked if she can pick out a few for me. No such luck with that. She said go ahead and look at other frames. Had no idea I couldnt touch or try on any of them - absolutely no instructions provided! There were signs hanging up, but I did not see until getting half way through their selection. She came around the corner. Loudly saying you can't touch anything. Give me whatever you touched I will have to go in back to clean them. Ok! So went back to sit down, partner wanted to look at more frames. She again was being loud and was telling him 'your time is up it's been like an hour. Your girlfriend can look since her 30 minutes has already started.' I had no idea we were being timed on finding glasses! At this point many eyes around the room were looking our way. By far worst experience finding a good pair of glasses. I had been with the clinic for many years when dr.gold & other senior docs were there. Now the place is not worth my recommendations. Optometry was always a headache , and now they have gotten worse with even picking up $800 price glasses. Very disappointed to see this place morph. Had a great experience with Dr. Wu. She was very thorough. The rest of the staff was very nice and helpful.

Dr. Nicholas Froumis has done excellent eye exams for the last 3 years. He is the best eye Dr. I’ve had in 20 years. He listened to what I need for my lifestyle and set me up with the best lenses I have ever had. No chromatic aberrations, extremely clear and comfortable. I was doing astronomy with some students and I could make out 6 stars in the Orion Trapezium Cluster when the observers I was with could only see 4. Spent quite a lot of time in analysis (which is good) and explaining why each step is done. I see a few reviews stating pricy frames and staff pushing to buy fancy frames. This is literally an evil place. The lady at the reception told my wife over the phone that they had my frames model available within 10 days; so I scheduled an exam as my prescription needed to be updated and headed there after few days. The welcome was very average. I signed a overly lengthy form ( not sure if all tthe requested information os relevant for an eye exam...). The UI was terrible and it took me around 15 min to be able to complete the form. They walked me to the waiting area at which point a lady came out of the lab asking me about the frames I wanted. I repeated all the info my Wife gave them few days ago and she acted surprised. She mentioned that those frames were not available and it ll take more than a month to order them. I could not beleive it. I went back to the reception lady who retracted. She literally said:" I dont know what your wife told you but I never said the frames would be available before at least two weeks" hinting at the fact that my wife might have distorted the info!!! At that point I refused to receive any service or do any business at this optometrist. The welcome lady told me then there is a 25 usd charge for not sure what. I refused. Glasses and lens are over priced, even with insurance, it is a ridiculous amount.

Reception is horrible. let me wait for 15 mins and when the next customer walked in, then started to serve next customer immediately. She explained that she didn't see me. but I just sat in front of her and she told me to wait for a second when I walked in.

Get contacts prescription from here, the prescription missed one brand at the first time, then no response on email, then issued the prescription with expired date. I have to go to the provider a couple of times because the prescription isn’t right. very disappointed with the experience. Not recommend.

The sub-par optometrist made a mistake in my husband's prescription and caused him more money and effort to fix the problem. The bifocal lenses he received based on prescription from this office was incorrect and made his vision blurry. Turned out the eye doctors are too green or too careless. They had no clue what they were doing. We went to another optometrist and the doctor was competent and fixed the problem right away. Now my husband does not have any problems with the new-prescribed glasses, in contrast to a year's blurry vision caused by Dr. Gary Gold's disqualified associate. In addition, this office is into making money from their super expensive eyewears. All though the office looks fancy, quality of service is not even standard-met. She seemed to think she knew what was best for me, disregarding the frames I liked and pushing for the more expensive frames which I didn't like. I was satisfied with the doctor visit, no complaints there. But I would suggest not to buy glasses here. They seem to be overpriced than online purchases and also they don't let you modify/change/cancel anything once you pay and order. This is mentioned in their invoice, but the sales person doesn't mention anything and you get the invoice only after you pay!! I ordered a pair of glasses yesterday evening and wanted to do a change this afternoon, but they won't let you do it (even though the order time is 12 business days). My physician from PAMF recommended this place for a contact lense fit/exam. They were able to get me in same day and took VSP insurance! The staff is very welcoming, attentive and polite. Thank you again for awesome customer service!

I called to make an appointment and the receptionist was wanting to update all my information over the phone. I asked if I could update my information when I go in for the appointment as I was at work and did not have time to talk long and she said NO it was policy to get information updated before making my appointment. Nicely Located in Sunnyvale downtown . Dr. Ratra was really good . Once you are done with form everything is smoothly done . One star minus because of the staff , they feel frustrated sometime .

This is where I get my eye exams done. They are very friendly and high end. The prices are bit high, but my insurance is paying for them.

After seeing various optometrists for 20 years, Dr. Froumis is best optometrist out there! Very sharp, engaged, asked a ton of questions, then took the time to answer my questions and explain and preview my carneal abrasion long term treatment. I was seriously blown away by this guy, made the visit fun too!

One tiny screw of my glass frame was lost. I asked the staff of Gary Gold whether they can help fix it. They promptly fixed the glass frame. People there are very friendly. I will definitely consider buying new eye glasses in Gary Gold.

My wife and I saw Dr Nick Froumis for our appointments, however, Dr Gary Gold popped in from time to time to offer hospitality...and even helped me remove some oxidation on my old frames. Dr Nick gave us one of the most thorough and well explained exams we've ever had. Afterward we were given great assistance in picking out the right color frames for our face and having everything sized correctly to our face. Doctors are very good and so is the staff. I have been their client for past 5 years. Yes service is nice but if you have to purchase a frame or sunglasses etc , very expensive, double the cost.

Dr. Ann is so good with my 6 years old. Before going my daughter was so nervous, but she left happy and excited. Dr. Ann was super friendly and did all the tests fun. We will stick with this place for sure.

Dr. Bansal is super. I have already recommended Dr. Gary Gold & Associates to my friends. I didn't find their cost any worse than the place where I got my glasses three years ago. The only other comment I would add is that you have to get out and let people know you are there. I have lived in Sunnyvale for 38 years, 5 minutes away, and because my client broke a stem on his glasses I happened to notice you because I saw your building completely by accident. Originally came here due to convenience (they are < 0.5 miles from my home), stayed because of their top quality professional service. To be fair, I don't wear glasses, so they just do my annual eye exam & scans, but they are prompt, efficient, courteous, and thoughtful in their provided care. Writing this review now because Rose (practice manager) was a lifesaver for me this morning! A crazy gust of wind blew something into my eye this morning and it would NOT get out! After driving a few blocks, between the pain and intense eye watering I had to pull over. Luckily, I was now only two blocks from Dr. Gold's office! Unfortunately, there was not a doctor available yet to help. However, Rose without pause took me into one of the patient rooms and helped me flood my eye with drops until the darn thing came out. She was patient and understanding despite the abnormal request. She assured me that if it still hurt in a few hours she would be able to arrange for a visit with a doctor same-day to check for any extra damage (e.g. light corneal abrasions). Luckily after 3-4 hours my eye went back to feeling normal again, but I am SO thankful Rose helped so that I could get into the office for today's meetings. Dr. Gold & Associates is by far the best eye doctor I have ever visited. They have state of art equipment and a very professional staff. Dr. Gold also has the latest styles of eye ware. If you must wear glasses at least you can look good in them. This office believes this as well so they even provide a eyeglass stylist. Stephanie is a wonderful stylist and gives you full attention and care while helping you to chose the best eyeglasses.
